Facts are facts! Anyone born in late 80's and the early 90's kids know this is the truth! The first time i heard it i didnt really feel it cuz i realised it was a chip of the old block (They took an entire sentence) until i heard it severally on WhatsApp status and liked it a bit. Its a big hit now but the original defe defe was also a hit then! There was no social media then to record the numbers. I'm surprised Team Eternity didn't get approval from the old Defe Defe group. Immediately i heard TEG's Defe Defe i remembered the old one and actually went back to watch that video and added it to my Spotify playlist. I'm not a legal person but when you compare cases of similar nature you can say that Kwame Mickey is very likely to win this case in court. James Brown and Marvin Gaye's family win such cases all the time. It's not about jealousy or pull him down, it's about doing what is right. I think the most recent was against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams. The beauty of the new Defe Defe is that it reimnds you of the old. Two different eras and two hit songs. One with aid of social media, the other with cassettes and CDs. The gospel is preached. The lawsuit would be counterproductive because it only points to a monetary motive and not a genuine attempt of sharing the gospel. Oh I loved the old Defe Defe. It was definitely a hit in its day and still is whenever it is lifted anywhere in churches in Ghana. It’s such a vibe! I had to warm up to the new Defe Defe. So I definitely lean towards the old one. However, I don’t think this is a real case. Did they pick a complete line from the old one? Is there a copyright for the word Defe Defe? Isn’t it a Twi word? By the definition of what Kwadwo Sheldon read, it is clear that this is not sampling or interpolation. Sampling has to do with inserting a portion of the original song in a new song. Interpolation is recreating a new work based on the melody of the existing work. The only similarities are the lyrics. And lyrics are words that can be taken out of a song and the melody remains the same. Someone could rap defe defe and it can't be considered interpolation because it will not follow the original melody. However, this lyric was copied word for word but I don't think anyone owns words. So this is probably a loophole that team eternity could take advantage of.

Fair Use Defense The proposed rule states that any mention of songs lyrics "must represent only up to 10 percent of a copyrighted musical composition" due to fair use. I don't think Team Eternity's lyrics from the original make up even 5%, so even on fair use. They are in the clear.

Team Eternity sang same lyrics 2 X back to Back & emphasized on it towards the end. Research more about interpolation/sampling cases. Stonebwoy’s osobokyer3 was only one line yet he did the needful. Just accept it that the man deserves his credits, royalties & what so ever it is his intellectual property.
