Isn't Gaahl of Gorgoroth also from Bergen? the man was a philosopher of his time, just seen an ancient documentary of when he was in his twenties or so, it's so surreal yet fascinating. She was mostly a live member, she was everywhere in that era though, between Norway, Sweden and Finland, she just sneaked into the Scandinavian/Nordic metal scene out of nowhere coming from the US and being like 17 at the time she emigrated.

She just got some publicity and then stole poor Aleksi through them... really messed with Aleksi Laiho. :( I don't wanna name but people very close to Aleksi have confirmed this and it's annoying. Alexi Laiho got stuck with this woman when he was only 19 and the best guitarist in the world and unfortunately was never able to get rid of her. She stressed Aleksi a lot.

You know, it's interesting to see that while Nagash was in the band, he was always the one doing the talking. It was later that Shagrath and Silenoz became more prominent there, but here you see them say very little really. Even Astennu talks more than them. Which I guess means Nagash and Astennu are more outward and Shagrath and Silenoz more introverted.

Well, I think it just meant that Nagash was more skilled at English than them at the time. Astennu was from Australia, Kimberly was from the US... them both are native English speakers. On the other side, Silenoz, Shagrath and Tjodalv were less fluent with English. Shagrath himself admitted their English was really bad back in the mid 90's.

@@Tom_Amil_Echita I don't think it's that. I've seen interviews in Norwegian where Nagash aka Stian also did most of the talking. I think Shagrath and Silenoz simply weren't that keen on talking back then and if you can find their appearance on Skavlan (he's like David Letterman of Norway), you can see Shagrath especially talks quietly and doesn't say too much. Nagash was always a talker, man of many words. And he's so far the only Dimmu Borgir member who quit by his own choice, as far as I know. Not sure about Nicholas Barker.

@@BozCobra Nagash was doing Troll and Covenant/The Kovenant at the time, his main bands. He was on Dimmu Borgir for a short time. If you listen to The Kovenant's animatronik album, you can tell by his signing style and of course, the whole outward goth/cybergoth look they adapted, he's more extroverted. If you check Covenant videos from the era also, you can see he talks a lot in the shows, and has the better English to boot.

And people wonder what happened to Kimberly after Sinergy. Nothing really. No one wants to work with her. Ancient kept making great records and she just queefed away into the wind bye bye. She only played on The Cainian Chronicle album doing a few vocals and some keyboards. Nothing spectacular since she was always mostly a live or studio session member. Sinergy was pretty good where she was the frontwoman. But they just didn't last and not as big as Ancient.

My guess is it is because the band didn't know German, and English was the common language between the interviewer (a German) and the band. Hence, the German subtitles when the band members speak.
