I feel like a lot from homecoming was glossed over. They have new travel powers too, free double XP boosters also, and lots of unique powers and classes to offer... But hey nvm all that let's just say they have masterminds and call it a day. >.>

I did forget to talk about the few new powersets they added. There are no new classes or travel powers that they have added, and the xp boost they have was in the paid shop same as the power pool movements they have.

The travel powers had a revamp about a year ago and a few powers were added to the power trees. Teleportation for example got a few new powers and modifications as well as a few others. Quite a few of the classes (and almost all powers) have had their base stats modified so they are different form the base classes on live but made for better play. Yes the XP boosters are from the P2W vendor (P2W vendor is only in game currency no RL currency needed) but the XP boosters are completely free and whether you get them form a contact or not it's still offered in the game so using the "double XP" as a reason to use one server but omitting that same reason for another server that offers it as well seems a bit disingenuous whether intentionally or not. Just feel like this video doesn't fairly represent all the servers. @@ControlledChaosGaming

Homecoming is in direct talks with the NCSoft team and working on some things together, they even semi recently helped them with a new launcher that's more secure than the old one. Whatever they make of it, it is has the acknowledgement of the owners. @@Googleisstupid-sk3hm

Sentinel really felt like an after thought. It was released, the damage scalar and janky proc/mechanic was tweaked and it was called done basically. The meta of CoH is either bring big buff, big debuffs, or big damage. Even tanks have to consider a bit of this on top of "Big defense/resists" And sentinel simply didn't bring much to the table.

True but I see them as a hybrid class, also I see them as the best class for pulling if need be since they have the range of a blaster and are not as squishy.

I don't know if it was changed after this video was made, but on homecoming, I went to buy some level 5 enchacements from the npc near Ms. Liberty and I saw if you scroll down past the DO enhancements, she was also selling level 5 SO.

I personally do not remember if that was in place at the time. I have noticed that recently myself though and I am trying to figure out if I like it or not. I think that is because my player side of the brain is this is cool. Whereas my developer's brain is going no this ruins the gain of power as you level up.

Most of my time is spent on Cake now. Freeform does cause imbalance and makes things too easy, but dammit, it gives me ways to more accurately create my characters the way I wanted them to be instead of locking them behind one primary and one secondary.

@@TheUnseenPath Honostly I think Rebirht is a harder server due to not every costume part is unlocked for you. To unlock some of them you have to craft them or do sertan things.

I wish HC bring us something like the Guardians too.

@@callac That would be cool Homecoming is one of those server where I do not know what direction they are going. Mainly becasue they do not communicate with me. So I do not know in advance of what they are going to put out.

the guardian description is lacking a lil...while yes the mix of melee/ranged through its primaries being assault the secondaries are what are termed composition which is a mix of (de)buff and armor sets

Yeah, Guardians are very much a "jack of all trades" class. They have some melee, some ranged, some support and some def, however they don't really excel at any of them. That being said they're still quite useful on teams (especially PUGs) as they can fill any holes.

About the level scaling on Thunderspy, I’m playing on that server now, and I’m 2 levels higher than the mobs in the missions now. I’m level 5, they’re level 3. So I’m not sure it works correctly 😕

@@ControlledChaosGaming Okay, so the first mission, they scaled with my level. The next mission I was one level higher, and the next mission I was 2 levels higher. In that period of time I leveled once between each mission, but the mobs stayed in the same level in those 2-3 missions, and suddenly they scaled my level again. Now, you mention, that on that server there are no missions, but actually there is. When you log in, you already have your first contact which grant you missions in Atlas Park, and after that, introduces you to a new contact, and so on. Maybe you meant some specific missions or some specific places in the game? 🙂

