I made lots of (good and thick) absorbers for my home studio a few years ago... I'm guessing I made too many, because I now have a totally dead room (which is still way better than the situation before, but still not exactly what I intended to do). And I still have some seriously troubled frequencies in the bass area. I've never played my synths in our library, but I sure as hell sent my daughter (who plays the cello) to practice there because hey, our extensive book collection is a superb diffusor system. :)
Excellent video!!!
I invested several thousands of dollars with GIK treatments in the last year. Very helpful advice. World of difference.

Hi, what category are my Sound Blocks, maybe I missed it but don’t recall them being discussed. Roger
Assuming I have a rectangular room, what dimensions does GIK consider to be "small?"
I wonder if it's possible and recommendable to use other materials than wood like PLA for example. Could you give me some informations about other materials and it's effects?
Informative!

Great vid!
I have a great-sounding upright piano sitting about 8 inches from a wall. Would putting 1) nothing, 2) broadband absorbers, or 3) diffusors between the wall and piano result in a better sound in the room? I typically pull the piano out from the wall and mic it on the back, when I record it.

That really depends on the entire room. By pulling the piano away from the wall you will get less low-mid/bass buildup, however the overall sound will greatly depend on how large the space is and how it's treated.
I’m making a 11.1 Atmos Setup 🎉Theatre….Im done with the Soundproofing….will need some advice on Accoustic treatment
What should I do if I have L shaped room?
What about polycylindrical diffusors like your PolyFusor? Would be great to also cover that principle and how it compares to the other principles.

The GIK Polyfusor is a hybrid diffuser/absorber. I've got 2 in my room, they do audibly improve the sound quality of my room.
How much absorption do the combo diffusers provide? I need to convert a small bedroom to a guitar recording studio and would love to be able to crank it to 11 without being obnoxious to others in the house. Is that feasible without deadening the room completely?

GIK products are not for soundproofing and won’t help with that. Soundproofing is a whole nother animal.
What absorber for deep bass frequencies? These are all for high or treble not for bass
How can I mathematically calculate my own design if I want to do DIY project?

My upper floor flat told me my doors make noise. After oiling them. Here I am to kill any noise and live neighbour nagging free life. So I am searching what kills noise to turn on vacuum cleaner, hair dryer and everything free at any time.I need something to put in kitchen, bathroom, living room …

You need to look at soundproofing principles and techniques. But there is really nothing you can do with a rental unit ceiling that is not destructive.
Why is everyone only concerned about studio rooms? There is a huge market for residential units for which noone seems to understand there is a big need for sound absorbing

Well because each can cost from $100 to multiple thousand $ per panel, each audio space/section needs multiple for each wall, ceiling and floor treatment. I made my own but it’s not cheap, so far it cost me $200 and it’s only half of the room. If you are not make of money or audio does not earn you money, it’s very expensive to treat your room. Not only that you have to test to see where to put the panels, put again, test again…

Some studios built their monitors into the walls just to avoid phase interfering.
Diffused ceilings are OSHA certified
Can you PLEASE not put music under explanatory videos in the future? Especially music like this, and this loudly, really diverting the attention from the topic.

Ironic that a video about improving acoustics would be made by a person with a speach impediment and too loud and distracting background music!

I mean no disrespect but the aesthethics of these products are... severely lacking.

Are there any considerations for omnidirectional speakers, or would the same principles apply for those types of speakers?
