I come out of nowhere, but I have a small theory. Quick disclaimer: I am no expert, and this is completely personal. I think it's two things. Perception and timing. Firstly, after checking a lot of pictures from Ei's crimson moon, it almost appears... dormant? It's not nearly as threatening as Arlecchino's. Again, this is just my take on it. During Arlecchino's fight, it feels completely different, in the sense that the Crimson Moon seems "active" in this fight. Perhaps fueling Arlecchino's powers? Or her powers happen to be from the Moon itself? I just felt like the Moon was a much more active participant, acting like a real, tangible threat on the field. In Ei's place, it was just "there," tern in the background just chilling, and I don't know if I am making sense, lol. Also timing. And that's where my theory comes in, and it goes back to the Caribert quest. As we all know here, it happens after Sumeru's Archon Quest, long after Inazuma. And we relive our twin's memory of that event. Though it was never stated that we only had access to that memory in particular or many more. Our twin saw the Moon in the WWBR trailer. Perhaps this is where we remember it from? The timing would fit too since Caribert happens after Ei's fight. Anyway. That was my tiny grain of salt, and again, I could be wrong or missing key points 😊

We are losing our minds as we still traverse though each region we basically gotta fight a war in every nation for no damn reason mondstat- fought a dragon , and got kicked by a harbinger liyue- fought a harbinger, dragon, a god, that gods wife, a cult inazuma- fought a archon, and that archons sassy daughter twin, and 2 harbingers sumueru- we fight against the education system which in all honesty has got to be the worst out of all of them. and a whole evangelion and 2 harbingers, not to mention the amount of racism along the way. fontaine- we watched a whole city drown, and experienced a whole womans mental breakdown, and a Kdrama from navia. and now we casually get PTSD form being looked at by another harbinger and above all that we're going to natlan LAND OF THE DRAGONS and war which we clearly cannot avoid fighting in every nation that has a damn dragon there aren't and breaks on this ride there a harbingers there that we know of capitano, stronger the alrechinno it's war so that means we probably gonna watch people die again like in inazuma more too come its crazy being a traveler at least one that can traverse worlds

Genshin has very little continuity between different types of quests. Dain appears in World and Archon Quests. Arle's quest was a Story Quest. Meaning, most things we see or hear in char/story quests will be ignored or re-introduced in other quests.

@@sarwatarannya8786 In case of ZL's second Story Quest you couldn't start it without doing the AQ "We will be Reunited". Sometimes you also need to do SQ to proceed with an AQ/WQ (Razor SQ before WwbR). But this is not the case for most chars' SQ. So I guess it's better to say that they might or might not be canon. In case of Arle we'll have to see if her SQ is linked to any other quests in the future.

In Traveler's voiceline “About the Eclipse Tribe,” Traveler starts thinking something after hearing of an eclipse symbol and avoids Paimon's question. I think Traveler feels suspicious about Eclipse or Crimson Moon at least.

i think traveler was afraid of moon instead of arle bcz they didn't even move their eyes and when arle put her hand on his shoulder it felt like traveler suddenly come to his senses....as if possessed or intrigued by moon......

the traveler was wake up in kaenri'ah by his sibling so they most likely saw the crimson moon

Definitely triggered a khanrean(i cant spell) memory since he remembered basically nothing except losing to our beloved heavenly principles. I dont think ei's domain had "crimson moon" intentions, it was more so red for the dramatic effect to show ei's emotion of sadness and sorrow after losing everyone. It even brightened after she saw yae miko again

I like to think it's actually an undead form of one of the Moon Sisters.

The would assume the Crimson Moon taking revenge on the Eclipse Dynasty is a reference to Rhinedottr’s creations that she made through alchemy (which is what the Crimson Moon Dynasty focused on) is what actually destroyed Khaenriah. This could actually mean she unleashed her creations as revenge for the Crimson Moon dynasty.

I dunno about you, but if I'm in a life or death situation, I get pulled into a domain with an imposing red moon, I don't spontaneously turn into shakespeare and say that this moon is "crimson". I'd say red moon, or blood moon, but crimson moon seems like a strangely accurate comment from the Traveler

funfact: unlike in lumine flashback where the moon becomes crimson bc it reflects the red color from the destruction of khaenriah, in ei&arle domains the moon is crimson bc there is something behind it, it creates those red flames that leaks around the moon. the source of arlecchino's bloodline power is not the moon but something behind the moon.

I think it was just the travelers "paimon" moment, which is there to emphasize the term "crimson moon" for players who are not closely following the lore and missed this info, or may have forgotten about it.

The traveler was only afraid of Arlecchino because he was immobilized and had no way to defend himself, but of course it could also be related to the crimson moon. From the traveler's quote he possibly knows or has seen the crimson moon before, it could be in teyvat or in another world.

