Anyone else think of that old Jurassic Park arcade rail shooter game at Chuck E Cheeses from the early 90s? Looks like this game would work better as a rail shooter in honor of that. Also, glad to be supporting you Jared as long as you keep up the good work! Glad I listened to Jimmy Hapa and Super Derek's recommendations on other youtubers :D

We had the same thought about making a comment like this. Yes! I have played that game at a theme park, some random guy played the game with me even though I said no. I am still mad at that guy for ruining my no hit with high score streak.

Let's all just say that Tyrannosaurus Rex intro was awesome. But how dare they bring Dylan back and no mention of Regina.

I've read something about that but I can't confirm its veracity. Apparently, Regina's face model used the badly written contract she had with Capcom to claim that portraying Regina was using her image and she had to be paid for every game she was featured. Since the issue wasn't resolved yet Capcom was forced to shelve Regina and not even mention her or they'd have to pay said model. As I said, there's no proof of it, but it could explain why she vanished from Capcom's products for so long despite being a very popular character.

6:42 I actually played this game to know what happened after Dino Crisis 2, and it brought some peace to my heart.

The aesthetic of this game is one of my favorite. The UI + HUD is beautiful and the combination of futuristic high-tech and natural environments are memorable as well.

I enjoyed the hell out of this game way back in the PS2 era. Good times.

This is the only game of this series i've played, and i didnt know it was related to any series. I only used a controller because i never knew light guns existed. The game wasnt anything crazy or ground breaking but i enjoyed playing it.

Yeah, I can understand why you didn't know it was connected to DC. I agree. It's nothing special, but pretty fun overall.

Slightly unrelated, but Lost Planet 1 has a controller setting to move the reticle independently in a small area and it's lowkey the best feeling shooter controls I've ever felt on a controller.

Ah, at least we still have one good Jared left ;^; I honestly love how batshit insane the stories in many of Capcom's spin-off games are. Also, I can't help but wonder if the odd aiming controls are due to a large number of people in Japan suffering from motion sickness, even in a lot of standard FPS. this game was a trip, rented it one week and couldnt stop playing. reminded me of the jurassic park arcade games but you control your character not just the gun

I don't know why Capcom didn't take advantage of the PS2 and give us a new mainline entry to the DC games, especially since that console wasn't supposed to get any mainline RE games. Dino Crisis 2 was one of my favorite games as a kid, and I just wanted to see that story progress.

this is one of those games that are just there like not super bad but just there, lucky us we have you doing your retrospectives on this, I really enjoyed this and I love your content keep it up!

Dino Stalker nostalgia to those summer in the 4th grade 👌🏾💯 loved it.

Dino Crisis is like Dinosaurs everyone has their own idea of what they are; I mean first they were thought to be dragons by people of the past, then the general idea they were related to modern reptiles and now we know they have most in common with birds

I didn't even know this game existed until a few years ago Can't wait to hear your take on Dino Crisis 3 I remember back in 2007 when I was getting back into gaming, after a few years of not really playing, I bought a copy of Dino Crisis 3 and wasn't too impressed with it

This game is kinda like Time Crisis with Dinosaurs on a rail shooter but this one looks hella fun. I don't remember this game at all growing up. I enjoy the dino crisis retrospective so far, keep it up man. Looking forward to the next video Jared.

Years ago in 4th grade I had a Jurassic park dream, I was fighting a carnotaur and the hud was similar to this game. I didn’t play this game until last year!

It's really too bad Capcom couldn't just make traditional fps controls and instead tried something "experimental". It's like they're trying to reinvent the wheel when the wheels we already have work just fine. But yeah, l was thinking the same thing you mentioned - what even IS Dino Crisis at this point? Every game in the series is a different genre. This one looks fun, but doesn't seem to have a lot of replay value, so that's a dealbreaker for me.

Its a light gun game. I can't believe nobody is talking about this. This is a guncon game. The controls make sense when you understand that. If you don't like light gun games, that's fine, but you can't really blame them for trying new things.

You're one of the few KZreadrs I still enjoy watching and offer great advice for games. Thanks for that. I think I have this game, but I think Time Crisis was better. At least this one didn't kill the franchise like DC3. Still hoping for a DC remake/rebirth.

I just played this game recently with the guncon, and your criticisms are pretty spot on. The game is rough, and the controls are sloppy either way, but once you get into the groove it is indeed a dumb enjoyable shooter. And if you're a lightgun fanatic like I am, it's really neat to play one you can move around in, this and the Resi Survivor games are just such fun unique games if you're willing to deal with some major bullshit. Anyways I look forwards to the next Dino Crisis episode, it's great to finally see some one cover these games, and do it well.

Yeah, I always end up having fun with the gun survivor games.........except 2. Glad to provide a little well needed love to the Dino Crisis series!

best thing of this game is that they did the scare-factor of the giant dinos so fucking right (not perfect but stupidly great). i remember playing this when i was a kid and the carnotauruses' roar were terrifying and you can imagine the horror of meeting the actual boss of the game which is the t rex.

Even with that ridiculous plot, this game still seems better than Dino Crisis 3 lol. I love your restrospective videos, I'd really love seeing a Silent Hill one and maybe a Fatal Frame retrospective too.

Glad you like em! I will definitely cover the SH series. Easily one of my favorite franchises of all time. As for Fatal Frame, I'm not as interested in those games, but to be honest, I only ever played the first one, and not for that long. I do want to revisit the series, so there's a good chance that they might end up on the list of series I want to cover.

