It was a fairly big hit for Namco and one of the most beloved titles from the 1980-83 "golden age" of arcade games, so it was naturally a candidate for being ported to multiple platforms. I'm surprised it didn't get a ZX Spectrum port, but perhaps it didn't do as well in British arcades as in Japanese and North American arcades-or maybe someone made a clone that beat Atari and Namco to the punch.

C64 Dig Dug is an NTSC game and there is no PAL optimised version (eventho it works on PAL machines, but squashed and slowed as a result). It looks and plays fine at 60Hz. All C64 emulators default to PAL for some reason, so the footage is often altered when it comes to games made for the American units.

there was also a version on mobile that was just like the PSP version but touch controls. (as a kid I would always just play the demo, it was not a standalone app and i don't remember what it was or if it's still up. Definitely compatible with iPhone 3GS, as that's what I played it on when I was little.)

Seems like if you want something actually looks and plays like the arcade version the good old namco museum collection for the PS 1 is the way to go, sharp version looks great also but the shipping costs would probably be outrageous and NES actually looks really faithful also.,

every dig dug version 0:16 the classic we all know and love 0:49 for a first port its pretty good 1:33 for the Atari its also pretty good 2:12 the music doesn't play right also the sprites look copied from Atari 2600's version 3:07 no words just WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS 3:55 atleast it has the arcade sprites 4:35 my fav in my opinion 5:15 uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 5:51 looks odd 6:49 the arcade version but with better sprites 7:31 Casio PV 1000 but shitty 8:11 NEC PC 8001 but a bit slower 9:06 did you even try? 9:47 dig dug is so slow the theme song plays before you can even start controlling taizo 10:35 good for the device its on 11:05 WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS 12:01 idk why but it kinda looks like the nes version 13:42 where's the freaking theme song 14:24 I love this version 15:03 Casio PV 1000 but with better music 15:41 another Atari great 16:16 idk why but I also like this one 16:48 nes but black and white 17:25 this isn't dig dug its a masterpiece 18:25 theme song is high pitched I don't know why 19:14 the arcade version but the sprites look a bit off 19:55 higher pitched theme song now 20:42 the only way people could play original dig dug in 1996 21:27 hey. Atleast there's multiplayer 22:04 just the arcade version with yet again high pitched theme song 22:42 someone took the nes version and shrunk the sprites in ms paint 23:24 where's the theme song 24:10 my second favorite 24:56 the previous one again This comment took way too long DIG DUG
