Dimash Kudaibergen is not just singing another love song...he reinvents it. (Adagio)

OK, the title of this video may be over the top, but he does such a brilliant job with the song.
This is a music commentator video. It is not a first-time reaction video. If you are a DEAR and you get easily offended by comments that do not line with your own beliefs, please just find another video to watch. I make no apologies for my opinions and comments. I merely claim that "we will have to agree to disagree, and move on in life".
In my commentary, I make reference to one of many interpretations of the song Adagio by Lara Fabien. This is the link I was referencing. www.songtell.com/lara-fabian/...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singer_...) I found the information about the two contestants that left the Chinese singing show, "I am a Singer" on this website.

    This is a comment about what was said about Dimash not knowing that his father was in the audience when he sang Opera 2 in the 2nd episode of "I Am (A) Singer." Dimash was 22 at the time, and had never been away from home for an extended period of time in a place where he knew no one, did not speak the language, and only the interpreter provided by the show spoke Kazakh. He was so isolated, which was so unlike home, where several generations all lived together and other relatives and friends dropped by so often that there was probably never an empty guest room. Dimash had flown to China several weeks before filming began, and there was a delay after an episode was filmed before it was broadcast. So he had been in China long enough for the loneliness to really begin taking an emotional toll. He was in constant touch with his family, and they were getting worried more and more about him because they knew him well enough to realize he was miserable. So it was decided that his father would fly out to be with him. Originally it was only to be a week, but it turned into a couple months. Dimash was so happy to have his father there, and to not be so alone in who he could talk to. Dimash also admitted that he probably would not have been so cheeky with the audience of Opera 2 had he realized his father was there. It was his way of overcompensating for his extreme loneliness at the time. After the show finished, it was revealed by various sources that the reason Dimash did not win was that the rules did not allow for a non-Chinese winner. After all, it was expected that Dimash would probably only last 2 weeks, since they didn't realize the extremity of his talent and therefor felt he was not going to do as well as he did. So Dimash came in 2nd, when in fact he should have won. After that season, the rules were changed, and American Jessie J won the next season. A change that Dimash's family made was that, after this and for 2 or 3 years afterwards, a family member or longtime friend was always in the audience of a concert or performance. This was to make sure Dimash didn't feel alone. This isn't still being done, although I expect as many are in attendance as can make it for really special venues. Now, Dimash has a whole host of great friends in his band and as backup singers/dancers and crew, so he doesn't have to feel isolated, which is his biggest (and possibly only) weakness.

    Re Dimash not winning. At that time no foreigner was allowed to win, hence Dimash being 2nd. They changed that rule the following year. But really Dimash won soooo much more, because the Chinese judges ( the audience were the judges because they were all linked in to the music world at some aspect) realised his talent immediately ! They ensured that the world got to know of Dimssh after the very 1st performance, by spreading the news kf his incredible talent. N really I think that was a much better win for him. I'm sooo grateful they did. I am mesmerised by both his singing and his humble personality. He and his family are such an example to us all. 1st time to your channel, love your presentation. Gr8 job. I am so glad that you asked what would Dimash do if he read some of the nasty and snarky remarks made by his "Dears." There were other singers who, in my opinion, were also better than Sandy Lin. As for Dimash, they had brought him into the competition as a dark horse and didn't expect him to make it past the 2nd episode. He really should have won the first four episodes, and then from six all the way through. I think Dimash did not win because he was the youngest and the first foreigner to ever participate in the show, and it was a matter of saving face. Plus the fact that he was the only non-professional singer. A comment was made by one of the producers/organizers of the show that "This horse is too dark." Sandy Lin was a beloved and respected singer. The gentleman who gave out the rankings after the show made the comment that Sandy was his favorite. At any rate, Dimash may have lost the battle, but, he won the war. This is my first time on your channel and I like what you do. I have subscribed and look forward to more content. To tell you the truth, I think I have only watched one other singer on KZread once, other than Dimash.

    I agree with the majority of your comment as to why Dimash got second place. It also explains how Jessie J won the competition the following year. We all know that there is some "games" played with all these TV shows. It is not about the best of the best, but of rankings. What I find interesting is how many singers on "I Am A Singer" supposedly "dropped out" of the competition and their performances and images have basically been eradicated from the records. I thank you for subscribing. I have been having some trouble getting Hua Chenyu videos to post on KZread. That is one problem with China and their influence over places like KZread and the NBA. I will try introducing new artists from Korea in the near future. Stay tuned because they will knock your socks off, if you have never heard of them before.

    As a Dimash dear myself, I watch lots of reviews, and other videos featuring Dimash. I enjoy reading the comments of other dears, many of whom have gone to live performances. The vast majority of comments are positive and respectful, so it was a bit disturbing to have you address dear rudeness so emphatically as if dears in general are a rude bunch. Maybe I just haven’t seen it to the extent you have. I do agree thar responding in a kind and Christian manner is the thing to do. Perhaps you could provide a link to the video where Dimash addresses the issue of rude dears. I think I’d like to see that. There was one reactor who was questioned by a dear as being inauthentic. Rightly, the guy was offended. Dears in the comments jumped to the KZreadr’s defense, and explained that most dears do not respond that way. Most show their appreciation for KZreadrs sharing Dimash and are courteous and helpful.