I am super hyped about what you have to say about the Silent Hill series :D I think the first Fatal Frame is one of the weakest entries in the series (especially with its poor, but hilarious voice acting lol), but Fatal Frame 2 and 3 are pretty good, I am not too fond of Nintendo's Fatal Frame games though lol.

Dino Crisis 3-because going to space worked with Jason, Hellraiser, and the fraggin' Leprechaun.

I feel the same with this as the Dead Aim spinoff in RE, just a serviceable light gun shooter with a cheap plot and janky controls (no surprise, both belong to the Gun Survivor series) though I beat both with relative ease (does this support mouse?) Anyways, now it's time to cover the unholy grail, the franchise killer, also known as Dino Crisis 3, can't wait to see how that goes for ya.

That's the first thing i thought to check, and no sadly no mouse support. At least not on the Japanese release. Yeah, I'm writing the script for the 3rd game right now. I think this is going to be a good one.

I remember really wanting to play this one when I was younger. If I had that explanation from the intro that the game gave I might have actually understood what was going on at the end of 2!

As convoluted and crazy as the dino crisis storyline is, it's less than confusing as resident evil 6's story. The story was everywhere and they didn't even bother attempting to explain why Wesker was in Edonia. Dino Crisis just went "fuck it just use time manipulation" and it kinda makes sense for Dono Crisis 3 now.

I played this as a kid and I loved it, but for a long time thought it was some kind of fever dream. Thanks for assuring me I'm not crazy.

The Gun Survivor 2 and 3 was heavily funded by Namco, most people who made them were people from Namco, and the reasoning why is because they wanted PS2 games that used the Gun Con 2 on the PS2.

Very well done, i played this game when it came out. I was disappointed at first as I was expecting an action shooter game, but I did enjoy it for what it was.

I actually had no idea that this was a Dino Crisis based game. I still have the game and I thought it was really fun at the time. The best way to play was the coop mode where one player controlled the movement with a controller and another player used the gun-con to shoot. Me and a few friends really liked playing that way.

Yeah, looks like a fun experience, and that is it, experience. If only CAPCOM take some time to, put some heart in this project. When your game start to behave like a chameleon, you know it have some problems.

I didn't even know that Dino Stalker's plot was tied with "Dino Crisis 2". I steered clear of it back in the day as I was never a fan of the Gun Survivor spin-offs - even though I only tried the original once (I wasn't impressed), I did spend a few pounds on GS 2 in an arcade in London back in 2002 (not very fun) and I never played "Dead Aim", which might be a cardinal sin for a self-proclaimed die-hard Resident Evil fan.

So what's next after DC? It's not exactly the longest franchise on earth. Clock Tower? Fatal Frame?

I collect for the PS2 but i don't have any light gun games because they only work on a CRT tv and i don't have one. Other than that this looks pretty good.

So it's not out yet, but there's going to be a patreon going up for a light gun that works near flawlessly on lcd tv's, working prototype and all. Think you'll ever go back with something like that and give these games a try again, should that whole project succeed?

FYI OSSC can output raw 480i, and most modern tvs will perform some sort of field combination deinterlacing which looks very similar to XRGB mini, with added benefit of OSSC superior analog to digital conversion.

This is true, but then you miss out on the sharp upscaling both units can provide. I have thought about using the ossc for spitting out a clean digital image to the framemeister, so I don't have to worry about the noise it can introduce, but that seems pretty expensive just to use it as a analog to digital converter.

@@AvalancheReviews True, true, I wish that someone made digital only budget upscaler to pair with OSSC. If I had to choose one I would go with OSSC though, because unlike framemeister it doesn't introduce any posterization and noise that ruin the image on emissive displays like PDP and OLED.

I really like your videos and I can recommend to you Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare for the PS1 or 2. (Although I think the PS1 Soundtrack is better) It's a great survival Horror game and has everything in it, that we Love.

I'm one of those friends sadly, if someone pulled up a Dino Stalker copy i'd be all like ''yooo''. But yeah, playing it with a light gun is a blast actually, no clue why some people said that controller is preferable? Like, what? As someone that played it both ways, one on my ps2 as a teen with a borrowed light gun and the other with an emulator during my own marathon of dino crisis, it's super more fun with the gun, but the controller is fine, you get used to it. Also Steve 2.0 is still steve, so he bad, Paula is still cute tho', cuter in the art, her hair looks off here for some reason, granted, ps2 didnt like hairs too much.

Should we warn him about DC3? Nah it will be fun to watch him suffer.

Spoilers: I honestly can't believe that time travel is a thing in the Dino Crisis universe. I didn't know that until watching these vids, and it just seems kinda weird to me. Like if time travel existed in the RE games. I suppose I could just sort of ignore it like I do with the first 2 Terminator movies lol.

Can we please have a dead space retrospective?? My favorite survival horror franchise needs more love on this website

I feel like this could’ve worked in the 360/PS3 days compared to the PS2/Original XBOX era mainly if this was a arcade cabinet release at movie theaters and Dave and Busters. Hell, motion controls on the Wii weren’t perfect but they sold like hot cakes and this could’ve been a good Wii title and made use of the Kinect and PlayStation Move as well[better this than wasting FromSoftware on Steel Battalion:Heavy Armor]. With some tweaking, this could’ve been a fun light gun game. But as bad of a decision Capcom made on Dino Stalker[which I realize is a terrible name and should’ve been called something else], what happened to Dino Crisis 3 might’ve been worse.

What music did you use for the intro at 2:43? I haven't played a Dino Crisis game yet so I don't know if you used music from the game.
