Okay, TimeTeam has only three days for a very specific reason. Once upon a time, an archaeologist named Mick Aston had a dream that archaeology could be made interesting to the regular English person. He told a lot of people, and eventually it was decided that a three day dig, over the weekend would be a viable format. Three days, because most of the team have day jobs in various universities in England that bring in an income. This was presented to a television station, and it was picked up, lasted for twenty years, and now archaeology is now available to the entire world, in a wonderfully interesting format, with a cast that has become household names, and celebrities!

Romans drank wine, mostly. Beer was looked down on by the snobs of the time (they used some pretty nasty words for Belgian ale), but I'm sure locals would've enjoyed something like it.

Once again, I tumble into an episode I've never seen before. Magic!!

This episode was filmed in 2002. Jean Mullinger passed away in january, 2019.

LOL, yeah, I also noticed that, but I don't think it is a pipe, but instead a rounded stone from the gravel that fell and left the hole. The side of the trench has lots of those protruding.

i've always wondered why spectacular archaeology on private property hasn't been completely excavated, surrounding land reduced in grade, and the remnants not incorporated into newer buildings and re-used. Think Windsor Castle... The tourist trade alone would be large.

What was the word they used for the Roman beer? 46.17 Xiphos? I thought that was a short sword. Couldn't find anything similar online relating to beverages.

I am not to the point in this video where the word is used but I am almost certain that this will answer your question. The word xiphos (ξίφος) is a short sword. The word zythos (ζυθος) is beer.

I am finding this episode confusing. They started out showing diagrams from the previous digs. Then they spent a lot of time looking for roads. Maybe it will all make sense at the end.

Because in general digging into previously dug places is a waste of time, and the recording of the previous dig, despite being amateur, was really good. It already provided much info, which was interpreted by the current archeologists. Knowing that they really needed to confirm the context, and look for the stores front. there they hit the jackpot, the tessellated floor.

If the authorities requested that the existence of the site not be publicized, how did it get chosen by Time Team? That seems the least discrete way to investigate a site.

because of all the roots and plants. The only form of geophysics they did at this time was electro-resistance, and it doesn't work when you have dense vegetation because the plants show up bright and make it impossible to see if there's anything else

Thank you for the video, I found out that investing is not for everybody, you just need a strong stomach too see your portfolio go down. It might be wiser for a novice to start with copy trading investing, but it is not easy. To invest in growth stocks it is another level, definitely you need to know what are you doing.

From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $255k in raw profits from just 6 months into the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy, mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

She is a popular broker you might have heard of. I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial advisor as her diversification skills are top notch, because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis, unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along, my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.

Why do they always have such a short time to work? Why can't they take six weeks if they need it? Are they just trying to create artificial suspense.

It was meant to be a form of investigative dig. They try to obtain as much evidence as possible in 3 days to see if there is any need for a more extensive dig later. Digs take some funding and it is cheaper to do short digs to get evidences before approval for more funding than to gamble loads of funding and achieve nothing.