  • @xploringthailand

    @xploringthailand

    2 ай бұрын

    I do not think I have ever said that the DEARS in general are fanatical and rude. If I have given that impression, I do apologize. Sadly though, the few bad apples in the bushel have tainted all DEARS. Throughout the years, I have read far too many bad apple comments against KZreadrs who provide their opinions and thoughts. As we all know, it is not just reserved to DEARS and Dimash, but people able to hide behind their warrior keyboards, knowing that no retribution can be affected to them, has become the norm in the 21st century. 99% of them would never try saying that to a real human being for fear of their lives. As for the interviews that Dimash claims embarrassment by those types of Dears, and asking all to remain civil, I do not have the time to go rummaging through all the interviews. If there is any doubt to my claims, I ask you this...knowing Dimash and his character as we all think we do from his interviews and charitable works, don't you think he would say such things about those being ugly in their comments? When I find an artist that intrigues me enough to listen to their music over and over again, I love to dive deep into understanding who these people are. I am currently doing this in my upcoming videos about Hua Chenyu who I think is the greatest musical artist around today. Vocally, Hua Hua is nowhere near Dimash's level, but his other abilities are superb to what other musicians are doing. Perhaps you will stay around my channel for a while and see what comes out about Hua Chenyu and his Martian fanbase.

    🎼✅I love this song/performance so much! 😍 You said Lara created this song in collaboration with several people, including Tomaso Albinoni. You talked about the competition. I'm following up on that. Albinoni's and/or Remo's "Adagio in G minor": kzread.info/dash/bejne/jIOFy6ysn8zbXZc.html According to my sources (keeping things simple, Wikipedia): Tomaso Albinoni was an Italian composer who died in 1751. While Lara and he may have "collaborated" on the song Adagio, he must have done his bit first, and then worked with Lara hundreds of years after his passing. :) Remo Giazotto, who you didn't mention, was an Italian musicologist / music critic / composer known to have spent much of his life's energy cataloging and focusing on the works of Tomaso Albinoni -- and thought (by many) to have composed Adagio. And there lies a tale... In the 1950s Remo published "Adagio in G minor" (as linked above), which was, he initially claimed, a discovery of a long lost composition by Albinoni that he had found among the latter's papers. Some music critics doubted it was Albinoni, and by the 1960s Remo apparently changed his story to be that he had discovered a small fragment, and had then elaborated on it to produce the full piece he published. Fast forward to his passing in 1998 (note the year); the fragment wasn't found and hasn't been since. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the current consensus of scholars is apparently that Remo composed it, but wanted to pass it off as being Albinoni's. So, what was/is Lara's role in Adagio? First and foremost, as I think you know, she is: an unheralded compositional genius; a stunning singer -- Dimash's favorite, alongside Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson; one of the best lyricists whoever walked the Earth; and both the sole creator of several brilliant songs, and an extraordinary collaborator. Next, I hypothesize that she (and perhaps the other people you mentioned, except Albinoni of course!) either knew (of) Remo, or had read his obituary (in late 1998) or something like that, and came together somehow to discuss it, and decided it should be turned into a "pop" song, with lyrics. I hear Lara's life experience and "voice" in both the lyrics and arrangement, so I think it's plausible it was pretty much all her, and the co-writing credits reflect a decision made early on by some little clique of artists who reacted to Remo's passing, and the fascinating mystery of the tune itself. ---- The other bit I wanted to comment about was some drama surrounding Dimash's performance of Adagio. Unlike the above story, which you can check against Wikipedia and/or easily corroborate using google, confirming the following will take more work, and even includes me guessing a bit here and there. Dimash's Adagio was his entry for the sixth episode of the season. But consider the setup... In the *fifth* episode he had performed Uptown Funk. It was a radical performance, with a “girls hit your hallelujah”/“whoo” call and response within the chorus that I think he was expected to censor out, and was, well, the worst performance according to the scoring, despite it appearing to go down just great with the live audience as well as the other competitors (who by then were all very clearly Dimash fans). Regardless of what may have gone on behind the scenes, there was a very real chance he would be dropped from the season, ending his run on what was until then clearly the big break career launching opportunity of a lifetime. So what did he do? He performed like his life depended on it -- because in a sense it did. He wore a suit, and had a lighting backdrop, that precisely reflected the Kazakhstan flag. He picked a song that let him showcase a flash of his skills as an instrumentalist (he won national piano playing award when he was six years old). The song he chose was Lara's Adagio -- and he'd fallen in love with her (at least as a composer, singer, and lyricist) when he was 12. And the lyrics were so apropos of his situation, begging the audience to believe in him. And the rest is the glorious history that began with that performance we just watched again together.
