@goldciggy I'm an archaeologist myself. Student, but still an archaeologist. All artifacts and remains are usually taken to the museum or university sponsoring the dig for further analysis. When excavation is complete, it is usually recovered unless the site, such as Sutton-Hoo, is extremely significant. In that case, such as the Tomb of Shi Huangdi, a protective structure may be built over the site, so it is preserved for future studies.
What happens when you have finnished digging? do you keep the site uncovered? do you cover it back up? do you take the remains to a museum?
