Did TENPENNY work for TORENO? | Why CJ didn't eliminate TENPENNY with WOOZIE'S HELP?
Ойындар
In this episode, we decided to take a look at two questions from the comment section. Did Tenpenny work for Mike Toreno, and why CJ didn't make up his mind regarding asking Woozie for help in taking care of Tenpenny? Both of these questions can be quite straightforward at first, but if we are looking for a more extensive answer, we have to dig deeper.

Carl said so himself “it’s going to get handled when it’s time”. He knew how dangerous Tenpenny was and the connections he had. During San Fierro, Carl had no clue whether Woozie would back him up against a cop with his own policing unit, and their demise would draw attention. In Las Venturas, Woozie already had problems with the mob and paying officials to keep a blind eye off their casino. Besides even if CJ would seek vengeance on Tenpenny for his actions, he would need legit support and quite frankly Woozie owed him nothing by the time of Carl’s return to Los Santos because Woozie willed it so. Going after Tenpenny by this point would mean going into the Los Santos Police Station because Tenpenny was arrested to stand trial for the crimes he has committed, or more specifically was under police custody for the trial, and he was absent for about two months. By the time he was free Carl actually searched for him to enact revenge for his crimes against the city and his family and gang , but had no idea where he was and likely hoped Smoke would give him the information he needed. In the end Tenpenny caused his own downfall because he was in the wrong place in the wrong time, just as Carl planned.

I felt like at the end of the game. CJ wanted to "clean his own mess". Basically fix the mistakes of his five years of inaction and letting his brother die. So it'd be weird if he also involved the triads, as CJ mentally wanted to solve the problems he "caused" by himself.

Mhm yeah, that's actually a good point. We don't see CJ trying to involve his friends in all this. Cesar and Kendl help him a lot, but he didn't ask them for help. The same goes for Woozie, except this one time during the "Jizzy" mission when it comes to the pictures of the members of the Loco Syndicate. Thanks for your input, man!

The mission name itself catalyst might be a clue,as the freight train contains weapons to support a specific organization thus giving it the name Catalyst This is my own theory, what do you think? We could also investigate the mission names, the reason why is it named like that and what possible effects the mission can cause because that might give us a clue from what we're looking for If not,ask rockstar lmfao

Interesting idea, although we are pretty sure that mission names are just a subtle way of making a reference to what the mission is going to be about. We highly doubt that there is something top secret hidden in these titles, but thanks for the suggestion.
Because CJ knows how powerful Tenpenny is, he probably never have plotted how to eliminate him since he has CJ's contact number and home address. Not to mention, he threatened CJ if he were to interfere with his business, he would have Sweet killed. Tenpenny who is a threat to Grove Street wouldn't work for Toreno.

Yes because, as you pointed out, it was too risky a job.
Unlikely that Tenpenny worked for Toreno. Tenpenny is street level and has no skills that would help Toreno. As for the Woozie part I guess Carl sees it as his problem and doesn't want to get the triad wrapped up in it. Also by the time of home in the hills, cj is already a partner of the casino so woozie would help seeing as Carl helped him with alot of his issues that he didn't have to get involved in
Ofcourse woozie and triads didn't know why cj have a problems to tenpenny so if cj ask a help for woozie, tenpenny will gonna need a new plan since tenpenny is also have a plans in all times so CJ didn't ask a question to triads and to woozie because triads and woozie don't care just my opinion

Plus also something I didn't think about what Toreno talked about Sweet with CJ at the Ranch. He does mention that Tenpenny and Eddy were smaller evils in that scale of good and evil and whatnot what have you. Tenpenny was a pawn if indeed Toreno was working as a overarching boss over the two antagonists.
CJ could have asked Woozie for help but could not since Woozie is not familiar with the situation in Los Santos and he did not want to risk his life for no real benefit But this did more good to him as he got 1/3rd of four dragons casino shares As for Toreno why will he use Local state police officers for his international pursuit??

Woozie Would Risk His Life If Cj Had Wanted Them To Take Out Tenpenny And Pulaski And Possibly Leaving Jimmy Hernandez Alive And No Tenpenny And His Crew Weren't Working With Toreno
@gaminginvestigators

Huh, that's something new. We don't know what to think about this "not knowing the situation in Los Santos" to be honest. When we do understand getting benefits and all, we are not sure whether knowing the situation in Los Santos would make Woozie help CJ with Tenpenny, at least not at the San Fierro stage of the game. Speaking of Mike Toreno, we actually think that CJ wasn't the only puppet in Toreno's game. The guy has so many connections and influence he could have many people in his grasp. Unfortunately, we don't know everything that Toreno planned to do here in San Andreas...

Asking for Triad help to get Sweet out of prison may have been a better idea. He would have made a good temporary associate for Woozie, and CJ would have had more freedom too. The hood can be reconquered and Tenpenny can be killed later.

