Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts ist Hamburg eine blühende Wirtschaftsmetropole im Kaiserreich mit über 800.000 Einwohnern. Der Hafen ist das Tor Deutschlands zur Welt. Trotzdem prägen auch soziale Gegensätze das Leben in der Hansestadt. Als 1906 das riesige Bismarckdenkmal eingeweiht wird, ist auch eine der neumodischen Filmkameras vor Ort. In den folgenden Jahrzehnten entstehen in Hamburg einzigartige Filmaufnahmen, die Autor Konstantin von zur Mühlen zusammengetragen und in hochauflösendem HD abgetastet hat.

Unser Hamburg....heute immer noch die schönste Stadt in Deutschland. Hier geboren, aufgewachsen und geblieben. Vielen Dank für's Hochladen der schönen Dokureihe.
Danke für den tollen Film, mein Großvater ist in Hamburg 1901 geboren. Seine Mutter ist die Schwester von dem Dramatiker und Dichter Hermann Boßdorf. Dieser Film bereichert meine Sicht auf die damalige Zeit.
Schöne Doku über die Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg❤ Alle Teile sehr sehenswert.
Hamburg , meine Stadt, dort aufgewachsen und immer noch mit dem Herzen dort....

Es gibt ein kleines Buch von Martin Krieger ("Kleine Geschichte Hamburgs"). Etwas trocken zu lesen aber aufschlussreich. Und nicht zu vergessen das Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte.

Gestank und Rauch war damals allseits da. Was haben wir alles erreicht, dass dies sich deutlich gebessert hat. Eine Errungenschaft!
Wegen der Doku freue ich mich umso mehr auf unseren Kurzurlaub in Hamburg😃!

Hamburg ist eine der schoensten Staedte der Welt, meiner Meinng nach. Von 1970 bis bis 1982 bei Hapag Loyd den Beruf des Matrosen gelernt und dadurch einen griossen Teil dr Welt bereist, Spaeter auch bei der Deutschen Afrika Linie . Heute lebe ich in Fiji, das ist in der Suedsee .
Toll. man sieht wie schön die Stadt war. Leider fast alles in Dutt.
Thank you for this unique upload! A week ago, we had the opportunity to visit Luneburg, one of the few, if not only German cities which was not razed to the ground during the WWII.. What a contrast it was to the Hamburg. Driving around Hamburg, one could catch a glimpse of some old, renovated buildings and of how the city must have been. And this great Hansa city lost its place as a main European harbour before the unification of East Germany to towns like Rotterdam, etc. There is nothing to justify the total destruction of German towns and civilian population by the Allied (read British) forces, from Hamburg to Dresden to Frankfurt and so on. Sorry for the Americans and others, but they did not come to save Europe, they were simply played again by the Brits. But this time, no matter how loud they scream for a wolf that never existed, they will be (at the most) a good carrier for the USA. How the king became a vassal? If the USA is going to abandon the so-called defence of so-called Western Europe, please have them take out the nukes and other arms from the European soil. What ever is the next war, it should not, and never again, be fought on the European soil. We, Europeans have had enough!

allied bomber command made some questionable decisions but there was no precision bombing back then. Both sides participated Germany bombed the Brits and they bombed Germany. When Germany could not fly sorties of bombers anymore they put small bombs on fw-190s and flew to small coastal towns of England and bombed the people in a desperate bid to scare the brits.

Hello. I am glad you enjoyed your travel through. Have you been in Munich? It is one of the nicest cities in Germany. You don't have to apologise. We are very thankful to the USA. They helped us to a lot after the war, and destroyed the Nazis. By the way. Heidelberg, Konstanz, Regensburg, Speyer and a handful of small towns wasn't destroyed. However we lost more between 60 and 70% of our historical places and buildings. It is very said, cause we had very beautiful cities and buildings. But I don't blame US Armee, Britisch Air force or Russians. I blame my people who support the Nazis.

Poodles rock: "We, Europeans have had enough!" Of what - starting world wars that destroy the lives of millions of people? Your revisionist history and victimization does not stand up to the volumes of written, typed and published documentation of the Nazis themselves. Nor does it stand up to the actual filmed archives of that era as well as actual witness accounts. If anyone was duped it was the decent German people themselves who were still recovering from the first world war mistakes. Americans went to war in Europe to save America, not to save Europe. Saving Europe was a necessary step. If you think removing the nukes will provide a safe measure of protection ask the Ukrainians today how well that's working. Putin and his oligarchs have picked up where Hitler and his band of merry men left off. Putin knows the West doesn't want a nuclear war and foolishly invaded their country thinking the West would turn its eyes away again. But he doesn't want a nuclear war either so here we are at a near stalemate for now. It's a powder keg waiting to fully explode gifted to us by modern day fascists, Will we never learn???

meeeine fresse sah das hübsch aus ... stell mal vor deutschland wär subtropisch und was man so bei ca. min 3:20 alles sieht in weiter/größer .... venedig hätte abgestunken ! :D
Und nach nur 0,20 Sekunden schon ein agressiver Zugereister.....ganz wie heute!

... stimmt, aus Österreich sollte man wirklich niemanden mehr zureisen lassen, da haben wir ja schon ziemlich schlechte Erfahrungen mit gemacht ... 😇

diese Dokumentation fokussiert sich viel zu stark auf die bürgerliche Kultur. Viel interessanter ist Hamburg damals als eine Arbeiterstadt gewesen (Hammerbrook und dann Richtung Osten). Auch war Hamburg die kommunistische Hochburg in Deutschland in den zwanziger Jahren. (es geht nicht darum, ob man das gut findet, sondern zu verstehen, was Hamburg historisch eben auch gewesen ist.)

Wird so gehypt und ich war noch nie da, scheint mir alles zu udolindenbergerisch dort, muss ich nicht haben.

Du urteilst aber schnell. Lass Lindeberg beiseite, so wichtig war der nie. Ich habe 20 Jahre dort gelebt, 7 davon bin Ich zur See gefahren, weltweit-, hiess damals " grossen Fahrt." und waehrend des Studiumsund viele Jahre nich wochendweise bin ich Taxi gefahren. Mein fazit" Hamburg ist absolutl sehenwert. Sieh es dir an, aber bleib ein paar Wochen und pick die richtigen Jahreszeit. Take care!🇫🇯🌴

who and how did they build all this fine fine stuff in such a short time period of new America settlers?? Population 1 million all over americas and jhalf of them built all the buildings, furniture, etc... within 180 years with the help of pullies, Horse and cart??? we cannot even build these structures today. the first settlers inherited all this it was all already there when the first european settlers arrived hence free masonary the mason work was free. make sense, all I am saying is the time frame and build tech is not evidently there if you believe the narrative in all the histroy books and what we get told!! think about it and do your own research like me!!
