What you own is a specific link that brings you to that picture on the block chain. Other people can obtain those links and sell them again to other people. And when you own a bored ape, that ape is available for anyone to use in any way. Basically this would make the albums free 😂 Just release a record independently, that’s how artists take back control 😂

All artists and musicians should take a page out of Prince the artist formerly known as book. Once you own and control your work/creation and you are talented and put in work . Then you get rich and get to move your own way . Never have to bow down or sell out . There's levels to this shit. Price and Michael Jackson were trying to expose the industry for using artists as puppets to brainwash our youth. It's embarrassing as a human race that we literally brainwash negative and destructive behavior and we see the effects of it in society now. How can musicians makes songs saying shit they would not want their own children or loved ones to Experience or mimic . That garbage as shit they call music is a cancer infecting our youth.

Look, all of you are getting mad but how many of you pay Spotify or Apple Music to stream? Answer honestly. Here’s the solve: BUY the song. Pay the damn $1.29, that way the artist then makes 60-70 cents when you purchase it on iTunes. If you like the song enough, support the artist. Don’t sit here and start blaming Spotify, they aren’t making much money as a company (yes, google it). If you’re going to blame anyone, blame yourself for streaming your music.

It’s over! Been over for years. We are still living in the Napster era without realizing it. As long as theirs no hard copy in the game, streaming can’t pay you. $3000 per million streams? Better find a better way to hustle them catalogs. Problem is poor people may all this music! Poor = desperate! Desperate people can’t make good deals. Example (and I know it was back in the CD era but the principal is still the same) The Fugees turned down their advance! They took about 10gs for miscellaneous. 6 months after the album dropped they we’re recouping ridiculous checks. The record company was paid back in 6 months and the Fugees were in the black. Big tours AND big record company checks poppin off. Big Pub too. All because they were not desperate. Rule number uno…. Do not enter into any agreement on any level if you’re the desperate party. If you’re starving starve a little longer. Buy your floss on the NEXT project! Skip all that on the first or you enter the game in the red and you’ll never catch up. Artist need to FORCE GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT on the music industry otherwise…….☹️ Chuck Schumer is the best senator you will ever have for issues like this. Or… be desperate and take short money! And shut up!

The thing is you really don’t know what the song is going to do and neither do they, they gambling just like you. He NOW has leverage to negotiate future percentages etc

This is why you shouldn't get involved with labels and stuff, I'd always recommend that rappers and singers learn to produce their own music rather than have a writer, a producer and a label all taking a cut from one project, you should at the very least after dealing with a music publishing company be getting 90% of the profits and if you get to more of a profitable stage in your career you should be contacting these music platforms like Spotify, Apple music, KZread music etc. So you can build your own relationships with them and you'll come across more as a businessman than an actual artist, this is what you need to do if you wanna take your career into your own hands.

Its a racket the streaming companies and masters of music industry have cooked up. And it wont get better until the artists and songwriters band together and fight.

Well Usher really ain't make that much either. Streams just don't pay much. Just think about how easy it is to get free music nowadays . Unfortunately this is just a bad time to be an artist.

Sorry bruh but you forget Usher’s voice , fame, dance moves , legacy , music video promotion and others also shot the record to that 7mil. If you had written and given the song to any normal artist or underground artist would the record have hit that hard. You knew what you were getting into before you started. Can we stop biting ourselves. The Business side is the problem. I feel Usher’s artistry shot the whole record into fame. What is Writing without Sound vocals, productn, amazing video , choreography and promotion…

It’s the same thing with most if not all music streaming services. That’s why it works so well in the companies favor. If you try to cancel Spotify, that won’t stop Apple or Amazon music from doing similar things and no one is going boycott all music streaming services and give up convenience to help artists make more money.
