Всю свою жизнь этот парень боролся со смертельным заболеванием - муковисцидо́зом. И умер в 24 года. Он устал от вечной борьбы..и всё равно хотел жить и любить. Весь трагизм своих чувств он отобразил в этой песне .

Hundreds of thousands of people...probably millions by now, regard Dimash as the GOAT for very good reasons. This song is widely viewed as Dimash's calling card...and it is just the very tip of the Dimash iceberg. Your reactions were exactly like mine, only I was looking left and right to empty space cause I was watching this on my own the first time lol [was the version from 2017 on I am the Singer]. There’s a lot to say about this song! Dimash speaks of it as his ‘calling card’, as he shot to global fame with his performance of it on the 2017 Singer contest in China (although he had won other awards with it before that, too). It comes from a 1978 French-Canadian cyberpunk rock opera, Starmania, and is considered one of the 5 most difficult French songs to sing (btw, it’s a language he doesn’t speak!). Dimash says he heard of it through Grégory Lemarchal - a French singer who tragically died very young, from cystic fibrosis - and he learned the lyrics phonetically through Grégory’s performance. In the musical, Johnny (the main character) sings this when his love, Cristal, is killed, so it’s full of angst and depression .. It’s also a very emotional song for Dimash and when I was at his concert in London, lots of us were in tears watching him struggle to finish it; not long before, a good friend of his, Denis Ten (an Olympic medallist who had skated to Dimash’s version of SOS) had been killed in a robbery. It was heartrending ..

At this point in the story of Starmania the main character sings SOS over the body of his lover. The performance of SOS by Dimash is the closest in presentation and feeling to the original, but dedicated this song to his friends and fans that have died or lost a loved one to the pandemic.

He feels uncomfortable in his skin, the song is about a man in distress. It's a French song that talks about a person that feels lost in Earth, about somebody that wants to transforms into something else (metamorphosis). Somebody that was born in the wrong place. Kind of a philosophical song.

Grandfather played professional dombra, grandmother was a teacher and sings. His parents are Kanat Aitbayev and Svetlana Aitbayeva. Sveta studied classical singing, but she is not an opera singer. Both have long been known and loved by the people of Kazakhstan, are Honored Music Artists of Kazakhstan. The theory of the meaning of this song which I find fits best is that it's actually an extremely tragic powerhouse of a song Having a degree in psychology as well as having worked with the mentally ill, in a nutshell this song is about someone so depressed that they're contemplating suicide, just wishing that someone (or something) from "out there" would hear his cries for help and come to take him away from "down here" to "up there", where situations might look so much better And by the last line--as the way a parent gently bids their child goodnight such as "Nighty night" or "Time to go to sleep now"--there's indications that the person has decided to give up, and "rest now" However, PLEASE know that each of the songs Dimash chooses to sing are unique, running the gamut of ALL emotions Just as how he most often combines 3-4+ genres of music into one song (many have come to call it a new genre--"the Dimash genre") you will never, ever, get bored with a song by him with an infinite number of tools he can pull from his vocal toolbox at any time You will see!! I am sure you won't get to my comment but Oh well. I am a 70 year old Dear who has become obsessed with Dimash's music, regardless of the language he is singing in. This song, SOS, for me is about my grandson. He died in a horrendous car accident on my birthday, Dec. 28th, 2021. He was 22 when he died, high functioning autistic. He was brilliant, loud, amazing, rude and he was absolutely fabulous. Chancie never quite fit the social norm's, always a little outside and and looking into a world that he just didn't quite fit into. I miss him terribly. Maybe the world looks better for him now....😥😓💔from above

This song Is definitely questioning life, and it’s meaning. This is a person who is maybe not comfortable in their own skin, and would like to see the world from another dimension. The ending is lovely, because as children, we can see the world in an uncomplicated and innocent way. As a child you can truly sleep peacefully. As a child, you are not weighed down by the realities of life. Dimash is truly a story teller. His passion and emotion is felt in every song. Dimash is THE MUSIC, HIMSELF! Thank you for wanting to KNOW why, and what Dimash is singing. I appreciate your sincerity toward this magnificent human being!

