I grew up watching Grace Jones...she was before her time. Tall, stunning and unapologetically avant-garde. She used to date Dolph Lundgren and they looked beautiful together, even giving him his big break in HER vehicle, A View To A Kill. Edit: Without her, we may never have had our live action He-Man😂

Another X-Men that has a odd history with race is Bishop the creator of the character wanted to have him be Filipino because he was however Marvel came to him saying they wanted a new African American character so he made Bishop African American however later it’s implied Bishop is actually Australian Aboriginal with the character Gateway being his great-grandfather however then it’s also been implied that Storm might be his grandmother So he potentially part African part Aboriginal but was originally intended to be Filipino-American

I actually meet Whilce Portacio as a teen and he never mentioned that Bishop was supposed to be as he is a Filipino American. However he did mention that Bishop was his favorite character that he ever created. He also explained that he thought about Gateway being his family to help explain the time travel but he ultimately said Bishop was supposed to be Onslaught as at the time he was the newest Xman his power allowed him to absorb energy and the energy signature that took out Jean grey in the message was Bishops energy signature.. However same as Cable Bishop just became a popular character so they kept him a good guy.

Grace Jones is so iconic as a model. Shes probably the inspiration for a lot of different characters. She totally epitomizes that 80s/90s badass look for me

I do like the idea of rogue being a southern black girl raised in a strict no-nonsense family, it just fits. Explains her not fitting in because she wants to explore different desires that are taboo in her culture... But I like her current version just fine

The artists need to give Rogue her voluptuous curves back. She was originally supposed to be irresistibly beautiful and sadly untouchable.

Please learn how to have more nuanced ways of seeing things. Also, to this day I hate how "woke" was hijacked a few years ago. Woke didn't mean being super liberal, feminist, LGBT, or race focused. It really meant people who could see the bigger picture about the world around us or the info most of the masses readily accept. It meant they questioned things, used critical thinking, read between the lines, etc... It had absolutely nothing to do with liberals vs conservatives. In fact, most who would've been considered "woke" in the original context would be those who understand the 2-party system in itself has been detrimental to the public and made the political process much easier to manipulate. And the fact that BOTH parties will protect the wealthy over the 98% when it comes down to it, one party is just more upfront about it.

Superman is an alien but a human at heart.not in that way! Stan Lee ran out of ideas on how to give people powers. The civil rights stuff came from Chris Claremont not Stan Lee. Gross. No. Rogue isn't black and was never intended to be black. You seem to have misunderstood what you saw in the video.

Originally, she had a short Mullet, which made her look like a stud.

Concept and what she became are Totally different things. People need to stop using this as a reason to want KeKe Palmer as rogue 😂

Nobody's saying Rogue's race should be changed. It is what it is now & I love her as she is. The POINT IS the fact so many wyte people get their panties in a bunch when a fictional wyte character is made non-white, when most REAL LIFE HISTORICAL FIGURES that were black were white-washed. So it's a case of, why is it fine for you & not for us. There are MORE than enough wyte characters to represent white culture, but when we get 1 extra, some wyte people have hissy fits, AS IF it's going to take away from their representation. And any1 who denies that fact is just being intellectually dishonest cuz they don't want things any other way than what jibes with THEIR worldview

I do absolutely LOVE Rogue, but having a character truly influenced after Jones look would have been amazing.

Bet you didn’t know this one: Back in the 80’s at a comic book convention at the then Sheraton Hotel NYC, there was back THEN talks about making a LIVE X-Man movie. They wanted Grace Jones to be the Windrider. They also on the panel talked about who they were who the characters were inspired by.

Rogue was fine as hell

Grace played a super villain but was the best thing in VIEW to a KILL. In CONAN the DESTROYER, she was a scene stealing heroine and too believable in all her roles. She was WILD before wild with her beautifully dark chocolate self. Her shortest funniest role was in Boomerang tho! . .👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 STRANGE'.. gone gurl ! Great singer too. Original groundbreaker, 360°of talent!

All the kids loved Wolverine but Rogue was always my favorite. Such a complex character!

Rogue is and will always be my favourite X-Men, mutant and superhero period.

When she first appeared in the comics she debuted as a villain. She looked very different from how she looked when they had her join the team. Read the comics!

Grace Jones would’ve killed it, but for that time- it’s not surprising what they decided to run with…

She was also the inspiration for Huntara in She Ra

Grace Jones, I first saw her in Conan The Destroyer, weird movie haha but damn was she fuckin ridiculously beautiful in that.

Marvel missed a huge opportunity several decades ago to make a retro live-action X-Men series starring Paul D'Amato as Wolverine, Grace Jones as Storm, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Colossus, etc.

I love Rogue! She was my like my first and only crush that was animated. Too bad she looks kind of different in X Men '97 tho.
