Summer body series!!! It might be too late for that because of the way content is planned but that would be awesome. A series with great tasting, Ross approved foods that aren't your standard chicken breast + steamed veggies and rice.

''Gorgeous Man Alert'' at this point, carla knows her audience too well
One thing about Karla - her nails will ALWAYS be on point. Never a chip or smudge. These are so cute!
Parsley is one of the most nutrient-dense plants there is. For anyone wondering, the number 1 is watercress.

I adore watercress and add a bit to most salads and many dishes I make. (It’s excellent mixed with baby spinach, radishes and mushrooms in a salad or wrap.) I love the bite. Cress sprouts aren’t readily available so I fine chop watercress leaves to add to my eggy salad. Yum.
Carla adding extra noodles for tasters so that nobody's serving size is compromised, is the most relatable (and appropriate) part of this lovely recipe.
This woman's laugh is a shot of serotonin! Love it!
Haha, the fat convo was hilarious. I get his point but I will always start my dishes with a generous pour of olive oil. 😂
"get yourself a ross" CARLA I'M TRYING
the stomach ache from all the protein could be related to your fiber intake! when you eat a lot of protein you also need to take in a lot of fiber to help your gut out. and with the powders specifically you could be allergic/intolerant to a specific kind. i can’t have whey protein so i use plant protein 😌
So clearly you have a camera in my kitchen. I make this dish almost every week and it’s 95% exactly the same - down to the shape and brand of pasta and brand of tuna. The only thing different is I’ve not added an egg but, if I have them, I DO add chopped Matiz Piparra peppers (or jarred banana peppers) for a pickled heat. There are also Portuguese brands of tuna in oil and some have lemon or piri piri, or mohlo cru that appear. Crazy how two people can create the exact same thing!
for the first time in my life i watched a recipe video and IMMEDIATELY decided to make it!! had only yellow onions, and lacked lemon and any herbs, but added some white wine vinegar instead and YUMMMMMM DELISH!!!!!!! this is such a fun and simple recipe, also i had a jar of capers in my home for the first time bc i was gonna make another thing and this was a perfect first use of them!!! really loved this video!!
Justice for tuna noodle casserole
Carla using a vessel too small to measure her pasta is so on brand. ❤
I think it's very interesting to discuss the nutritional value of our meals and be aware of the tradeoffs we make when trying to make something more delicious or more healthy. More delicious doesn't always have to mean less healthy and vice versa, but that's something you need to experiment with and pay attention to. Sadly, toxic diet culture has made these discussions very emotionally loaded for some folks or even dangerous to people with eating disorders, so it's definitely tough to approach the subject with the general public in mind. Thank you Carla for giving it a try, I found it very entertaining and would love to see more of that, especially when it's light-hearted and fun like this video!
As a type 1 diabetic i need to be low carb or carb conscious but im pro fat. Like id modify this, for myself, by going with that smaller amount of portion pasta and tossing in chickpeas or another good pasta legume (yes I know they have carbs too but its supplemented with fiber and protein that lowers the net carb count). Love a tinned fish pantry pasta

I frequently use chickpea or red lentil pasta for the lower carb/added protein, plus I’ll cook with avocado oil and finish with EVOO, both of which are heart healthy. I was surprised he only addressed the fat, but not the type of fat.
I’ve been waiting all my life for this
I love this channel because it helps my thinking be more open hearted. Thank You!
Carla this is why I love you! This dish is nothing fancy yet the way you combined the ingredients is such a step up from an everyday meal. I just finished making this and it’s incredible! Thank you ❤
Thanks Carla !!
I had no idea what to have for dinner but watched this video and immediately made it. It was SO GOOD! Thank you!!
you brought steaming into my life and now i'm totally with you
I love this recipe!! Thank you Carla!!!
First, I’m going to make this. I think I’ve made half of that sounds so good. But, I LOVE THESE NAILS!!! I always love your nails 💅, but these are so bright, and fabulous and fun!! ✨✨✨
This pantry pasta was so simple and easy to follow I made this after I came home from a night out drinking. It turned out amazing even though I cooked it absolutely drunk, and all the beautiful carbs and protein prevented me from getting a hangover! Thank you for sharing this recipe Carla, It’ll definitely became a main staple in my weekly meals.
Hello! Two things that helped me with the protein stomach aches and such: 1) if you put protein powder in double the volume of water the package recommends that helps. It dilutes the solution and makes it easier for the body to process, in my experience. 2) if you’re starting to eat more protein, always try to eat it with some sort of carb. In my experience, that helped with digestion. The carb can be anything from rice to pasta, fruit or vegetable.
@Sdority905

