I posted on my Instagram page last week about the subject of taking Tomatoes early, and also credited your channel for the fact that this year I've been growing some Determinate varieties. Because I'm in a high Blight risk area of England, and last year much of the UK was hit hard, with many of us losing much of our crops, I decided to try getting ahead of the late Blight curve by growing some Determinates. This was simply because I'd been watching you harvest yours, and thought it better to get some crop all at once, than risk losing all of it at once. I grow all my Tomatoes outside, and no matter which Indeterminate slicer/beef varieties I choose, all will ripen from now onwards. I don't get the luxury of waiting for them to ripen on the vine. Even with the Determinate varieties, our weather has been so crazy this year, from extended cold nights, to periods of cloud cover with no rain, then 40c droughts we've never seen, straight into cycling storms... just as everything decides to ripen. If I wasn't picking my Tomatoes early, they'd either have diluted flavour profiles, or totally split. Aside from the fact that friends of mine, a few counties over, already lost their Greenhouse grown to Blight, so I'm on watch. I don't really like raw Tomatoes, and I'm allergic to the plants, but I'm a bit obsessed about growing them. One of the great things about watching other channels is constantly being inspired to change what you're doing, to hopefully stay ahead of the curve, when Mother Nature has a meltdown, and hopefully find the varieties I do like.

This will be the first time we have planted vegetables in several years. We have seeded into cell trays and given we are just coming out of winter this will help the seeds germinate.

I live in the High Desert in Los Angeles County and I like going to Farmers Markets since I can't grow too much at home. Glad I found you all. I do have a question, though, why can't I find just regular yellow corn on the cobb any more? Doesn't anyone grow it? It's all white sweet or yellow sweet and that's too much sweetness for me. That's all I remember when I was kid in the 60s and 70s and I loved it. Came from New Jersey and that's what we had there, too.

If not, the birds or mice will get them. And I have all kinds of recipes with green tomatoes too. Lauren your wife (I hope I got her name right!) has a doppelganger! One of my students! new subscriber here. up in cowgary alberta. we're getting frost in a few days and it's a longer season than usual. love your produce and abundance. i won the trust of a landowner and am building a garden in the empty lot next door to my teeny apartment almost downtown. over 250 garlic harvested this year.. i started with three heads i bought for $10.50 of organic russian jumbo 7 years ago. the ground was all rocks and weeds so i had to build my own soil getting a truckload of arborist chipped trees every year and building raised beds with boards i can get for free from construction site dumpsters etc and carry back under one arm on my bicycle. Finally getting some abundance here now. it's so great to get a few tomatoes, carrots, beets, herbs, an onion and a couple potatos and cook'em up and eat them the same day. my body loves it so much more than the storebought processed foods. the raspberry section is getting really big, super abundance there too. the layers of wood chips break down quite quickly under the surface and make super rich soil.
