Yeah she's pretty good but she hasn't asked what precisely are the applications of the robot? Ok he explained what the robot does, but what are its applications in a construction setting? Apart from one height measuring example he gave

Could work *for ship builders too.* The complex building projects need this very much !

There’s not a lack of workers there’s a communication gap through different professions not fully understanding how things operate. These things are tools for the situation , materials being made in a good standard quality and taking the time to explain while staying on schedule. Some professions don’t understand other professions from non experience in the field. Which is normal because every site is a learning process.

He doesnt even mention ai. bless

This robot doesn't have any AI systems. It uses ether Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) or Structure from motion (SFM) to draw a map of the environment but its 100% remote controlled. No need for AI.

@@magnussorensen2565 SLAM systems are subset of AI. Sebastian Thrun himself calls the SLAM course on Udacity as "AI for robotics".

Awesome for investors. Don't know how many shady developers lied about progress or quality in the past. Easier risk management = more access to funding and insurance.

haha. I see that as a nightmare just like a Hilti product called Jaibot.

I'm late, and no one will see this, but couldn't this (or spot mini) be used by architectural or structural engineers to ensure buildings are safer from earthquakes, etc? It's all dependent on the needs and applications of the robot, site workers, and contractors, but designs like this could actually help. Or be weaponized, but hey, things will still be more efficient. (Looking at you, DARPA)

Isn't this literally the same thing that the Boston Dynamics robot (Spot) is being marketed for? What's Scaled Robotic's competitive advantage? Their robot is clearly less dextrous.

@@HarshvardhanKanthode I guess it is probably a lot cheaper. Couldn't say anything on control or repairs; Boston Dynamics has had a bit longer to tighten things up, so I doubt this is any sturdier, and it also can't go up stairs which might mean it has to be supervised all the time.

These robots were built by Clearpath Robotics! Husky and Jackal. Super robust ;) They can't do backflips like Boston Dynamics, but they are a great alternative for research and development!

Anayzing how robotics or machine can build as blueprints .. Figure out much more faster and old way of methold of wood holder and take off wood after concreat is melting

Imho: outdated technology then used, especially in the field of construction of buildings and lidar. Unfortunately, this is just advertising and the technology not works exactly, the company will not be able to fix it.

Because you don't have to send a human. The robot will be doing all this autonomously and would be recording everything and much faster.

@@izybit No, it will not record everything much faster, you've obviously never worked with robots before. If we had autonomous robots like the ones you're imagining, we'd all be out of a job by now. Unfortunately, they're still dumb as a doorknob and need human supervision at all times. We're still about 5-10 years away from even autonomous navigation (fully unsupervised, any terrain).

Eugene S Actually Eugene, you are the disingenuous one if you cannot admit that robots like this are changing the world. He was not using the “two meter stick” story as a justification for the robot’s price. He was simply giving an example of a practical task that can be accomplished by the robot. There will be countless human jobs replaced in the next 20 years. This is just one of many examples.

​@@topcomment3816 Give me a single example, of a real robot doing this in the wild. What's possible in the lab is not the same as what's possible in the field. I didn't say they weren't changing the world, I said that they're 5 years away at minimum. The best walkers we currently have are at Boston Dynamics, they're not reliable enough to be sent out in the field. They're planning on selling the SpotMini this year, but it's expected to be around 100k. All it can really do is walk around. The customers have to come up with their own software to do anything useful with them since it's just a walking platform. This is the state of the art at the moment, just smarter Aibos..... Toys. Again, it's all possible, just 5-10years from now, today, we're still working on teaching robots to see and understand the world. @@ZephyrMcIntyre literally no one needs that many data points about normal construction. that robotics platform is not something they created, it is off the shelf. if you want to monitor a construction project you have to run over obstacles, climb stairs. there is already a solution coming for these, its called spot mini.

@@selfawaredevices Interesting, I hadn't seen the new BD stuff. There are end users that like to have that data. Mostly insurance and investors, sometimes project managers or designers implementing changes.
