    Bringing these old Dinky's back to life is a great hobby. Some would be thrown out otherwise.

    It does take patients but if you do a little every day they get repaired fast. I usually repair a couple at a time that way I do not have to wait for epoxy to dry.

    If I can offer some constructive criticism, I would find a way to record much closer to the work and things you are trying to show. While from your perspective, you may be able to see what you are trying to do and explain, your viewers may not. Just a thought. Merry Christmas. 👍

    Times have changed. I went from Ireland to Germany when I was 17 to do an apprenticeship. We filed a U iron in the beginning and had to take it down 10mm evenly. I remember the blisters. I learned how to be patient...that is what it was all about. After 3 years I could file within the tolerance of 0.02 for exams. I still finish file some of the models. "habit"

    I was trying to get the accent . I was hearing Irish but with another dialect . Thought maybe Canada East Coast . I was born in Scotland , moved to Canada in 64 then the US in 94 so my accent is mixed. I appreciate the patience you have in your work . I do guitar repair and need that as well . Cheers great stuff !!

    I was ten when we left Scotland in 64 and landed in Toronto in July . I thought they took me to Africa it was so hot ! I remember trying to use the "foreign" currency. ha ! I`m still using a flip phone . That`s how techy I am . Would not have a clue how to post on KZread . Mostly go on here for Beatle stuff and how to stuff. just stumbled across your clip and saw how clever your work is . Loved it ! Went to Ireland in the late 90`s and had a great time . Also went to Germany (super clean place) Bought an old farmhouse in Scotland and renovated into 3 flats . Still have it and go there every year .

    Hi. Nice restoration. I am restoring a Corgi chieftain tank. Do you know what colour these were painted as all the range of army vehicles appear to be the same? Bri

    Most of the old Chieftain Tanks were the dark military green. The best way to go is to check out the various models on Ebay. Newer versions had camouflage. Good luck with the restoration. ...Willy

    Minor question here. Looks like pre-war wheels, so the asumption is that black tyres did not appear until 1946. Pre-war were white or grey tyres. If models were produced as late as 1941 before the closing of the factory during the war with black tyres, would that mean that other popular pre-war models would have treatment?

  • @WillyDahm

    @WillyDahm

    5 жыл бұрын

    Some of the pre-war dinky's get metal fatigue but it's easy to spot. I'm not sure what kind of treatment you are asking about. Post war toys used better alloys and so the car did not get fatigue. I have not seen any special treatment that was used on the toys.

    ewery restauration destroy the value! ando go to zero!

  • @WillyDahm

    @WillyDahm

    These toys are already at zero as they are too damaged and would most likely go to the dump.

  • @WillyDahm

    @WillyDahm

    They do not go to zero after restoration but would fetch $30 to $60 but most of us do not do this for profit but to restore dinky toys and give them a new life. I have sold a few but really do not make profit if you count the hours of restoration and parts.