Exactlyn protein must be eaten with carbs together...it's something about the digestion but also how and where the nutrients are stored in your body and where the calories go.
I agree with the trainer on cutting the oilve oil down to 2 tbsp max for the onions. Personally myself I'd wilt in a ton of spinach or kale into the finished product and use a tuna and/or other fish not stored in oil just to bring the overall fat content down in the dish. Yeah, the finished product won't be as rich but it'll probably have more balanced macros overall. Could also just try to cut down your fat in other dishes you eat for the rest of the day as well to counter balance one dish that's higher in fats if you're tracking macros across your whole daily diet.

Yummy on the spinach. I add baby spinach or some zucchini to most pasta dishes to get my greens in. I’m plannng to try adding some chunks of charred romaine since I have a few heads hanging out in my fridge.

I love when my stomach - carla's videos connection gets synchronized
I’ve watched you for years, since ba days, and Seeing the sukang ilocano cameo makes me love you even more❤❤❤ literally one of my favorite condiments.
I'm a researcher and study the microbiome so I loveee talking about this stuff. My orgain protein doesn't make me constipated but I recently bought owyn protein shakes t bring as snack to work and I had to stop because I wasn't going regularly and girlll my bodies got a clock so I wasn't having it with that protein
Making this ASAP!
So trippy! I was just thinking about if I could use up my tuna cans in something.
Note that protein powder mixed with almond milk, yields constipation . However,, if you make a smoothie with high fiber fruit added and protein powder, it’s not as severe .
Im drooling!!!
I love this conversation- such an easy and lovely back and forth- you don’t let that olive 🫒 oil shame you 😂
Carla, your channel is a wonderful surprise today. Happy new subscriber!
Gotta definitely give this a try. My mother used to make warm tuna pasta when I was a kid, but she used Mayo as a sauce, and this feels like that only deconstructed.
Loved this recipe!! Soon as I saw it i had to make it. I didnt have capers on hand so I subbed with some chopped marinated green olives and it worked wonderfully, will be making on repeat!
I found that steaming fresh eggs is the best way to get them peeled without taking half the egg with it!
Carla! You've invented the first recipe I've tried with that Banza chickpea "pasta" that actually tastes delicious!!! I was looking for something Ultra Protein and have had that stuff languishing in my pantry for ages and I thought hey, lemon, olive oil, and parsley go with chickpea, why not try it? And it was sooo good. The texture of everything else hid that weird grainy texture bean pasta can have and the chickpea taste just fit in with everything. So now I've got a go-to big gains dinner TYSM!
Approx. 50g of protein per portion (and that's a generous portion) is excellent! I'll try this with perhaps water-packed tuna and I'm thinking to use half the amount of oil for the onions; hope the steaming method will minimize any charring! 🤞
@Loki-pz1uk