Ive been on Victory server. They run the same code as homecoming but have a stocked auction house and a tiny population. I don't hate the system, its really difficult to earn inf buy you don't need too much of it. Your first 50 will have to do a lot of grinding to afford the crafting fees on all those purples. Im thinking about switching because i want to experience content i never got to play when the game was still live. I still haven't run a lord recluse tf. Its not too difficult to make a god like character but its kinda tedious at times soloing everything all the time. And sometimes I just want to play a fun character and not have to solo all the end game tf to unlock my accolades. I was thinking homecoming due to population but am considering rebirth. Now im thinking about Cake, that mix and match sounds appealing. Ive always had a /devices blaster and thought the best primary would be the other blaster secondary energy manipulation. I want to boost range-build up- teleport foe onto my pile of trip mines and bone smasher them in the jaw.

If you are looking for groups I recommend Homecoming Exelcier or Purrgatory. As for your idea about a blaster with devices and using teleport to pull enemies into the trip mind. I am stealing that idea from you for a build.

All these servers need to focus on less flash. Make things easy to see and understand rather than a screen full of animations.

They are all ran by players that loved the game when it was live and are use to the way it plays. So are most of the player base, plus they are still learning how some things work and to do things. Since none of them where on the team when the game was on the live servers. So they are teaching themselves from scratch, I personally like that they are updating the game where they can as they learn.

No, all of them have made a change in some form. I think the closest you will get is Rebirth and Homecoming.

All of the servers have villains and going rogue. When on the main screen when creating a character just look in the upper left. You will see where it says villains. Click on that and it will let you create one.

Purgatory is a good server for casual players so is Thunderspy. As for a tier list are you talking about for the server? If so that would be based off my own opinions as people want different things from the servers.

That depends on what you consider active. It has the highest player count at one time. but all servers have an active player base to them. Some just have different ways they are active.

Depends on where in the world you are. If you are closer to the UK I would say Unity. All the others are in the USA.

Yeah, i did make that mistake with this one.

Any PvP differences between the servers? I used to PvP on HC but the Arena players implemented arena gameplay into the PvP Zones which nerfed the fun and gameplay. Turned RV into a ghost town.

Rebirth player here, can't speak for the other servers but Rebirth has weekly scheduled PvP events every Sunday evening (USA time). Outside of the scheduled PvP event the PvP zones are almost always empty.

Some of the private server have made there own launchers making it easy to install and play the game. Homecoming is one of them and Freedom is also working on there own launcher. As for your router and internet supplier I have a Linksys router and go through Comcast and have not had a single problem with any of the private servers.

ThunderSpy and Rebirth are definitely the best ones right now. Better coding, more content, great changes to craft and yet, no oversimplification such as HC. Thanks for the video!

It was ment to cover the main differences of the servers. I could do a complete differences of all the servers but that would be a really long video.

These small servers would be great if they weren't under the delusion that someday a massive influx of players is going to come in. As it is, there are so few people playing that it's virtually impossible to do any TF or Incarnate trial with any kind of reasonable frequency. You might be able to get some of those done here and there when there happen to be enough people on to play, but realistically the game on those servers begins and ends with you doing mission content solo for merits. CoH isn't the deepest game in the first place, but cutting off all of that content just kills it. Honestly, most of these small servers would be so much better if they'd recognize that their populations are always going to be small and the only people going there are those that want to mainly solo. Adjust TF's so they can be completed solo, it wouldn't take much, and make incarnate rewards available outside of Itrials. As it is the choice is: Play solo to 50 and stop on most servers, Instantly have a character that can solo GM's on New Dawn, or play where things are slightly easier, but still have to be worked for, on Homecoming. This is the reason Homecoming is the most populated, not because it was first, but because people can still access the whole, complete game in a reasonable manner without being grossly overpowered.

I play on HC. They offer free 2x XP boosters. You can easily find groups running radio missions and get to lvl 50 in a day or 2 of hard work.

also On the everlasting server, i find people LFG for TF's all the time. Every 30 mins it seems like there's a posi group coming up. Got my double feature badge last night too. Always something to do somewhere.
