Did You Know That Clownfish Behavior is Dependent Upon a Unique Social Hierarchy?

Clownfish are nothing like Finding Nemo depicted. Clownfish live within a strict social hierarchy. Peter Buston, a Boston University College of Arts & Sciences associate professor of biology, has been researching this dynamic for the last 20 years, observing how the clownfish adapt and behave. For starters, they do not live with their families and live in groups of up to 6 unrelated fish. They can control how bright their colors are and how big they grow.
