I have respect for him being not only funny at times, but has feelings to share and a sense of doing something honorable as sacrificing himself to save his friends and the potential groups to seek redemption. I want to point out that if God is in this show (maybe later on in the seasons), saw everything without anyone noticing, saw Sir Pentious’s sacrifice and gave him that chance into Heaven. And right in front of Sera and Emily, but passing Heaven’s Gate.

Could be possible that someone is hiding that rule on purpose. Sera is a pretty sus character when she appeared because she wasn't so keen on the idea of letting redeemed sinners into heaven. And when Sir Pentious arrived to heaven, she had this "oh, no…" look and wasn't excited like Emily. I think the old order of angels (back from Lucifer's time) are behind this and they have Sera ensure that the current generation of angels and demons remain ignorant of this fact in order to retain their "balance" of law and order

From context clues I believe Angel's "redemption" will heavily involve a combination him rejecting his vices AND breaking away from Valentino. This is also gonna involve his growing feelings for Husk (which they have pretty much all but hinted at IS going to happen) The way I see it, Angel will start turning away from his vices to pursue genuine feelings for Husk (trading debauchery for real love). But we all know Valentino will be FURIOUS and won't hesitate to destroy everything and everyone Angel holds dear to break him for daring to oppose him. This could also involve drama with Angel's family who we'll definitely be seeing soon. I think it'll all culminate in Angel performing the ultimate sacrifice against Val (possibly by poison if the song was actually foreshadowing) to save everyone he loves, his birth family, his hotel family, and his true love Husk which will unlock his redemption

@@NightoftheLivingcookies10 I mean I think it's safe to assume his soul contract would have to be broken regardless for him to get to Heaven. But at the same time Val hasn't really been shown to be smart enough to use a subtle way of killing like that. He's... well to put it bluntly he's an egotistical ass who doesn't think his actions through when pissed off. This IS the same Valentino who thought it'd be a smart idea to just walk into the hotel, which was under Alastor's protection, and shoot everyone just because Angel chose to not live at the studio anymore and would have done exactly that if Vox hadn't talked him down. As for Angel's dad and brother, yeah I'll admit they'll have to show up at some point for Angel to work through that bit. Not sure if he's actually got feelings for Husk though, it seems more like the two act like best buds more than anything. Angel is by default flirty, so we can't really take how he acts with Husk in general too seriously.

I personally think that whatever entity is God in the Hella-verse used to have a rather black and white view on behavior and yadi yadi yada, but when it saw Charlie Morningstar, the daughter of Lucifer, AKA the very last person God would suspect would argue for redemption, shows that the black and white viewpoint it had before is doing a lot more harm than good, God did some self-reflection and realized that the system it made is beyond broken and decides to change it. So, in a half-joking manner of putting it, the Hella-verse God is pulling a Khosrau Anushirawan right now, and hopefully it will stick.

This is simply the first time the angels have seen the sinner's face before going to heaven. So there's a chance this *has* happened prior, but the angels just wouldn't be aware since they don't know who the sinners were. Just my own thought. :) Edit: Even if I'm correct, Charlie is def making a change. Rules are meant to change over time. Interesting theory.

They also seem to be absent in the current setting as none of them where present during Charlie's hearing. Maybe one of them is responsible for bringing Sir Pentious to Heaven or at lest placing him in front of Sera and Emily as that seemed to be an intentional move by someone.

I like the idea that the rules of Heaven have never really changed, but their limits have yet to be fully explored. Even angels don’t know something until they do. It takes a lot of time and testing to gain knowledge. Even they learn as they go. I mean, if they knew everything from the start, they would have made no mistakes.

It's also possible that any other sinner that died defending people was, unlike sir Pentious who was disintegrated by adams light, killed by angelic steal, which can perma-kill winners and sinners alike. So sir Pentious could have been the first to sacrifice themselves in a way that would cause a total re-manifestation during a heroic act without angelic steel being used that would end him permanently

Sir Pen did do some good things before Adam wiped him, but didn't he still do other messed up things while inside of hell? He bought angelic weapons and took place in territorial combat, so he totally had to have killed a few sinners. He might've even owned souls or done a lot of other terrible things. There had to be other more innocent sinners who maybe tried to become better, but Sir Pen being the FIRST EVER in hell history? I know Hazbin has lots of plot holes, but that's still hard to believe.

This is a very evidence-less loose theory, but what if Sera had something to do with the redemption of Sir Precious, and her face at the end of Season 1, while being horrified at the centuries of extermination, there was also a little bit of "oh my goodness it actually worked" [in the sense that if she somehow knew of and helped sir pentious, she'd tried to redeem him as well and is suprised to see him appear with them]