Guys.., this song about someone who is just about to die..!, thinking about how life was all about..!, so would have rather watching from up there when he is gone, now angels are about to take him to the other world as his life is just about to finish down here 👍👍

The song was part of the French rock opera "Starmania". It speaks of a person doubting/questioning the meaning of life;when there's so many hardships along the way. It speaks of exchanging life with a bird to see " life" from another perspective. Thanks 😊

I have always taken this song as a cry for help. Meaning I believe the man is contemplating suicide. Dimash is very good at portraying this sentiment! Dimash in my eyes is much more than a mere singer, he is a performer! Not knowing the language he can pull you in and make you understand the lyrics! He is simply amazing!

I was at the Düsseldorf and Prague concert this year in May. He had a lot of malfunction (maybe batteries) of his in ears at Düsseldorf. Especially on this song. Guess what... he never stopped singing and he was able to hit every note, despite not hearing anything. He was sitting on the stage, waiting for the team fixing the battery and singing. Though he changed the high notes a bit, its now one of my favorite versions and at the end he changed the lullaby to I love you Dears! 😍

This song is from the popular in the 70s of the last century French rock opera "Starmania" in the genre of fantastic dystopia. The character - the leader of the gang, who raised an uprising against the dictator's tyranny, sings this song over his dying lover. This tragic song is about the fact that the hero in this unfair world does not manage to manage his fate the way he would like. Some people think this song is about suicidal tendencies, but I don't think so. This song is sung by a man who does not accept his fate and fights against injustice.

It's about suicide. Contemplating existence & wanting an end to pain. The last line is like a Mother saying "beddy byes" or a Mother at a grave saying, "Rest in Peace. Sleep my child." It is a very deep song. Difficult technically & emotionally to deliver w/ the right amount of pathos, pain and anguish. This will probably go down as his most recognized song, but his beloved "DEARS'" song will always be: "If I Never Breathe Again." 🐐

По крайней мере, тот фрагмент, в котором звучит эта песня, одно время был популярен на KZread. SOS исполняет главный герой над телом только что убитой своей девушки. Ей, как мне кажется, и предназначаются слова "спи, детка, спи" в конце песни. Песню исполняло великое множество певцов. Она невероятно популярна во Франции. Первый исполнитель, Даниэль Балавуан, трагически погиб на вертолёте в Мали в 1986 году. Другой, Грегори Лемаршаль, умер в 2007 году от муковисцидоза. Так что за ней стоит большая история. Димаш Кудайберген дал песне новый толчок. Он исполняет её на каждом концерте, каждый раз по-другому. Так что существуют десятки версий от Димаша.

He's talking about being a Bird, the sing is French. Dimash speaks 14 languages, plays multiple instruments, and has studies music from a very young age I believe it said 3 yes old.

"SOS d'un homme en distress" is a French song, music by Michel Berger and lyrics by Luc Plamondon. It was written in 1979 for the rock opera "Starmania". It is composed on 2 and a half octaves to exploit the range of singer Daniel Balavoine. I'm French and I've never particularly liked this song. But Dimash with his 6 octaves literally overwhelmed him and I love his version! The story told by Starmania is quite complicated to explain. It's an imaginary world: "In the near future, the West has united into one country, whose capital is Monopolis. As the presidential election looms, the city is terrorized by the Dark Stars, a punk protest band reigning over an underworld." It is a reflection around the Stockholm syndrome and the story of the kidnapping of Patricia Hearst

As a classically trained singer myself (read: opera), THIS is what classical training can give you as a vocalist. The training isn't just limited to classical singing - what it gives you is the knowledge, the discipline, the rules, that enable you as a vocalist to make vocal choices that will enable you to use the instrument given to you a birth to its best advantage and with (this is important) MINIMAL damage to your vocal folds (not chords - that's a misnomer - they are vocal folds). Check out the Diva song from Fifth Element, Sinful Passion (best vocal key change EVER recorded), and Olimpico.
