which tables are loaded first fact or dimension and why ?

Dimension table is loaded first and then fact . The reason behind is fact table contents foreign key from fact table which is primary key in dimension table and due to referential integrity we need to load the table with primary key and then then table containing foreign key to avoid data load rejection. Hope this helps

What is top down approach and bottom apprach

Top down and bottom up are data warehouse design method , it's part of data warehousing concept. Let me explain you a bit here 1) Top down approach- data warehouse is built first and then specific datamarts are build E.g company ( Data warehouse) then then each department in company like sales , HR, Marketting etc can be considered as datamarts However In Bottom up approach , datamarts are deisgned first and then data warehouse , you can consider the same example for data warehouse and datamarts as in top down approach, hope this is clear
