DIMEBAGS CFH GEAR TONE TEST - PQ4, MXR 6-band, RG100HT

Ойын-сауық

There's an updated video of the Dimebag gear here : • DIMEBAGS GEAR - Nailin...
Didn't mean to upload this video in the first place, but here it is. Trying out the MXR 6 band eq, Furman PQ4 and Randall RG100HT amplifier. The rig Dimebag used for Cowboys from Hell and The Great Southern Trendkill. Unfortunately the amp broke in the video.

Sounds awesome! Part of his tone came from his paly style, even finger position and techniques. Dimes tone is probably one of the most "wanted to duplicate" of all time. People have to keep in mind he was so huge, allot of his gear was custom made specifically for him, he basically had a non existent budget for gear and equipment, manufacturers most likely begged him to use there stuff, and further more to allow them to make sometimes priceless gear for him. How incredible this must have been. Dimes collection of guitars is one of the most amazing I've seen, and when Rita showed them off, it was only a small portion of them, which at the time was 30 or 40. From what I saw, there were multiple rooms full of one of a kind guitars(mostly saw cases). To this day dimes "Dean from hell" is by far the most iconic and recognizable guitar in history.

That was awesome, sir. It's not very often that you see a piece of gear crap out in a demo video, so it was cool to see that it even happens to the pros. That being said, it did sound pretty decent. I'd imagine another factor would be the kind of cabs & speakers he was running the amp through as well. I'd wager that the Hesu cab you have might have better speakers that what he had access to back in the day. Again, it was very cool of you to upload, even though it didn't turn out like you had hoped.

I see someone already mentioned plugging a patch cable in the effects loop. Just FYI all amps with an effects loop can have this happen. The 1/4 inch jacks get oxidation on them when not in use and it can short the signal out. Consistently plugging in and out of jacks stops that oxidation from forming.

Hey, BrOla! What string gauge are you using on the Dimebucker(s)? I followed your other video on how to get the Dimebag tone, so I got the Randall RG1503h with a Laney Ironheart irt212 cab, and a Dimebucker using D'Addario NYXL 09-42's first, and that sounded pretty nice, however the low E string would pitch a bit when I strummed hard, which I do (you know, really getting into it) so a set of 10-46's was in order, however that seemed to add bit too much bass to the distortion, which sounds a bit nasty. Also, how high do you set the pickup? Distance between string and pickup, that is.

Well, while it still worked, it was fucking sick. Let's just pretend the spirit of Dime was flowing through the amp, and it just tore itself apart from the sheer power.
