There are photos from the shoot of this MV showing that Dimash starts to kneel down just as if he has been shot 😢 However, since this scene is not included in the final MV, I pretend that he just fired the gun up in the air out of frustration and let them both go 😅😃❤️

There is a clip out there of a deleted final scene that is.......distressing! 😢 On a happier note, the MV of My Swan...Akkuym is a mini- movie as well.

This one is not about Dimash's vocal skills but about the story line. It is set in Stalin's Russia. In order to save his life the woman tells her lover she loves another, to get him to leave. He struggles to believe it," But you were my destiny?! But if that's what you want... Okay..." The Officer, realising she will never really be his, decides to destroy them both. This is all about the brutal abuse of power to destroy lives and loves, and that is never Okay... We are left hanging - we don't know how it will end. True then and also today.

Sorry to disappoint you guys. Dimash DID TAKE THE BULLET for her. I've seen it in the special BTS of this MV and they decide not to release the full ending and let the DEARS decide the ending. Dears from Malaysia 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾

Heartbreaking- set in 1930's Stalin era - yes, people were rounded up and killed - Dimash - well, you don't want to see the behind- the scenes- too real - hauntingly beautiful ~ there were several alternate endings shot - no pun intended - this was DImash's choice - Dimash is not merely an amazing actor - he embodies the character of who he is portraying - he touches not only our hearts, he makes us think and touches the soul

Originally the ending was Dimash taking the bullet in the back shielding her, then collapsing in her arms. But the director decided to cut that and to keep it as an open ending. Good idea because I bet all the Dears would have raised a huge outcry!!!😜🤣🤣🤣

One of my favorite quotes from another reactor was, "Noooooooooooooo! You can't kill DIMASH!!" And we all feel that way.

The way I see it, Dimash's chatacter is a golden memory. Beautiful love from her youth. He was her boyfriend. The bad guy who tried to own her was someone who had power over her at that time. Even though she eventually found happiness with a good man, she thinks of him and cries bitter tears. He is saying he is going now. It's Okay. Life worked out the way it did. They were destined to have that time together. Now he is leaving. He wants her to let go of his memory so she can be happy and not be so sad about him. That is my interpretation.

Everyone knows Dimash is a super hero. There’s no way he would’ve allowed himself or his lover to be shot! 😍

If I remember...he released this in July 31st which coincides with an important day of remembrance in his country for their fight for independence and the many lives lost.

The final cut removed the part where Dimash was killed. It was a wise choice from the editors, and I like the way we can instead choose to believe in whatever ending we prefer.

A good work always leaves something unsaid, allowing us to become partners in creativity. Any interpretation of this clip has the right to exist. In my interpretation, all the contradictions and inconsistencies between the video and the lyrics have been resolved. I had a puzzle formed when I spread the events described in the verses and shown in the video in time. The whole plot of the song is divided into 2 parts. The first part in the frame: the confrontation of Love and Coercion as an allegory of the confrontation of Liberty and Suppression (a very timely identification of modern Russian realities with the time of Stalin's repressions in 1937). The second part of the plot is out of the frame, in the lyrics. Imagine that with a shot, the light goes out not only on the screen, but also in the eyes of our hero... Dimash's character stands in a dirty gray cold corner of St. Petersburg and tells us his story... A posthumous account of the life events that led him to this reality. The voice of the disembodied spirit of the slain hero is like the rustle of the wind that whirls with flakes of snow flying in this St. Petersburg dead end, in which our hero is stuck forever... The lyrics say that the world was once colored... All the colors remained in the world of the living. There is eternal gray in this St. Petersburg lane... And the hero's memories are also MONOCHROME. He paints everything the same color. Pleasant memories are painted with warm shades, unpleasant ones with cold ones. He does not know that he died (that's why we, the audience, do not know, because we see this story through his eyes), he does not understand the nature of estrangement with his beloved (who watched the film "The Sixth Sense", he will understand), but he accompanies her year after year... Yes, I agree, there is no way that the evil man could have made that shot. There were sheets and they ducked and Dimash's character knew how to get away because we saw how he got away the 1st time. It’s one of the few songs where he doesn’t show his wide vocal range or vocal exercises other than that incredibly soft, breathy voice. Perhaps the content of this song is more important to him than showing his vocal ability. I think that’s a very good choice for this song. At first the song didn’t appeal to me that much. I wasn’t alone there. You’re not used to such a “normal” song from Dimash. But together with the MV, a masterpiece. It moved me incredibly. All his songs and especially the MV’s have a deeper meaning. I love this one so much. It’s one of my favorites. The MV is about the time during Stalin’s repression in 1937. Back then, the secret police could do whatever they wanted. I think this officer for some reason was looking for Dimash’s character and then forced his girlfriend into some kind of relationship. She had to endure it to protect the love of her life. Realizing that she never stopped loving Dimash’s character, the officer ended it in his own way. The video was shot to the end, but the scene at the end where he dies in her arms was left out. But you can also see it on his channel or the link underneath, if you really want to see. As for the song, I actually like it better without the vocal acrobatics. We all know what Dimash is capable of vocally and I find that breathy, deeply sad voice really fitting. The MV really moved me deeply. OMG he’s such a great actor too. In the filming Dimash protected his girl and was shot, but several of the people involved in the filming actually got upset about this ending so it was decided not to use it in the final cut and leave some hope that they both got away. Apparently Dimash did a great dying scene. There is a leaked cam of it online.

