I love this classic artwork from 1999!

Just like total opposite, I'm just like "Heyyo can we get more art in this classic style?!" It just makes them look more like monsters.

How can anyone hate this set it has such a classic 90s feel and the same art from the 1999 digimon tcg

100 percent get why people adore this set, especially if you're a fan of the retro art. I don't vibe with this set as much, but that's just personal taste and doesn't take anything away from the cards!

The art of this set was the only reason I bought any Digimon cards. I still have some of my digi-battle cards for the same reason: the art is just so feral. The designs were compact and the colours explode. They're bloody brilliant. Classic Pokémon was the same. They really emphasised the monster part of the pocket/digital monster moniker. It is a shame about the effects, though. Could have been stronger on the Kabuterimon/Garurumon lines. Plus we never got Vikemon.

That’s the classic art works! Everything doesn’t need to be cute, that’s the problem with artworks today. I say, More Veins! I am going to draw a Veinomon just for you!

Here's hoping Bandai don't delay too long on the rest of the world. I want to see lots of openings where people really love the retro style!

I didn't even have the original card game when I was a kid, but there's something about the original style that I really dig. I loved this set!

Just found your channel and digging the content, but man you're stomping on my nostalgia with this video lol. Love the art in this set, but can totally understand how others wouldn't.

i love how wonky the old designs are. i love how polished the digimon look nowadays but im excited for the grossness/hard lines the old art had. they feel like old incorrect depictions of dinosaurs or other animals. like the translation from the digital world wasnt perfect so its just slightly off. and honestly i think i just like the character of the art great pulls tho its pretty sick

The clash is really just the new card design it doesn't do the old art favors. When u place the old art in the old card layout it works way better. Like a compendium of beasts. That's why the alt arts look way better.

The commentary for this unboxing was too hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing throughout the video. I will be buying singles for this set and mainly looking for Analog Youth. I completed my Jesmon deck this week and I got to playtest with it. The deck is bricky, but still fun. I'm looking forward to the future support in the next upcoming sets.

Bricky is def a good way to describe Jesmon! When I've played against it, it's like, oh no, they have the whole line to Jesmon, I've lost. Or, I can see that they're bricking, easy win for me 😂

The background does not need to hit that hard, but it does. It does sparkle so prettily as well.

you got the Machinedramo alt art 😭😭😭 I envy you so much!! Got this box recently and got MetalGreymon alt and Palmon alt

I have all the original set from series 1 to 3 in my binder, so for me this is great.

I totally agree with you! Modern art looks much better, but this set contains nostalgic/OG art back in the year 2000 when upper deck released the first Digimon Card Game. This set is like the base set 2 of Pokemon as all the art are over 20+ years ago, but reprinted into the modern Bandai Digimon Card Game.

I like the old art. It can come off as lazy by the company but I like it sometimes.

I love this set. This is like opening Pokémon Evolutions. It’s for those that got to play with the originals

I'm new to Digimon and your videos and explanations have been very helpful. I don't get the nostalgia from these cards, but those alt arts are really nice. Now that my son and I have a fair understanding of the gameplay, we are really starting to enjoy it. Thanks for the informative and entertaining videos. Coming from the Pokemon world, this is all a welcome change.

@@strawberrypi We are currently using the Machine Black starter deck and the new Gallantmon red starter deck. We haven't changed out any of the cards, but we have opened quite a few packs. I haven't attempted to make my own deck yet. (My son will be getting more for Christmas and then we will have a lot to choose from!) I am so impressed with the quality of the cards and the pull rates. We've gotten burned by Pokemon so many times. We are even watching the new Digimon show on Crunchyroll.

Im switching from Pokemon to Digimon, I love the quality and Artwork so much more. It also gives you decent hits compared to Pokemon which I love. I've been getting screwed with Pokemon Pull rates which is why I am leaving the Pokemon scene.

Oh the nostalgia!!

I just bought two packs of these for my kid. He loved the art. Need to track down some more.

I like your vibe and videos! I’d like to suggest using a blank table to show cards. The screen was busy and it was hard to tell the cards from the background sometimes. Definitely trying that tea you suggested!

