The sad thing is that I remember the "trick" on how to get the high score on this thing. The person demonstrating needs to downshift to 1st gear occasionally. Second gear is mostly worthless. You need to keep it in 3rd gear as long as you can for the maximum score. Why am I telling everyone this? This is pathetic.
@TheMICMusicInspirationChannel

By using second, third, and occasionally neutral, it's possible to get through the game with zero crashes (and no center-line "sneak throughs"). First was only supposed to be used at the game start. I'd post a demo if I hadn't been so dumb as to sell mine in a yard sale about 15 years back.

I had one of these when I was a kid. I think the timing on one of the gears on yours might be a little off. From what I remember, the cars were always timed really well to allow your car to pass. They got close, but I don't recall them ever getting parallel and blocking your car like they did in this video multiple time. I seem to remember the thing actually having a timing where there was always a tiny gap for you to zip through before the cars hit the point where they were parallel. I also recall taking mine apart to see how this mechanism worked. You should check it out. It's a piece of simple mechanical genius. You'd be amazed at how simple the mechanism is when you pop the back off.
