He was so good that I had to admit in 1986 that no other player deserved to win the World Cup in 1986 for Argentina though they beated my home country Germany in the final. Maradona was so good, that 80% of Argentinians will answer even nowadays the question who was better, Maradona or Messi, with a smile and say without hesitation: Maradona.

Maradona was so absurd that he was compared with Pelé, and some even prefer Maradona than Pelé and Messi, especially in Argentina where he is treated like god (literally) They created a religion just to worship him, even though Maradona is not better than Pelé and Messi, he is still considered in Argentina as the best player in the history of football, he is absurd at that level.

I put Diego ahead because he played in an era with no protection and terrible pitches. Look what he did for Napoli, a team nearly relegated and he took them to two league titles, domestic cup and a European trophy when the Italian league was the best and AC Milan and Juve dominated Europe. Even Argentina in 86 was an average team without him.