I wonder if another factor to Sir Pentious getting redeemed is due to the fact he likely didn’t have any regrets when he died in Hell. The thing is that, by Sera's own admission, she doesn't even know what the rules are -- what precisely it is that decides whether or not someone goes to Heaven or Hell. All she knows is that there IS a factor. So personally, I think her stance is more of the "hands off" variety. She doesn't know what the criteria is, but she knows there is one, and whoever is in charge of it seems to have done a good job so far, ergo she is very reluctant to say or do anything to possibly rule against it. But whatever determines it is certainly a CONSCIOUS force, enough that it made sure Sir Pentious didn't just go to Heaven, he completely bypassed the Pearly Gates and rose right in front of Sera and Emily in their dining room. Personally, if there is any one thing in the world I believe I can have faith in, it's continuity: That everything that ever was and ever will be has always existed and will continue to exist in one form or another. So I don't believe for one minute that all of the millions of souls that have been purged after countless exterminations are gone forever. At best, everything that made them what they were has been dispersed and will never again be together in that exact same state. But you know what? It wouldn't surprise me if some of those purged sinners actually DID reform in Heaven. But for one reason or another (maybe they didn't remember Hell, or maybe they just kept quiet about having previously been in Hell), they were indistinguishable from those who went from Earth to Heaven directly and just passed through the Gates like anyone else. It was only Sir Pentious who passed COMPLETELY into Heaven. And it's my interpretation that the higher power did this to make it clear to Sera that, while she is correct to not decide for herself if someone is or is not redeemed, she should not deny the possibility of redemption. I have a feeling, going forward, that whatever we do see of Sera and Emily going forward will revolve around this. Effectively, both Sera and Emily are/were wrong. Sera was wrong to allow the exterminations to continue, and Emily, I suspect, will one day regret bringing a sinner to Heaven who was not truly redeemed. I can picture a story arc where Emily tries to bring Angel Dust to Heaven and he pisses off everyone with his drug use and lewdness, after which they realize, not only that someone can be good while still not being good enough, but that some people are actually BETTER OFF in Hell. Both because Hell brings out the best in people like Angel Dust, and because people like Angel Dust make Hell a better place.

Nah, I think it's simpler than that. It's implied in the overlord meeting that most of the sinners in hell are in some sort of contract with the overlords. If you're stuck in a contract, you can't leave even if you redeem yourself, ruling out the citizen sinners. And if you own someone, you can't be redeemed, ruling out the overlords. Sir pentious owns no one (as far as we see on screen, I assume he created or adopted the egg bois) because he was a wannabe overlord and no one wanted to own him, so he was in a rare position. It also explains why Angel has improved so much and yet can't go to heaven. It's also interesting that the most paranoid character gets redeemed after doing a 180 with the fear of being killed by someone else.

the rules, as written, have never changed. The rules were just interpreted differently. An example of how this can be, is emphasis. "That old man can't understand you very well." in this context, depending on where you put the emphasis in the sentence, the meaning of it greatly changes. Therefore, people have been reading the rules differently, akin to how the bible is read, thus changing the meaning of what the words actually are.

I don't think anything changes, Sera just doesn't know the rules because she's never checked. Or, rather, she's knows something we don't which incorrectly makes her assume otherwise. Your example with sinners protecting eachother during cullings could be explained by selfish intent. Protecting them because it's what they want, not to be selfless.

I don't think those extra eyes are another being watching through them. Emily had extra eyes too, but they only opened to her own realization that angels were killing demons. I think those eyes are just parts of the angels showing their true forms whenever their emotions start to grow beyond control. They only ever seem to open when the seraphim get upset after all. And we saw earlier in the episode that Emily and Sera have different forms than what they went to court in. I think the 'divine being' who passes judgement on the souls is watching from somewhere else and in another method. After all, there were no angels with those eyes in hell when Pentious was killed. Unless you're going to tell me those eyes on Lucifer's coat were also linked to this being passing judgement and Lucifer was secretly watching as Adam endangered his daughter's life when Pentious was killed

One of the current tropes for going to heaven is "The Sacrifice". Someone who sacrifices greatly to help someone for no self serving reason, usually involving their life ending while the person they protect lives. This is a common story in most religious books. The God in this series never told the angels what the qualifications for going to heaven are, as that would defeat the purpose of earning their way with how often their servants go down to earth. In my personal views, hell, least in the first ring where lucifer lives, is basically a "2nd chance". Those who do not meet the initial criteria, those that lucifer was trying to prove his point. The first ring residence if not native born, can not go to the other circles. They still have their memories and personality in this circle. If they still do not redeem themselves here, then either they are reborn as a native in one of the other circles with no memory, or is reborn on earth. Being killed by angelic weapons may either trigger the above judgement or actually kills the soul preventing rebirth.

My ideas on jow it all worked was that when a human dies, their soul is evaluated by a dorce we don't know about yet to determine if they go to heaven or hell. They are given a new "body" but this is merely to house the soul while in the afertlife. If this body is destroyed, the soul is sent back into the evaluation cycle since it is now free. This evaluation cycle, while details aren't known, have twl main considerations: merit and ties. Ties wouls be if the soul was tied to one aide or the other (soul-dealing so Angel Dust or Husk or even most Sinners wouldn't be able to get out of hell simce millions of souls are owned by Overlords. But merit is cumulative on the soul. Since not a lot of Sinners try to redeem, it doesn't often balance out anything that got them to Hell in the first place, but even then, the ties keep them there. So by one or the other (or both) any time a Sinner dies, they don't move up. But even if they do qualify, their body still needs to die to free the soul. Sir Pentious is the first to hit all three of these requirements.

Personally i'm not sure that there even is a higher power over the angels [unless Vivzy has stated as such externally.] I'm thinking it could be a form of self-actualisation like in the series Lucifer. In this case, either you just outright go to where you think you deserve to go [and his self-sacrifice changed his inner feelings], OR the reason that no-one ever made it up was that no-one had every thought about it and so when Adam came up with that stupid list and it was read out, the collective agreement and belief of the heavenly host, made it true [but as the collective knowledge is that you are judged in death, this is why Angeldust didn't just get yeeted into heaven while they watched him fulfil the criteria.]
