That's probably one of the main things that so many don't understand about PanterA songs ( Dime, Rex, and even Vinnie's playing abilities) is just how accurate and precise they wanted their playing of the songs to be. To many, PanterA songs may seem, and sound simple to them, but when you go to play, it's a different story!!!! All of a sudden you realize all the little "accents" on some riffs and or notes. Thanks for sharing!!

Its interesting that no one ever mentions Blues Saraceno when it comes to Dime. Pretty sure he even has a "Plaid" album tattoo.

@@GuitarguyRichard56 go listen to his stuff. I think you'll hear it. The album was out in 91 or 92. Definitely an underrated influence on him. Like I said, he had a tattoo on him because of it.

In those clinic videos he talks about blues saraceno and him doing solos together on an Ozzy tribute or something….. he said they are friends. He also mentions Ty Tabor. He called Cemetery Gates intro “kings x” chords. I heard a lot of suicidal tendencies later thrash type vibe in his playing after they toured together too. Especially on “Vulgar”. He definitely picked up on some cool aspects of his contemporaries and incorporated them into his playing while making them his in a cool way.

@@SamBellGuitar Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean that as an insult. Far from it. Usually most people who offer "lessons" in a specific and iconic style in such a "matter-of-fact" format often miss the feel and point of the original player. I think you really nailed down a lot of good techniques that most people miss with this video. I'm now a subscriber, Sir.

Hi Sam, great analysis and demo. Please forgive me but not sure where else to ask, been wondering if you could provide more demo's on chord progressions being turned into progressive rock riffs? particularly on the 8 string guitar? It was very motivating/inspiring creatively.

I watched him dime bag on his dive bombs ..so he dives with whammy bar then pulls off with lift finger then find his harmonic. Leaving his right hand free to whammy . Cool technique..so don't pick your string ..pull it off when your diving
