Did PENTAGON JR do the J.O.B in TNA?

Комедия

A bit of a different type of video for normal from me today for ring of the hawk season three. I wasn’t expecting to be doing this…what am I talking about I had over a year to prepare for this one: it’s pentagon jr and his time in tna in 2018/2019. He also wrestled a lot with his lucha brother fenix. But there was a singles run at the begging of the matches. Knowing basically nothing about pentagon jr I was expecting a try mysterio type luchadore…boy I was wrong!

I mean, he's not being presented as the singles star he's capable of being, but considering he's a two time champ I would not consider them dropping the ball on him. Aew just has a different need for him. Would I make him a singles star? 100%. but being a tag champ is better than nothing

I’m not an AEW fan but they have a bigger Tv deal than any of the other companies. His English promos are subpar. TNA is a fool for ever putting a main title on a non English speaker. When you’re on Tv you need good promos from your main guys. AEW also has WAY more stars than any of those companies. They put the tag and trios title on him. What more should he get?

    - Pentagon Jr is the son of Pentagon, a luchador who had a great feud with the AAA legend Octagon, 30 something years ago, where he lost his mask and the matial arts gimmick to Octagon. (feuds in mexico are seldom with people with the same gimmick and end with a lucha de apuesta, mask v. mask or mask v.hair). - Hence pentagon inherited the gimmick that he throws a lot of kicks and I think that he incorporates a bit of La Parka with it, through the ring gear and the mannerism. In Mexico he is super over because he is Vampiro's pupil. - If look closer you will realize that his moveset is the same as Kevin Owens

Actually in Lucha culture if you’re taking up the mantle of your father you’d be called “El Hijo del [insert Luchador’s name]” (like El Hijo del Fantasma who was shown in this video) but if you’re not their son then you’d usually get a Roman numeral or a “Jr,” at the end of your name (the latter would of course be nullified if you have your father’s name and you both wrested under your real names)

Marky D failed to acknowledge the whole situation that led to Penta winning the championship. Alberto El Patron no showed the main event on the AAA show against Aries. They then did Aries vs Penta vs Fenix with Aries retaining. They then rushed to do a rematch for Impact in which they booked a shock finish with Penta winning. Penta had a fantastic run in Lucha Underground, and dude has some strenght for his size and some fantastic moves. But as I saw in AEW he falls into the 'big flashy moves are what will get me over' bit. His Tag Matches in AEW as part of the Lucha Bro's are pretty infamous for them just never bothering to follow the rules of a match directly in front of the ref, so any kind of match psychology was out the window, more-so than most AEW matches.

I've tried to enjoy their matches when i first saw them 3 years ago , but like they are entertaining if you have short attention span, and just want to see a spot fest , not to say that these matches don't have a spot in wrestling just as an opener ir something

Penta’s work in Lucha Underground, MLW and AAA was amazing. His run in TNA was pretty good in my opinion. The problem with the TNA run is Penta was outshined by Fenix, like you mentioned. Penta is in my top 5 of Luchador wrestlers.

That first match summed up both Penta and Fenix for me. The first time you see them you can't help but be impressed by their athleticism and fluidity, they're very, very good at what they do. However, once you've seen a few matches you realise that you saw everything they could do the first time around. What follows is the same match filled with the same no-selling consequence free high spots, 25 superkicks and matches that go on forever. If you dig choreography and cooperation leading to incredibly athletic high spots then they're for you. If you want any subtlety, ring psychology, story-telling or god forbid believable wrestling then they're probably not. I got bored of them very quickly in AEW. If the matches were shorter it'd cover a lot of the problems as the main issue is all those devastating moves that lead nowhere or get no sold.

One of the brothers should have pinned the other without resistance after working on Aries and agreed a rematch between only the brothers after stealing the title for one of them. You could then have one of them cheat to retain and feud with each other. Im amazed he won the title - was expecting Aries to retain!

Penta was mostly signed to be a tag team guy with his brother in AAA and AEW. He's been doing quite well. He's definitely a mainstay and has even beaten the Bucks with Fenix.