Yeah, you have a valid point right there. Just like the user Miguel said, there were no fingerprints of CJ on the gun, he left the airport literally 10 minutes ago or so. My personal theory...... CJ just think didn't about it. I think that CJ despite being an already accomplished gangster with lots of connections, CJ still had a deep-rooted fear of Tenpenny. He thinks of him as someone who is untouchable. And, can you blame him? Before the beginning of the storyline CJ was just a petty criminal in Liberty City and before that when he was just a teenager living in Los Santos with his family, Tenpenny had a vice-grip on all the gangs of Los Santos, including grove street. So even after getting older he still has the thought process of "Tenpenny is untouchable and if I disobey him, he will harm me, my friends and my family, even though that fear is unfounded as Toreno made sure that Sweet could not be harmed in any way. So, in conclusion CJ's past experiences with Tenpenny affected his judgement on wether to follow him or disobey and try to take him down.

Cj Didn't Really Fear Tenpenny Since He Always Calls Him Names All The Time But Just Because Toreno Said Sweet Was In Control From Getting Any Harm Tenpenny Would Still Plan Out Something To Get Rid Of Sweet If Cj Failed One Of Thier Problems With The Law

I agree kinda but like CJ said in mission King in Exile: "Its going to get handled, when its time." CJ didn't fear Tenpenny but he knew, that at that time Tenpenny was way too powerful so he made moves to make Big Smoke's and Tenpenny's empire fall enough to strike

That sounds like a really valid point! The fear in CJ's mind regarding Tenpenny could definitely be one of the factors that made him not think about asking Woozie for help. Tenpenny has always had the upper hand so this might be a big demotivation for CJ. Excellent analysis, my man!

Maybe Toreno wanted the freight train interrupted for the same reason that he made Carl blow up that cargo plane full of landmines later in the game. And for CRASH they were killing two birds with one stone by doing this job for the leader of the syndicate and also making the gangs kill each other.
Here's another idea, could cj have tried to talk to hernandez (or vice verca) in secrecy since hernandez didn't like the other two

CJ didn't like Hernandez either.
One thing I wanna know is if CJ is working for Toreno and furthering his interests why didn't Toreno get involved to help get rid of Tenpenny as he was directly interfering with Mike's business. Why did the two never cross paths and was Toreno aware of what Tenpenny was doing?
What I never got is that CJ single handedly takes down a military base and also the other base where the winch chopper is yet numerous times he approaches tenpenny and pulaski where he could've just killed them from a distance lol. Like when they were grilling and they didn't see Carl until he was all the way in the yard. So CJ can straight wreck military equiped with M4s but can't take out two pigs with only pistols? That always bothered me. Also when CJ betrays Salvatore by robbing Caligula's casino Salvatore knew it was him and said his whole family would die. So CJ will betray and not even kill a legit Don but won't even consider going after tenpenny? Weird.

My question is: was the reporter assassination mission led by Tempeny his best opportunity to screw Tempeny? CJ could simple say that he killed the reporter (saying for him to lay low) and let the evidence find his way to feds, I doubt that he would have time to do anything by the time that he was accused, or else he would leave a trail.

I don't think Tenpenny is working for Toreno because Tenpenny is just manipulating gang violence into his favor while Toreno is mostly about off-the books gov't operations as well as fighting against rival gov't agents, and of course, if Tenpenny and Pulaski kill CJ, they'll incur Toreno's wrath because he has very outstanding feats and he's been very useful to him. Tenpenny is worse and Toreno is mysterious
Sorry I'm 2 weeks late to the party, everyone. In my belief, rhis entire just seems to twist the real-life story of raoper 2Pac Shakur and his music manager Suge Knight ever so slightly. I think Toreno may possibly be based off Kevin Hackie, a real-life government spy for the FBI who'd gone undercover as one of 2Pac's main bodyguards, presumably so the government could keep inner circle tabs on Suge Knight and his Death Row Records label, as I think the government had caught wind of off duty corrupt police officers working for Death Row records whilst violating the law in serious, serious ways. There are many, many signs that the exploits of Suge Knight along with the rest of Death Row records served as one of the numerous major inspiring events to have transpired in real life. There's the fact that: • CJ, a signifcant member of a local gang, ends up working for Madd Dogg as a records label manager (in the exact same fashion of Suge), with the character of rapper Madd Dogg being a pun on Snoop Dog (a real-life rapper who'd been assigned to Suge's Death Row Records company in the 90's) • In the mission "Photo Opportunity", CJ and Caesar snap photos Jizzy B. and his suspected cohorts as they spy on them from afar. It's revealed in Nick Broomfield's real-life documentary, titled "Biggie & Pac", that the government had apparently been spying on rapper Notorious B.I.G. as well, as can be confirmed in a scene where director Nick Broomfield sits down with Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace along with former Biggie Smalls co-rapper Lil' Cease as they examine a photo of the Notorious B.I.G. taken from afar by a government agent. The entire situation at Death Row Records over in California was tightly woven with the affairs of the Notorious B.I.G. over in New York at the time • Suge Knight and his corrupt police officers also seemed to be heavily involved in the drug trade at the time, including the real-life 90's cocaine epidemic, mirroring the in-game fanaticism of cocaine that CJ adamantly battles to keep off his gang's block - Consequently, these facts lead me to believe that Toreno was assigned by higher-ups in the government to spy on the activities of CJ in an attempt to keep tabs on their center target - Tenpenny and the rest of the corrupt C.R.A.S.H officers (another point, the real-life corrupt police officers working at Death Row were themselves members of Los Angeles county's real-life C.R.A.S.H. unit).
