You know as much as i think it is a good idea to recommend people start a short project before a long one i think it never happens. Most people are gonna work on their long peoject regardless so I think its not worth convincing them otherwise. Let them to work on whatever project they want and then when they realize their limits and the scope is too large they can take that knowledge and make something more manageable. Then after that they can go back to their large project later. Its not the most efficient advice but i think most people need to learn the hard way haha
