As a fan since her first movie, Requiem, I can say she gave a lot of great performances. Unfortunately, it might be difficult for non-German speakers to access all her good German movies with subtitles. But it's worth the effort to look for them. At least Toni Erdmann should be easy to get.

People are underselling how damn great this film is. I was absolutely blown away.

It's way overrated. Pretty flat and one-note the whole way through. Actors were good, but that couldn't save it from being a monotonous script.

Sandra was absolutely phenomenal in the movie, even in such a packed race for best actress she stood out. She was also fantastic in The Zone of Interest, I hope she gets more love from "mainstream" Hollywood because that level of talent deserves recognition

Hollywood doesn't matter, and she's in much better films thanks to not getting caught up on that system.

Awesome interview! I firmly stand with her innocence. It was established that Daniel’s father homeschooled him, and because of that they had a very close relationship that Sandra didn’t. I think if he truly thought Sandra killed him, he would have revealed that because he wasn’t as close to her as Dad.

Also she maintained innocence with her lawyer who she didn’t need to with and she seems rational enough to not falsely convince herself of innocence.

Sandra Hüller is THE REAL BEST ACTRESS this season 2024 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Her playing in "Anatomy of a Fall" and "The Zone of Interest" we're simply SUBLIME 😮💪🏻 Stone or Gladstone are favorites for the Oscars only because they're "americans", and nothing more.

there's good acting and then there's Oscars acting. Oscars acting seems to be bombastic and over dramatized and a little self serious; people like Oscar Isaac are incredibly talented but have never been nominated because subtle performances go unrecognized :( and yes, Sandra was tremendous in this film. simply amazing.

I think that she did do it and that maybe daniel got manipulated into lying for her. I feel like the death is still so mysterious. Like why would he do it so close to home and in that brutal fashion and also he couldn't have known for sure if that blow could have killed him.

If she pushed him from the window then that means she was pretending to be afraid of heights while in the attic with the lawyer. I didn't want to think he would kill himself at home but then the boy did say that the dog may have eaten the vomit so it sound like he tried to kill himself with them around. Well that's if it wasn't her who tired to poison him and she got the dog to eat the evidence. Currently I'm thinking it was an accident or at least I don't think she killed him from the floor which the prosecutors stated if she did do the deed, and if it was suicide then he wanted her to be ruined by the fallout.

@@lesryglrhfohser ***Spoiler*** I took the son's speech to be made up. He did it to save his mother, he already lost his father. And when she finally made it home he tells his mom "I was afraid you were going to come home" then there is a long pause between them. I took it as he knew the truth. I don't think it was meditated. I think it was an accident. The audio of their argument and struggle (we really don't know how that struggle turned out. I don't trust Sandra, she was proven to lie) is evident that they were already having a domestic abuse partnership. I'm on the side of there was an accidentally struggle that lead to his death. I have a hard time believing the husband would leave his son - he made it very clear he loved his son.

I thought the same about the son's speech, however, I don't think she did it. She didn't really have a motive, did she? HE resented her. HE was bitter about her success. HE felt trapped.

Spoiler……. The dog was playing fetch with someone in the first scene and during the initial investigation they zoomed in on the dog. My guess is he slipped on the ball and fell out of the window. It would make sense in the context of the story. The child has to make a choice whether to believe his mom killed his dad or his dad committed suicide..but in reality, it was just an accident.