you can splash a little water into the pan every once in a while to help prevent charring! ❤ i’m going to make this too with water packed tuna; it sounds delicious.
I love throwing tuna into pasta! Love it for something like a putanesca or even with any sort of red sauce
Food is the best indeed!
I like how Carla is fighting for us olive oil lovers! Thanks for standing your ground!
Keep up the good work Carla and yes more Ross on the channel!
I would LOVE to see more protein-focused meals like this!
Made this recipe for the family, and it is so fantastic!! Gotta watch those onions when they're steaming, though. I kinda charred mine but the dish still was so flavorful. I got tuna in water and added a little grated parmesan to the servings. This will be my go-to meal from now on.
No Carla, no one said that. But we'll still watch your recipe for it.
She takes a principles first approach like an engineer or physicist. In a world where so much media content seems too have to many opinions being presented as facts, this video is refreshing
I LOVE FOOD SO MUCHHHH
RE: the protein belly... If you're hitting your protein goals you have to hit your fiber goals too, and drink lots of water. Took me years of trying to live the high protein life to learn this but once I did it was life changing! I count my overall calories, protein and fiber when tracking. Thats it. Let your heart lead the way with fat & carb macros ❤
I feel like you’ve been reading my mind. I recently had a craving for tuna pasta even though I used to hate it! 😭
Mama Carla got gunz 💪🏻👩🏻🍳
Hi, Nashville native here. Arnold's is a "meat and three" setup, which is originally a Nashville concept. You got a really authentic experience, and Arnold's is one of the best! Prince's is the OG, but the original location no longer exists and I feel like it's never been the same. I will say that Hattie B's, although it seems touristy, it is CONSISTENT. Operationally, they have it down compared to the smaller businesses, which is a shame. After trying all the places, I still believe Hattie B's is definitely the juiciest. Next time, try somewhere that serves hot catfish!!!
I only eat tuna occasionally, so I have to say I’m not a big tuna fan, but this just looks scrumptious…… gonna have to try this one. 😍
Totally right about the spider. It changed my life
Truvani protein powder is the only one I’ve ever found that doesn’t have stomach side effects and drinks a lot smoother without the typical protein shake taste or texture. And too much protein can upset your stomach, especially if you increase suddenly - you may be consuming too much for your size, but it also depends on what you’re eating with it. The best thing anyone can do is eat balanced meals because macros and such will naturally fit into what’s already on your plate.
Whole grain or garbanzo-based pasta would bulk up values here and play well with those intense flavors. Serve with a mound of dark greens for more vitamins. Never not using olive oil-packed fish, though. 🐟

