Digging Over THIRTY 1800's Hutchinson Soda Bottles FULL OF ORIGINAL CONTENTS! UNBELIEVABLE FIND!!!!
Ойын-сауық
Alright guys... This one is pretty ridiculous to say the least. To my knowledge, nothing like this has ever occurred in the digging hobby, at least not to this extent. This dig happened back in 2019-2020 and we stockpiled footage until we completely killed the spot. This was truly a once in a lifetime dig and we are all extremely thrilled to have been a part of it. We have several theories as to how so many sealed full hutches could have been discarded in one concentrated area like this, but we would love to hear your thoughts as well. This area has flooded many times in the last couple of century's, and it's possible that could have played a roll. Perhaps a bottling plant nearby got flooded and this is the result? The most likely scenario (in my opinion) is that these were discarded at a time when they were already "old" and possibly considered to be no good anymore. The hutches are of course 1880's-1900 era, but most of the trash in this spot dated closer to the 1920-30's range and even later. Noone knows for sure how they ended up here. All we know is we are thankful it happened and stoked to be able to share the fun with all of you!

Thank you to everyone for watching and commenting! We have many more great videos coming in the near future. I may do a recap video where I show some of my favorites all cleaned up and talk a little more about the entire experience. We will also be posting videos of us picking antique & vintage collectibles fresh out of old barns, garages, basements, attics, etc. Appreciate every one of you!
I remember hearing about this awesome honey hole.

Yeah a couple of us made some posts on Facebook, but I was stock piling this footage here until I knew we "killed" the spot.
Wow ... A once in a lifetime find.. Thank you for sharing these. I used to dig bottles in my youth but a disability took this joy from me... 😻😻 Enjoy and be safe.
Insane video! Still cant believe how many came out. Glad I was able to dig some myself and experience this crazy spot.
Congratulations 👏🎉....I did a similar dig back in the 80s in Minnesota . We also found two buried hutchinson bottling machines. It was great while it lasted but the family wanted some of the finds .(We shared to prevent future problems , even though it wasn't their own property ....They later wanted more and I didn't communicate with them again.) The bottling machines were actually tarped in canvas and buried with cases of soda bottles under their garage and the family sold the property to my parents years later...they thought they were entitled to the finds but we're very wrong.

#hutchisonbottleenvy makes you wonder how many of them washed away given how many you found. NICE!
Diggin' in the rivah! Man oh man that is so cool. I see you said something about flooding over the last century. Before I read that my theory was a store got flooded out and a wooden case or two floated a while then sank. Or a boat sank out in the middle of the river and they were on it. Hard to say. I lived around a bunch of torn down old houses 1976-85 and my brother and I used to go digging around them. Out past Ash Lawn and Monticello. Founs some beuatiful old dishes, bottles. I found an intact cast iron Tom Mix cap gun. FInd of a lifetime. Lost it years ago.
That’s one hell of a videographer!! 😜😜

I was digging under my deck and found a Hutchison Bottle- Hugh Forsythe Bottling company Frontenac, KS. That's the town I'm from and i gave it to the historical society and they had no idea there was such a business and had no records of the place. There are only 2 others of that Bottle known to exist.

Really the type of thing that just depends on what someone would pay. Nothing really to compare it to. I've had some pretty serious offers from a few different folks. Oddly enough, the best offers came from collectors of advertising in general, not specifically bottle collectors. I don't plan to part with any, at least not as of now.
Why didn't they break from freezing?
@ParlorCityPickersDiggers
2 жыл бұрын
Good question Andy. I think it's because of the depth they were at. Had they been higher up, they could have gotten caught in that freeze zone. We actually did pull quite a lot that DID freeze, though. You can tell because the bottom of the bottle is the only broken part. I've experienced it first hand, when a bottle is sealed and freezes, it will burst right out of the bottom.
I dream of the day I find a dump like this. I’ve only found 1930s dumps.

@ParlorCityPickersDiggers
2 жыл бұрын
A little bit of research and a lot of searching
How did you even figure out to look under the water? And what are the chances any of it is safe to drink??
The question needs to be asked. What are so many unopened bottles doing by the side of a river ? In the 1800's, did they keep their soda cool down in the river ?
@ParlorCityPickersDiggers
2 жыл бұрын
That's a possibility, but more likely they were discarded for some reason. The area they were found is definitely a dumping ground, but who knows why they were thrown away.

How does it taste?
Why are they there? All I can think of is someone got killed or had a tragic accident while traveling and his wagon of goods fell into the water. Because why would no one come back for it? Unless it was stashed and killed after. Idk I have so many questions. Edit: I just read the description. Then it made me think of prohibition bottles? Open one and see if it’s liquor. Decanter it and try not to die to see if it’s aged booze. Back when I was an alcoholic I drank anything I could get my hands on. And I found an old bottle of wine which was standing upright so the cork was dry and crumbled to dust when I tried to open it. I wish I saved that label because it was the best wine I’ve ever ever had. And I took wine courses in college, worked in a liquor store for years, and nothing compared to that dusty bottle. Didn’t taste like wine anymore but it was deeeeelicious
Why do you think they were all in that one spot?
@ParlorCityPickersDiggers
2 жыл бұрын
It was a dumping ground. They were likely discarded because they were old and considered to be expired
Jeez, boys, keep this on the DL, the feds are gonna be crawling on you to confiscate those...you dig? (pardon the pun)

We found a lot of others too though and different towns as well. Because of how well preserved everything was, even old shoes, pieces of wood, metal, etc, I feel if they were discarded with a case/crate then we would have found evidence of one being there.