I'm not sure what's better. The fact that she pulled the SCR alt art right off the bat or her hilarious roasting of the artworks.

I used to love digimon as a kid, so awesome seeing the analog youth card, digimon world 1 was my go to back then.

@@strawberrypi I just looked it up, love the old card sets in this series. I had the cards as a kid. The way the card game is played seems to have changed from back then too, love the old artwork style but I feel like the card design could be somewhat improved.

All original art and think it’s cool and new sets have sick cards just how they where drawn back in the day 😅

I love TCGs and I bought some cards from the original game back in 1999. I wasn't a fan of the art back then. I didn't follow Digimon since then and I expected this game to still look like that. If it had I wouldn't have been interested. I really like the new art style. I'm glad this is a just a special set. :)

Love seeing this. Great pulls. The alt art background does look great. It is off putting seeing the scary 80s looking artwork on some of these digimon though.

This is the classic collection with the classic art, Im not as much of a fan of digimon as i used to be but i love this art because its the original card art, you cant knock it like its a new thing they are trying.

Ah when i remember those old cards. That style. Yes i do like a lot the new cards. But this brings back memories. Sure the style may look old especially to new generation of players and collectors but to us little older ones this was the thing!.

My lord, I'm a kid again, opening up those old booster packs from my LGS and adoring the more grotesque "monstrous" and bestial artwork that defined early Digimon and Pokemon.

I think soulless and veiny digimon are adorable

Haven't been much into modern Digimon, mostly a Pokemon guy, but this set has me intrigued. The art is nostalgic, but I can see why you're not a fan 😂 I recently pulled an alt WarGreymon from a gift box which was exciting!

i love the og art, and i just bought the same box and it will arrive soon, bought it for the art, and reminded me of my old digimon card that i collected. i use the og art to learn to draw too, the same with the og pokemon art.

Nice pull with Machinedramon! The Analog Youth alt goes for a little bit more here, it's crazy how expensive an alt of a rare can be, but it's extremely playable in all colours and the art is gorgeous so it's understandable.

Hi, I got really lucky and pulled the 2 machinedramon cards. Do you think the value will raise over time or drop? I don't really like the alt art (the most expensive one) So I'm doubting if I should sell it now or hold the card.

i would imagine the artist that made these cards back in the 90's would be pretty sad hearing this lol

I'm still surprised that we got this set. Since the original Digi-Battle game died here in America

0_0 Trigged my Wizardmon PTSD T.T I cannot be the only one with this issue. As for the art, yah it was the 90's. Digimon was created to appeal to boys because Tamagotchi was favored by girls. The designs are meant to look tough and rough. The gimmick of Digimon was they where cooler Tamagotchi who could fight. A little harsh on poor Gomamon, considering his OG sprite he worked hard to get to that artwork XD Still to each their own. When we eventually get this set across the pond I'm thinking of creating an alt. mini set with some of the old cards i have matching up to these new versions. Might be cool. Cannot wait for EX02 though ^.^

Strawberry, I quite agree that a lot of these cards are ugly. But for something like the Agumon of the set, it's somewhat of the charm. Very good video. (This'll sound weird, but I think you have cute hands.) Still watching the video. I'm looking forward to when this set releases in America.

Congrats on the secret rare pull. Amazing. I just made the decision to start collecting Digimon cards and bought my first classic collection gift box and pulled an alt art Weregarurumon.

Wow I didn't know they had these in booster boxes. I found a gift box with 4 packs and an alternate war greymon card.

@@strawberrypi soooo, I managed to get Sec Beelstar, alt agumon (very pretty ngl), bond of brave, skull, titan, dynas, azula, eos and Gank. My first box got a dope alt of dynas which I love, Jesmon, bond of friend, tacti and some others :). I play often but not competitivly so that's why I am "umming and aaghhing" (never once written that phrase before lmao) 🙈

If you are opening only, the minimum amount of boxes you would need to open is 15, as there are 30 alternate arts. And that's if you get no doubles. As the main set is small, you can complete the main set with 1 box, then buy the rest of the alternate arts as singles.

Is a buddy who only bought a gift Box for EX1 cause he was just curious about the game pulled the altar secret rare machine draman out of the 4 packs
