You are both very experienced sailors - a great trip. I think the tiller extension is quite a nuisance and I do not use mine very often.

Hi, the extension is actually 1m long. It's very nice once you are sit on the mid seat or hiking overboard. But yes, not the best during tacking or during other manovers.. Maybe I should cut few cm. Thanks for the visit!

Really impressed. I assume your brother has not too much boating experience - if my brother was sailing with me I would just hand him the main sheet (or more likely he would just grab the tiller and take control - he is my older brother). I always look forward to watching the next video in your series. Thanks for posting. By the way, I was also interested in the sea anchor. While it's something I would think of in a yacht, it didn't come to mind as a possible solution to reefing in confused wave states. Thanks for the example. And one more thing - I think I will send the link for this video to my kids. They are both Italian, but only speak the language when speaking to nonna. Might get them interested in sailing AND help retain their Italian.

Thanks Col. The floating anchor is cheap and a good help to keep the boat stable and to reduce the drifting (for examople when fishing). I bought in on internet for 22€. It's the SEA ANCHOR DROUGE by OCEANSOUTH, size Small. Nice for me to know the video is seen by your kids! Fair winds!

Enrico Franconi that really is cheap and I guess it’s just heavy canvas which doesn’t weigh too much and you can store easily on your boat. Does it have a metal ring to hold its shape under pressure.? My only worry would be rust marks. Everything rusts here. As bad as being at sea all the time.

Hi Col, no metal parts at all. Just robust syntetic canvas. Before buying it I tried to build in DIY style, but it was much difficult then the expected. So, also because it was so cheap I preferred to buy it.

I think You could make sailing easier if You make a bigger uphaul line, a bermuda rig with wires, a tiny front sail, if possible make the boat unsinkable, always carry a PLB. That is what I would do anyway. I think reefing would be easier. Compared to a small keelboat the dinghys are very hard to sail and not so stable. Greeting and nice sailing!

Really great stuff! Thanks. Did the floating anchor help reefing? Is there a brand or name for the floating anchor? I might want one for the SCAMP.

Thanks Ben. I find the floating anchor really stabilizes the boat so you feel much more confortable in doing any opertion, or even for resting. I don't use to reef if I am ok with the sea/wind conditions but I don't hesitate to use in case I need an extra help, like in the video. I always have it on board. It's fast and simple to be used too. I bought in on internet for 22€. It's the SEA ANCHOR DROUGE by OCEANSOUTH, size S. Nice stuff.
