Tbh we have a v small Motorhome specifically so we have our own facilities and don’t need to socialise/use campsite loos etc. we just like the wildlife, countryside and keeping ourselves to ourselves which may not be for everyone but it’s how we enjoy our downtime. So, it’s maddening to be corralled onto sites. Also, since we started with trailer tent, folding camper, campervan up to now a Motorhome, the cost of sites means doubling our expenses. We have three dogs who come too. We may have been able to afford sites originally, but now with losing jobs, having much more poorly paid employment etc, it’s all very well for some bloggers to say just go to a campsite, and for locals to say don’t have a can if you can’t afford sites, but our circumstances have changed and still being able to have a break without paying for dog kennels is a lifeline to sanity for us. Be grateful if you can just afford to pay!

Absolutely yes! I think this year we will see more and more folks considering alternatives to campsites. Enjoy your adventures and downtime

Where in the higway code is that stated (van with windows) , and if it's not how can anyone be aware of it?

I understand that if you have a converted van, with bed, cooking facilities etc, it counts as a motorhome for speed limits. If it isn't obvious it's a camper you might still get a ticket, but you can appeal and win if you send photos of the interior, showing these facilities. Bit of a hassle, though...

Hi Matt wouldn’t it be nice if all campsites were to let you know if there is any transport links near there site. Like some of the big clubs i.e. C&CC

It would be, and most owners/staff are more than happy to chat and recommend things. I suppose not every business has the ability to make it easily accessible, and the information sometimes changes too!
