I love the accent period. Especially when she says “here”
Hope you kept those tins & things! A collector would be pretty excited!! I found some little medicine bottles & a tin for matches when we dug up the yard & i've kept them as a souvenir 😀

not usually a huge fan of what I call 'modern style' funiture but your choices look so great in your dining room. redoing the fireplace was a huge game-changer and really like how you made that wonderful artwork the centerpiece of the room. thanks for sharing

I heard that builders leave a piece of newspaper or their signature hidden in the fireplace .. it’s great to see one from 1917! 😍👍🏼

Love the final product. Was worth the effort of taking out that fireplace mantle but so glad you reused the insert with those gorgeous tiles. Considering you have sanded every room, maybe with hindsight, it might have been a good idea to sand every floor at the start to avoid having fine dust everywhere each time. Must have been a nightmare to have to clean it everytime. Tip for future reno's? So nice that you now have somewhere to sit and eat your meals. That was the one thing I noticed about your kitchen no where to sit at all. Enjoy!

In hindsight would have done it before we moved in. But been living here for over a year so it’s one room at a time unfortunately. Also didn’t think we were doing the whole house until Covid came along...

Sorry - non house question - Lucy, may I ask where your green coat is from? Nice dining room!
I really love the way, how you style your house! The colours and texture... Aah, simply amazing. I'm glad that you end up changing the "fireplace cover", it was... not pretty enough 😅 But sometimes you made a decision, that I can't appreciate. In this room my main concern is, that you didn't change the room layout, but if you place the bar cabinets on the other wall, between the fireplace and the door, the table could be in better place, facing the door. I'm not sure, if the cabinets fits on the other wall, but I'm curious how it would looked 😊

The fiddle leaf should be closer to the window
I feel like you still need a really nice floor lamp to finish it off, to give a nice glow when you're having a dinner party so you don't need to have the overhead lights on? Otherwise a stunning transformation!

The dining table just looks like a regular conference table
I am kind of surprised that you didn't put curtains in it?!?! 🤔especially because the corner Windows kind of look small for this kind of room. I think curtains would put the cherry on the top of this project 👍🏻
@Huntingforgeorge

Can always add curtains later. Unnecessary in this room. Will never be used and the window is so small.
Thanks for sharing this video. I’m about to embark on a similar reno of my period home and you made it so easy. The choices are agonising on what to keep and what to restore/replace but I think you were spot on with the granite hearth, mantle and the table and chairs really make the room. I did have one question on the skirting boards. What was the reason for changing them, was it to change the moulding style or did they just need a refresh? Thanks
@Huntingforgeorge
3 жыл бұрын
We didn’t have to. But this room it’s just a little cleaner with them replaced. We needed to sand the floors and it’s easier to get into the edges with at least the rounded trim removed.
@carlas1836

Thanks for your reply... I do also love what you did with the floors. I have similar Baltic pine floors in my place and they have the original orangey tinge and lots of dents and gaps which add to the charm I guess.. i do love the lighter stain you guys applied. It makes a huge positive difference. How are you guys going by way of needing to replace any boards?
Where is the pendant light from? Wish you would have turned the lights on. Great space
