Sandy Lam is very good but not better than Dimash. But this was a Chinese contest where a Chinese singer had to win. If you watch the episodes you can see that Dimash was the only one that amazed people everywhere including Sandy.

The rules of the Singer contest in China did not allow a foreigner to win, but after 2017 the fans of Dimash in China did not like the fact that he should have won and the rules were changed after his appearance. This SOS performance shut down the Chinese internet with so many responses over 600+ millions getting on line to support Dimash. the singer Sandra Lam that came in first was not the real winner, DIMASh won because he came out of the show as the most famous of them all, released an album of songs that went Platinum in 37 seconds and triple Platinum in under an hour; Dimash achieved world fame over his appearance on this show and that is what he wanted to begin with. Singer was in China. They didn't see it as appropriate for a 22 yr old foreigner to become the representative of Chinese music, so he didn't win. He knocked their socks off. They otherwise treated him very well and gave him a huge amount of support and publicity, so he had no complaints. His first music release after the show went triple platinum in a day. Don't complain when you're objectively winning. "The World's Best" was the one that he left because they suddenly had him slated to compete against the children he had been mentoring. Very uncool. He was very polite, but very firm in quitting. He more or less said that he didn't need to sell his soul to win one more competition. They did not deserve that much politeness, but I suspect he did it for his own self-respect, not theirs. Kudos to his parents and grandparents. They raised a strong, smart and ethical young man.

Аfter long years I didn't belived that something new could appear in singing, but Dimash and Diana Unkoodeenova as 2 angels had downed from heavens to our Earth, and they opened up absolutely the New level of Vocal Art I'm so happy that had lived up to that time.

The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to start his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, very elegant and very tall, Dimash is 6ft 3, 1/4. His Dears, as Dimash calls his fans because we are so dear to him and very loyal, number over 70 fan clubs in 120 countries globally and number in the millions, probably you will soon be one of us Dears. Hello from Russia. You should bear in mind that he was extremely nervous before and during this performance. He even forgot the words. It was his first appearance on a big international venue and his future career depended a lot on how he would manage it. If you listen to the later versions of this same song (in Slavic Bazaar or at Biden's inauguration or in Dimash Digital Show) you will see that he can do a much better job. And, of course, thanks for a nice reaction! Let Ogni Pietra (aka Olympico) be the next one. It was written by Igor Krutoy specifically for Dimash. A purely operatic thing but with a modern orchestration, a kind of "popera". What he pulls off there is beyond description. But be sure not to take the Minsk version. Take Arnau or Kazan-2019.

Whitney, I am glad you are re-visiting Dimash again. Good reaction. You should review the new SOS 2021 version to see how much he has grown in 4 years. I looked at your past reviews so I think you need to review Sinful Passion, Love is like a dream, and Ogni Pietra to get a broader appreciation of this phenomenal singer. Recently he has done Across Endless Dimensions from the movie trailer, and in an undersea setting. Ave Maria is unlike anything we have ever known so don't pass it up. I believe after Stranger he has a range now of near 7 octaves which is beyond belief. As you go down the rabbit hole, hold onto your inner soul and stay grounded for the emotional gymnastics will expand your horizon. We live in truly remarkable times and are blessed by this beautiful person. In some way he heals without explanation.

Hello :-) A wonderful comment that I can only agree with, as far as the octaves are concerned, it was only measured about 6 weeks ago, Stranger is included, it is 7.3 octaves. I don't know, when I think about Dimash's being a perfectionist and only that shows what he * easily * manages, I don't want to know where he is actually vocally * gg. I am a big fan of his art, his heart and his loving soul. His humility is unsurpassed for which he is so well known and famous. May he have eternal vocal health for us to admire. A concert has been announced in Germany in April and I hope it will take place, because I have tickets ♥

@@WhitneyReacts .. Dimash has not resigned from Ich bin ein Singer, and many believe he actually won, only he came there with a green card and therefore you couldn't * let * him win. He resigned at ... * The best voices in the world * because he said at the beginning, also contractually that he will not compete against children because his culture does not, Dimash's culture says that children must always be encouraged and she's not in competition with adults. This was promised to him and then he found out that he would compete against children (he was lied to) and resigned in a friendly and respectful manner. Since he was the favorite and would have won, he was very resentful, and one of the jury members even insulted him. I think Dimash got a crash course on how it works in the USA with contracts, and he's famous either way :-)

The contest from which he withdrew was The Singer America and it was because in their culture they do not conceive that an adult competes with a child The jury of that competition did not understand him and they vilified him

This is not the show that he chose to leave. Just so you know he was never going to win that show in 2017. At the time the show had a rule against a non-chinese competitor placing first. I believe they changed that in 2018. I Am a Singer treated him extremely well. Adored him, in fact. He had been invited by the show to participate as a wild card contestant. This is the show that launched him into relative stardom, at the time. The show that he opted to leave was World's Best. He chose to leave because there were young contestants and he wanted them to be able to have their moment. Some of the judges on the show treated him badly and disrespectfully because of that decision.

@@WhitneyReacts The Kazan version is not a very good version... It is out of sync and u don't see Dimash much.... Personally - I do not like it much. The best version was already mentioned here - from his Arnau Kinetic Voice solo concert in Astana. Do urself a favour and watch that one, please 😁

Sandy Lam is a lovely singer but cannot "out-sing" Dimash. She's been famous in China for about 25 years and has several albums there. Back in 2017, no foreign singer was "allowed" to win that competition. First time that happened was in 2018 when Jessie J competed and won. There's a video of her backstage being blown away listening to Dimash sing on stage (he was a guest in 2018, not a competitor). Although he didn't walk away with 1st place, he deserved it, and he won in a much more important way--he became very, very famous in China and that set his career in motion in a bigger way than he had experienced before, leading to the fame he has now.

I actually have quite a few reactions of him already. I have three more going live starting tomorrow through Sunday.

The competition was rigged. Judges followed Chinese culture by honoring eldest singer by giving number one to her. Although Dimash was better, he joined competition as a dark horse.

The show you want to avoid is any video from the World's Best show. The songs are all chopped up, not the best version of Dimash.

The Singer program was suppose to determine the best Chinese singer. He is not Chinese therefore is could not win.

he is good, no doubt but this time you spent on him is time taken from Her. oh well 🤦🏽. I liked it anyway because its you.

As an example, many of my reaction videos (ok, pretty much all of them) get copyright claimed and I have to dispute them. I do win some but others say no, and when I appeal their decision, I risk getting a strike against my channel or the video being removed (three strikes and my channel goes bye bye) When this happens, any money I could make off of that video is no longer possible. Doing these videos is a lot of fun and I enjoy making them but it’s also a lot of work. I’m the only one doing everything. I film, edit, make the thumbnail, figure out the upload schedule (with my geeky calendar), work on tags to figure out what the best search terms would be so people find my videos, and recently I’ve added working at putting in CC so I can auto translate my videos. Each video from start to finish depending on the length can be anywhere from an hour to two hours. So it does take work. Financially supporting the channel isn’t required but it is appreciated, and it doesn’t have to be a constant thing. Your one time contribution can just be that - one time. You don’t have to keep donating. There is an option on buymeacoffee to have “members” that would pay every month. I’m not comfortable with that. I’d rather people make contributions on their own and for however much they want. Hope this clears up any information or miscommunication.