GREAT reaction. Love this MV also. So many of us Dears were in total disbelief with the ending. As mentioned below somewhere, Dimash did take the bulletin for his love. During the filming it left everyone in tears. I like the way they ended it. My heart can't take Dimash's death. LOL I know you probably have a ever expanding list of Dimash songs to react to. The first time I saw this video, I decided the Soviet officer shot himself (committed suicide) at the end. That's the ending I can allow, only because if he shot at the couple and missed, he would pursue them for the rest of their lives. Besides, Dimash is a time-traveling superhero who can't be killed, and it's not permitted to make him unhappy, which he would be if his girlfriend was shot 😂

The video director and writer of the script described her idea behind this MV : “This is a very beautiful and deep love story that takes place during the years of Stalin’s repressions. In this horror, in this piercing cold, in this crime, the love of two people is born, as if they did not come from this world. And they are so pure, so beautiful in their feelings, that no darkness can extinguish this light." Regarding location, the team made an unanimous decision to film the MV in St. Petersburg, because no other city could convey the flavor of the harsh and terrible year of > 1937. Our hero and the girl are the couple, and their life and love story are invaded, and broken by NKVD (old name for KGB), representatives of the regime`s power, who could pick on you for any reason, take anything from you, throw you in jail, legally execute you, and even assassinate you, shoot you in the back. The officer represents power, so he can claim anything he wants, and he can get away with anything. The officer is taking advantage of an abusive search of the apartment, and tries to claim the girl by force. He succeeds to trap her for a short while, and then pretends to release her, only to shoot after them moments later. The twisted attitudes of people representing power in a repressive regime. The fate of beauty, good and purity under an oppressive regime, and the self-entitlement of evil, that puts it`s brutal stamp over it, with the gunshot. The representatives of the authoritarian regime manage to destroy their life, to reduce a "world full of color" down to only "a flash in the sky". The switch back and forth between images of the happy couple and images of the girl being pestered by the NKVD officer, has the purpose of highlighting the contrast between the sun-lit beauty of good and love, and the grim-colored ugliness of evil intentions. The screen going black before the gunshot helps keep the focus on the attitude of evil, who doesn`t know to do anything other than hurt, successfully or not - instead of on who the NKVD agent managed to hit or not. The gunshot remains ringing in the dark, making it timeless, leaving us with a bitter taste, and making it a powerful reminder of historical regime brutality. ------------------- The song was written first, and it was described like this : "In the song, which organically combines modern music and elements of classical sound, the lyrical hero surrenders to memories of the lost love. However, despite the bitter decision to break up, the hero meets it with courageous calm. As he bids farewell, he wishes his former lover no regrets about the story, even though it is over: “Don’t cry or regret, just wipe away the bitter tears in your eyes soon.” - so it is a gentle, wise, break-up song. (also the MV gunshot sound is not part of the song itself, it`s only part of the video story) For the video that was scripted later, the video director was inspired by the composition to write 4 scenarios. Dimash picked this one. They decided to add more depth to the song. The story in the video is supported by the lyrics in a different way - they represent acceptance of fate, and words of encouragement, in the face of unjust, forced separation. He was reunited with his wife (who hadn`t actually left him) when he was briefly released from prison. Shortly after, he was imprisoned again, and sadly, he was eventually executed. (a tsar’s edict in 1916 ordered males of non-Russian origin aged 19-43 from the province that the Russian Empire annexed in 1867 - that included territories of today’s Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan - to join the russian empire`s army ; this led to famine in the territories where the men were taken away from, and to a huge revolt against the tsar, revolt which was stifled brutally).
