When the performance clip was first released, sound technicians first verified that it was his voice [not a mic issue or feedback]... they then isolated note portion and put it through a spectral analysis to determine the actual frequency [using the broadcast studio's master recording if I remember correctly -- although it may have been using the audio engineer's recording from the concert]. There were a couple of clips about the analysis done [I don't have the bookmarks any more since they were from over 2 years ago] -- there was one explaining the process, equipment basics, and frequencies... the second video clip was rough footage of the spectrum analyzer readings. It showed Dimash was holding the note between approximately 4702 Hz to 4712 Hz -- I say approximately because I don't remember the specific frequency reached, but I remember vividly the shock when I saw he was actually just barely over the 4700 Hz mark. D8 is 4698.637 Hz. The reason I remember the clips is because of the years (long long ago) that I spent in the recording studio and recording concerts -- so hearing that the testing was confirmed through the audio engineers that it was indeed his vocal and not a mic issue, and then seeing they using proper professional analysis equipment kinda hit my old Geek & Nerd spots... I'll update with a link to the analysis videos if I come across them again [sadly they were on my old drive that died (I had dloaded copies of the clips -- mainly to see what equipment and tech models were being used -- again, old habits of being both a Nerd and a Geek growing up) 😊

@@ThatSingingShow Dimash can, but you can not. It is science. You can check it using frequency analyzer or Fast Fourier Transform. If you have good soundcard, you can use software like ARTA to see the spectrum of frequency. Stand alone frequency analyzer exist, but it is expensive. It use for signal measurement. I use it a lot in the past because I was an electronic engineer that design Video Tape Recorder product.

Hey there! 😊 I'm experienced in pitching, and that's absolutely a D 😊 Don't let yourself be confused by the key of the passage. Compare it to the D7 on the piano, and also play the C8, and you will notice that it's 2 semitones below. And yes, that note has been confirmed by an awful lot of people because it was only one semitone below the back then world record

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than nine musical instruments and sings in more than nine languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, Humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, Tenor, Sopra no, against Tenor, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, whistle tone, reaching a D8 live at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻

I'm not sure why, but to many people (including me) it sounds like a G7 while you are listening to the song. *BUT*, if you pause the video just before he hits D8 and go to your piano and play a D7 (there is no D8 on the piano) and then resume, you will actually find out that it's exactly the same note, just an octave lower. So, yes, it is a D8. I've also confirmed it with my phone app (it's called On Pitch), it is a D8. The note D is not justified on the particular key that this song is, but I guess Dimash just felt like going super high for the fun of it...!!

It comes down to the individual, as well as the speakers being used. Between ear canals or speakers, the individual could experience a different pitch. The G you think you are hearing is actually the first (non-octave) undertone, which is produced if the membrane is working against the frequency being produced. You can find an example of this on KZread by searching for Tuning Fork Undertones for a demonstration!

Hey there! 😊 Thank you so much for your reaction 😊❤however, in this one you made a few mistakes: for example: when you said he was in a twangy head voice, that was actually mix (up til F#5) b) it is a D, not a G. It was amalyzed by more than 20 different experts, both by hearing (including e.g. a voice teacher with absolute hearing, 2 university professors of music, and the whole staff of The Range Place) and by digital analysis by also different specialists, and all if them said it was a small glissando from C#8 to D8

We would love to hear the analysis and read about it - I don't believe everything we are told without research based evidence :-) twangy head voice can also be what head dominant mix is so depending on which school they are coming from as to whether they even use the term .MIX - some schools have 3 different types of head voice - with more thickness being added each time - so one day we will all agree on language used! Great info - thank you so much for the detail - I will be sure to check it out

Actually Dimash briefly explained the background to this song in an interview. It's a love song for his first love - music. As a teen he and a bunch of friends used to hangout to sing and to him everyday of those days were Unforgettable. The song originates from that memory so yes it is a love song.If you research his background his love for music becomes clear and knowing that, an interpretation of the girl in the clip is symbolic of that love i.e. a love equal to that of a man in love with a woman. The interview is online and subtitled.

Maybe my reading skills are not good, but I think you mention it right after she probably can, therefore I thought there were correlation between two sentences. By the way, the usual tessitura of high sopranos are up to E6. There are not that many who can hit F6 or G6 even. Hitting the 8th octave is nothing to do with training in my opinion. It's a purely genetic thing.

I use an app, mine is Da Tune, to tune my guitar and do pitching for when I sing without any other noise around me. When I try with YT Videos it didn't really work well. I am not saying I am confirming this note is D8 or not. I think maybe a better way, possibly with the piano, might be better. 😁

To be honest, I rather prefer Singer version because it's more melodic. It sounds here like he was super tired and was holding back to finish the performance in the right way. A lot of profesionals sound engineers and voice teachers went through it and most of them agree it is live, just a tiny few claim it was pre-recorded (though not agreed if it was inhale phonation or not)

Maybe the short intonation on all verses might mean he was a bit tired, ofc it can also mean he wanted to make a slightly different version from original. Either way if it wasn`t for the D8 I wouldn`t think of it as my favourite version of Unforgetable Day from all out there. But my less favourite version of any song from Dimash would beat any song from any singer of these days.

Most of them agree it was live???? Wth!! Dimash always sings live on stage but it figures when you have so called experts whose diet in mainstream pop culture gives them a myopic view of the arts. If they'd bothered to research a bit such offensive remarks might not have been uttered.

It has been established that no piano or phone app can register a D8 note. If you need proof watch Dimash Extreme vocals for a male voice where they show the notes he hits & when it gets to this it shows the first note he hits then it shows he gets to D8. It even says what he normally hits when singing this song then that at this performance he gets to the D8. By the way Dimash composed this when he was a teenager about a girl he saw & had feelings for.

Hi. Thanks for your reaction. Dimash produced frequency, very close (not exactly) to D8, but such high whistle sound is very difficult to measure or compare to lower note. Please try yourself - there is Spectroid application for mobiles, measuring exact frequencies of sounds around you. Keep it close to speaker while Dimash singing this insane part of song and the result is: His voice in that few seconds start somewhere around 4350Hz, which is between C8 and C#8, and then raise between 4500-4600 Hz, which is very close do D8 note (4698Hz). Note below C#8 have frequency 4435Hz. So in principle yes, it is D8. ;)

I hear a C# and a D. Just compare it to the 7th octave 😊 And with all due respect: a G would not make a lot of sense. The note is a little higher than C8. It's definitely higher, but not much higher

It is a D8 and I can't prove it because you'll have to hear it through the ears of someone with good ears, but if you react to his song Diva dance and Drunken Concubine from January in China Spring Festival where he hits an F#6 you'll see the difference between this note and that one and you'll know this one is higher and that indeed he hit a D8 here... I don't know how else I can prove it but in that way you can see the difference in the two keys, at least I can tell there is a difference. I have been playing guitar and singing for years and you are a music teacher so I figure you have a more advance ear than me...
