This was a great band all around even though they were not an american band . it sounded very much like steve miller but with more of a progressive twist. The drummer from this band was fantastic !

I totally agree. I played with Diesel when they had that Billboard hit and the drummer then was Pim Koopman, who also produced the album. Great drummer and lovely guy, loved playing with him in Diesel. He unfortunately passed away at the age of 56 in 2009 .......

@@hugodebruin4013 Met Pim once with some Kayak members and he was a really nice and warm guy, he liked my Haags accent, which is a bit unusual in the Achterhoek. I was shocked when I heard of his death. Great that you had the chance of playing with him.

I spent YEARS looking for this "Steve Miller" song. Even scoured 45s from radio stations and vintage records stores that claimed to have everything. Even the clerks though it was a Steve Miller song. No such luck until 2005 when I bought a Chevy Malibu with XM satellite radio; and on the digital display, my search was over and the mystery was solved.

Thanks guys.. I can't get the song out of my head.. I hate when that happens..

The nice thing about the music of the 60’s 70’s and 80’s…I was a teenager!!! How great it is to look back and get inspired from rock and roll… I’m rolling into my 70’s and I listen to all the old stuff… to hell with politics…

Preach on... Man I forgot about this song. In 1981, when this song came out, I was 13 yrs old & I absolutely loved it & thought that it was the GREATEST SONG EVER. I finally heard it yesterday again on 80s Sirius radio...it has been years since I last heard it. I INSTANTLY DOWNLOADED IT TO MY PHONE MP3 PLAYER!!! I bet I've played this song 50 times since yesterday!!! The 70s & 80s were the GREATEST ERA/DECADE OF MUSIC TO EVER COME AROUND IN MY OPINION...ESPECIALLY FROM 1978-1985!!! They were not lip syncing they were playing the song live someone separated the audio from the video and added the original release recording as a muscian it's easy to tell the vocals are real close the drummer hits the cymbal crashes pretty on with the original but his tom work is different from what you see and what you hear,its still great to see them having so much fun almost fifteen year's ago

Hello, it was me who put the original audio from 1980, with this video from 2010. The reason for doing that was that I needed this song in its original version, but at that time I couldn't find a video from that time. That's why I put them together, trying to match the voices and instruments, as best as possible.

I think its great it also turned out good it's flattering for them and after all the key players are still playing so no harm no foul And even if this is considered a one hit wonder, the way I see that is they are millions of us musicians that go our whole life never having the explosive ride a hit song takes you on, most single hits, will be remembered over and over thru decades it could be any of us going on this trip a fun time in our memories. One hit wonders the spice of life that has passed into history, I'm glad I was there for the rides. JP

i see im not the only one who thought that.. the singer's voice isn't exactly the same as Steve Miller's ? but the way he phrases things when he sings is eerily similar and with the guitar riffs sounding close to Jet Airliner , almost spot-on ,in fact, it's easy to see why i thought that..

The vocalist is Cindy Oudshoorn, great voice. I agree with other posts....this used to be about a 5-minute video and what was cut out made it one of my favorite live videos ever. Whoever has control over this, please bring back the original so we can enjoy this superb latter-day rendition with some original Diesel members.

Happy pop tune then the synths kick in and I was hooked.

They sub planted the audience from a Mitch Miller live performance from 1946! Which included Jack Benny & Groucho Marx.What a thrilling experience for those time travellers!This was for sure an audience like this ever to experience a live Sausalito Summer,Wow!!!

This is video of the Dutch prog-rock band Kayak. Pim Koopman (RIP) the drummer, had a little side project of his own and this song of his took everyone by surprise when it was a hit in the US and Canada. Some of these players may have been on the original recording -not sure. This song is very unlike normal Kayak music but I guess they had to play it in some concert situations. I know most of them weren't official members of Diesel. The musicians here are fantastic. Can't say the same for the video editing. I urge you to type in "KAYAK band" and see what you think. And yes, that girl is a great singer and a doll too! :)

I edited the video by putting the audio of the 1980 audio, just to be able to pass it in the disco with good sound, although the live audio of the video is good, it did not work at that time, nor was it available on KZread in 2010 the original clip from the time of this topic, I could only find a fragment, that's why I used this video. Cheers