Yes on the chickpea or red lentil pasta. I’ve been substituting it to up the protein value, also a big yes on tossing in some spinach (or grilled zucchini ;)). It elevates that tuna pasta to another level. Yum!
Orgain Vegan Protein powder has worked wonders for me. It doesn’t make you feel bloated and heavy like other whey protein powder. Specifically, the chocolate one is my favorite.
Damn good! I saw this last night and had to make it TODAY!! I've always been a fan of tuna noodles thanks to my ex but this is a much fancier version I'll will do from now on! Thanks Carla!!! 🤤🐟👍
I do a similar recipe with sardines or mackerel and it is delish
Ooooh! Yummy yummy! I was all planned with Zucchini for tomorrow (which needs to use up), but this certainly sounds like a Fishy Friday pasta. Needed to soft boil some eggs anyways (to go with some blackbean soup). Looking forward to this. I might float a bit of baby spinach in with the tuna. Greens are good (and I’ve a huge bag of baby spinaches ;))
Love the Carla Vibes
To make protein powder or heavy protein meals heavier to digest: Here in Spain you can easily find an ingredient called "salvado de avena" (i think it translates to oat bran? it's a coarse powder made from the outer layer of oat grains). It's similar to oat itself but has a lot more protein and more importantly, fiber. Adding a teaspoon or two to a protein shake makes it more nutritious and easier to digest. The tough texture might put some people off as it does make the shake grainy, but you can alleviate that by soaking it in milk before blending it so it adds more creaminess instead. Another trick (unrelated to digestion) I found is to swap peanut butter (whenever using) with defattened peanut powder. Essentially the same ingredient but with the oil from the peanut removed. Natural oil from nuts is definitely healthy but if you use it nut butters to increase your protein intake very regularly it tends to be a little too much for me.
yes, more Ross. and LOVE your outfit too, Carla, especially the skinny lemon yellow waistband. perfect with the tuna pasta. like, YUM! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊💛
coming back to comment that I just made this and it was sooooooo damn good. Definitely going to be a staple dinner!!! Thank you carla!
I always add vinegar instead of lemon. Which is why I have six (no, seven!) different kinds of vinegar, and no lemons, in my kitchen.
I'm not the healthiest eater and love cooking but her trainer's kinda got a point about all that oil. Seems pretty reasonable. It might not be as flavorful but I can still see it being good with tuna with water or less oil in the onions to make it steam.
This looks like a much better version of the cream of mushroom tuna noodle casserole.
Tuna casserole is a fave of my kids 😂
I make something very similar to this and yes, its delicious. Im surprised that you hated tuna casserole though.....I love that too.
I love this! Onions give me a stomach ache but I’ve discovered that you can caramelize fennel and any anise flavor that might conflict with the other flavors is undetectable once you do that. Also, as I’m imagining how delicious this will taste my brain is asking how a bit of a radicchio, pleasantly bitter element would play with these flavors?
This is the masterpiece of tuna pasta. This is Leonardo Da Vinci level. Wow. 👌👌
Try TRUVANI protein powder! A bit pricey…. But worth it! Want to look for a protein powder that has very little ingredients; all the fillers tend to be what’s causing the stomachache
I came up with my own recipe for tuna casserole with a proper white sauce and sharp white cheddar, lots of fresh mushrooms and vegetables and herbs, and it was tasty at first, but now I’m not such a fan. Gotta try this one though. Can’t imagine it reheated though…
12:08 LOL!!!!
gotta get some capers, but I have everything else around already! Totally gonna make this one over the weekend :D
“Get yourself a Ross…” bwaaahaaahaaa 😂❤
could we use the drained oil from the tune to cook the onions to compromise on the oil packed tuna?
I have never seen Carla pick up a stray pasta
Food is good, but Carla is GREAT!!
I improvise using caper brine when in need of an acidic flavor
Hey Carla, how should we do the onions if we dont have a lid? Love the recipe!
Hi Carla! Im a dietitian and yes an increase in protein can cause stomach upset. Try to increase your water intake and aim for about 30 grams per meal to help with that feeling!
The people aka me needs to know about that wooden not so spoon/spatula you’re always using. I am always obsessed with it when you bust it out 😂😍

Water tuna supremacy because a tin of tuna should not cost 5 dollars
About protein intake - Yes, if you're not already accustomed to a high protein diet, your stomach will be mildly upset at you (protein farts are REAL 😭). I love protein powder as a busy college student, but the ones that make my stomach unhappy is powders contain whey concentrate, which contains some lactose content. Whey isolate has all of the lactose processed out. If you have a general dairy allergy plant based powders also exist. Other protein products that I am a fan of are Premier and Fairlife protein shakes. I also like Barebells protein bars but those are pretty expensive at $2 a serving, so I've settled for Pure Protein bars. Those have that dense chewy texture that's pretty common to all protein bars but it's not as bad as Quest. And Ross is right about carbs. They're great because its your body's preferred source of energy for day to day function. Higher carb diets are more beneficial to performance in the gym.
Could you use the oil from the tuna jar to cook the onions?
I watched this whilst eating a massive bag of crisps and drinking wine in the bath. I chose to believe that Carla, and Ross, and Ross’ massive shoulders support me in that and I simply will not be corrected
@CarlaLalliMusic123

Indeed
Use the tuna oil and 1/8 cup olive oil for the onions, then you can have both and the nice man can't complain
I always wondered if the fat macros on the tuna packed in oil considered i was draining it first, or no. could you use the tuna oil to cook the onions instead? then use a little fresh drizzle at the end for a compromise?
You should get used to the protein intake, but it will likely take a while. I supplement with quite a bit of protein powder now. The potential digestive issues seem to be offset by regular vegetable intake -- mainly bell peppers, zucchini, and tomatoes. It works for me, anyway. Cutting the fat is definitely the hardest part of adhering to a balanced macro diet. Listen to Ross and you'll see results.
When I started going to the gym the protein was a hard one. But now I ate 4 eggs for breakfast no problem 😅
gorgeous nails once again carla
