Great video, brought me back to the days I was learning about diesel engines and how to test their components. But I have to throw in my 2 cents: I was taught there are nozzles and injectors. The difference being a nozzle simply atomizes the fuel, and is what you just tested and called a mechanical injector. An injector was something that can meter the amount of fuel that it was atomizing. Thoughts?

a shop i worked at used to clean injectors apparently the little cleaning tools that look like micro toothpicks to clean out the nozzle holes were thousands of dollars for a set of probably 15 or 20

What is the brand of the tester you found and what is the area in Canada found it on kajiji? How much did it cost you? I'm near Spokane WA

Can you increase the pressure on these to improve efficiency? Stronger spring for instance? I am learning about IDI diesels and I was surprised to see the injector spray in a star pattern. I thought it sprayed straight ahead, based on the diagrams I have seen of IDI engines and the swirl chambers.

Hey. I have a problem on my old volvo diesel. Sometimes I can't rev past 3k rpm. It missfires on at least one cylinder when you reach 3k rpm. If you drive it for a while the problem goes away and then it runs normally. It's not the turbo causing this. Nor the intake or fuel delivery to the pump. Could it be the IP (pump) or an injector

How much are pop testers going for up by you? I usually put a piece of paper down so i can study the spray pattern after a single blast.

My 4bt 4-390 Cummins sounds like it's starving for fuel. While I had the injectors out, I wanted to test them. Got a bench tester. 2 seem to work well, other 2 spray but you have to crank on the handle harder to get the oscillation but it does chatter. Is that abnormal in your experience?

Very interesting but if I may ask I'm driving 2009 Mazda drifter turbo diesel when I replace the nozzle I have to test it for spraying even it's a new nozzle

What brand of tester is that? I should start hunting around for one now I need to rebuild my two old deutz tractors this winter

Great video, although ATF is not a lubricant to diesel! It actually increases the amount of wear on the injectors, but it makes a good cleaner. Optilube is the diesel lube additive, I highly recommend checking out the Optilube XL lubricant. It scored the best in wear scar testing independently by a long shot

Try to send some injector cleaner through it while replacing the fuel filter and check for rust on the lines

So last night I put some 6x0.013 nozzles on my 12v injectors (no idea how old the components inside are) and pop tested them to 284bar. However, I had one injector that didn't seem to pop nearly as hard as the other ones. Does this seem like a problem to you?

A bit of advice wipe the injector prior to putting pressure onto the tip. If the injector was to let go you may be exposed to serious pressure injection risk. It like lifting a load then walking under it. Probably wont fall but you wouldn't walk under it. Also why not set up a perspex enclosure to captivate the diesel. You obviously have good knowledge but its important to adopt best practice when framing a Utube video.

I've got no audio on this. I do have perfect audio on other KZread videos that I just checked, but no audio at all on this video. My setting are all correct, set to their maximum volume. Huh.