1. Kazuah did not fight under a crimson moon but it looked crimson in the pale light surrounding the cherry trees 2. Ei's Crimson Moon was as you mentioned a memory while Al's is ... kinda the real thing (they look very different even though you might take them as equal) Also the traveler may not mention it because he/she him/herself did not understand a thing because the Traveler looks peculiar baffeld by the fact he/she is scared in the first place. It is not like "Oh i am scared" it is more like "Wtf is going on? Why am i shaking? Is this fear in the first place?" and maybe is has less to do with history but with the future of the traveler because until now he/she has only used his/her real power on certain occasions and kinda rather like instinctive. My guess is that this is hinting on the travelers power beeing bound to reason and willpower and because the traveler looked through Al's play in the beginning he/she had less power due to the fact he/she knew that Al's had no killing intend thus his/her power was lacking due to the fact that the travelers reasoning or will to defeat Al was not strong enough. Al is a very deep character with a very certain view on strength so i guess her words on it to the traveler are missunderstood in the first place. It is not about brute force because Al is brute force held back wich kinda should take more strength then to give into it and needs reason and she has three to begin with. So in my opinion the traveler was scared because he just did not want to hurt Al in the first place having figured out her intentions and was surprised by the fact Al would show her true strength for wich he/she was unprepared because the traveler had NO REASON to fight Al because he/she figured her out (the smartness of the traveler is stated many times).

Interesting Theory; given that the twins are from beyond the stars, perhaps they ran into some variation of the Crimson Moon before coming to Teyvat. It could be that Crimson Moon Dynasty was connected to outside Teyvat and the origins of Khaenriah

I personally thought the traveler seemed confused or shocked by the moon instead of fearful. He seemed to have a "put a pin in that for later" tone.

Another theme that reappears in a strangely large amount of cultures is The Thunder god and a Sea Serpent having some connection. Usually it’s that the two feud, so like Thor and Jormangandyr or Susanoo and Orochimaru, or they could be brothers like in this one African epic called the Epic of Mwindo.

I personally don't think the traveler was shaking, rather, I believe he was attempting to move but couldn't. Arlecchino's lineage seems to have been blursed by the Crimson Moon. Which may be a Lovecraft reference to groth and blood born, where the Moon emanator gives rise to a monstrous appearance, and where the red-eyed Moon arrives on a world with God's it wakes up and brings destruction. And in Genshin, The Crimson Moon is a symbol of calamity. Appearing in Khaenri'ah during the cataclysm, and then at the fall of Remuria. And considering The Traveler is from a dead world, they might've seen it when their world was destroyed. Arlecchino may have reminded them of something they've witnessed.

the crimson moon is also in Raiden domain i think it there considering Raiden settle i a place where time does not pass soo she is kind of still in kenriah where her sister died

eh, ig. id always assumed they came during the eclips dynasty because: 1. the traveler being asleep for thousands of years while the sibiling did whatever just sounds odd lol 2. the universitas magistrorum: ""O Almighty Sovereign, the Universitas Magistrorum has provided the predictions you requested: The two stars have been captured by the world's gravity... After a lengthy orbital period, today their paths shall intertwine once more." Furthermore we know the sibiling lived with Pierro for a time, who served the eclipse dynasty. and the way clothar speaks of the sibiling makes it sound like they arrived during clothars time, which again, was during the eclipse dynasty

The Crimson Moon is also similar to the Alluring Eclipse. Just like how the Alluring Eclipse is just a trailer for what the Complete Eclipse is going to be, the powers of the Crimson Moon Dynasty that the Traveller faced while fighting Arlecchino is only a trailer for what the powers Eclipse Dynasty is awaiting for him when he faces Dainsleif in the future. The traveller really needs a powerup big time if he is to survive in Teyvat now.

Other than the cataclysm and kazuhas trailer traveler has seen the crimson moon in all of those areas because he’s been to all of them so- he probably recognized it and thought it was connected to the cataclysm.

I think it was as simple as the Traveler recognizing that Arlecchino is from (or at least has her power from) Khaenri'ah that made them scared. I also think that Arlecchino's power is somehow related to the alchemical practice that Gold created that facilitated (or exasterbated) the cataclysm, and I have a feeling that alchemy is something the traveler knows more than we think. I think we're overdue for a Dainsleif quest (4.7 in early June?!) so I will be paying EXTREMELY close attention to what he has to say then.

If the playable Traveler was the one that was asleep while the other did witness the khaneriah crimson dynasty or at least heard about it if summoned by the eclipse one... Dunno which one did, how could he recognize that crimson moon? He probably thought back of EI's electro archons plane of euthamya moon that changed color with her mood.... Would be more fitting no?

well we dont know if they recognized the moon or not. although technically speaking, they shouldnt given the crimson moon dynasty was before they came to teyvat. i find it odd if this scene was a reference to Ei's plane they wouldn't have made that more clear given how common a blood moon theme is
