DIFFERENT SPECIES/VARIETIES OF ALOE PLANT
The species of aloe (including aloe vera) are mostly ornamental with some medicinal attributes. Aloe and its species, namely aloe vera, aloe perryi, and aloe ferox have been used as medicinal plants since the ancient Greeks until the modern times. Its uses are diverse - from treating burns, cuts, scrapes, wounds, itchy skin, insect bites, and skin infections. Aloe has salicylic acid, a component that acts a soothing agent to the skin.

Thanks for posting. This spring of 2024 I'm going to purchase a large species, either Aloe ferox or Aloe marlothii, I haven't made up my mind. One thing I want is for it to get LARGE. I think they're so impressive. I've never owned an aloe among my other plants, and I love succulents! Either species will survive outside in a pot down here in Lake Charles, LA except on rare occasion it should dip in the mid-twenties, at which time I would just scoot the plant inside a nearby heated room for the night. Great video.
Nice! Was able to determine two species I got, the one I got as Aloe Vera obviously isn't a Vera at all. Do you know by any chance if other varieties are usable like the Vera as well, ie smearing their sap on sunburns etc. ?
