Did Ned Fulmer's Body Language Give Any Early Warning Signs?

Footage of Ned Fulmer from the Try Guys and co-worker/employee Alex Herring having physically intimate interactions has been leaked. With Fulmer's brand being built around how much he loves his wife, Ariel Fulmer, the footage shocked many fans. This video is my analysis of Ned during two earlier videos in which he was connected to a polygraph machine and asked uncomfortable questions to see if there were any warning signs earlier on of what was to come.

I feel he words it that way because of the boss subordinate relationship. Even if it is consensual, there is power at play. At the end of the day, even if he didnt actively abuse the power of being her boss, it was still an inappropriate relationship without taking the cheating into consideration. My personal opinion is him saying consensual is him saying "I was not holding my position of power over her for a relationship"

It’s like he’s trying to reframe it as if people were accusing him of something else first, and actually it’s “better”. No one accused him of s/a, but he knows if he references it he can give himself a small boost of sympathy, or at least pretend to. It is very icky. Or even a “thou protest too much” way, but I do lean to Alex being aware and participating and not pushed into it with our current information.

However we have no idea when Ned first started cheating, if it was with other people, how often, and if he ever reflected on possible past actions and considered those cheating. Was the outing with Alex the only subconscious moment he felt he had to hide? Most people never knew or even grasped Ned could cheat.

Some time ago I started noticing a “vibe shift” with Ned, and for the last year or two I kept finding myself thinking “something’s going on with Ned.” I noticed bouts of excessive frustration/emotional responses that suggested to me some sort of long-term stress, ie “frayed nerves”, times where he seemed stressed, stiff, or uncomfortable when everyone else seemed relaxed, and MANY instances of odd tonal shifts and microexpressions when talking to/about Ariel that kind of gave the impression of hesitance or forced enthusiasm. I would like for Observe to go back to older Try Guys videos that reference Ned's "frat boy" past. It was one of their first videos on their new channel where Zach makes the comment that Ned used to be "slutting it up" before he got married, and Ned is visibly uncomfortable. It is one of the Try Guys Game Time videos. Ned also created a video that was played at his Yale graduation ceremony where he was playing a "character" of a frat boy. Unfortunately, in hindsight, it is becoming clear that he really never fully moved on from that, and maybe after a few years of marriage and kids he began to miss it and go back to that.

What I find more interesting is the body language of Keith, Zach and Eugene. Each one seems to show some proprietary knowledge about Ned as a co-worker, a supervisor and the husband of Ariel. Not unusual due to their long-time relationship. However my guess is that none of the 3 would allow themselves to actually know about Ned's life. Fairly (or unfairly) The Try Guys monetized their personal lives, their families and their co-workers. That business model may no longer be as marketable. While I hope to hear from Keith, Zach and Eugene on their channel, I think that Ned needs to take an extended break from social media and not jump onto any apology tour as certain individuals have done in the past. I hope Ariel and her children can move on to more stability with family members and close friends.

When I first heard of Ned's cheating scandal. I remembered when one of the lie detector questions made Ned reveal some of his marriage may be for appearance. I also recall an episode where some sort of professional they all went to see identified Ned as having 'narcissistic tendencies'. I frequently watch the Try Guys too and while disappointed with Ned, I'm glad he's now out and his absence means little to me as a fan since I liked him least even though I wasn't sure why. On one hand I guess I felt he brought the least to the Try Guy table in terms of identity and mentioning things he deals with and things important to him that needs a louder voice or any attention at all. Zach and Eugene do this a lot. I've realized I disliked Ned, but I never understood why. Not saying I suspected he would be a cheater only that there was something about Ned that seemed off to me compared to the others and I wasn't sure if it was simply him being a bit fake or not. They are a big youtube group, so it seems some fakeness is inevitable.

honestly I feel like Ned thinking their relationship is good and showing care for ariel doesn’t really give us much info about his cheating - I think he WAS happy in his marriage he definitely did care about her and I think he just convinced himself along with everyone else that it was a good relationship - I don’t think he didn’t want to be with Ariel and that’s why he would cheat I think he just also wanted to be with Alex or else he probably would’ve just broken up with Ariel - pretty shitty but a lot of cheaters view their relationships as good and like them so that’s why they cheat so they can have other people but don’t have to give up the relationship

Mmmm so I’m married. Marriage is a whole other level that I didn’t even grasp until we got married. We didn’t think it would change anything and in fact hadn’t actually planned on getting married because “it’s just a piece of paper.” There’s so many other factors that start affecting your relationship that you don’t think about. My husband and I have both cheated on each other in the past, but one thing that never ever was under question was our love and our commitment to each other for life. However, we got married very young and hadn’t worked through our childhood trauma. A lot of my trauma was sex-centered and as a teen and young adult before him I dealt with trauma via sex. He had just been in a relationship where she cheated on him when he was at basic training for the military and he had left because her letters begging him to come home, on top of his childhood stuff. He gave up a dream he had had his whole life for her. Now we are extremely happy, we’ve worked through our shit, and we have forgiven each other. Our trust is stronger than ever. It took time and healing from things we should have addressed before getting married to get here. With that said, the hardest part in our relationship was during the pandemic. It force us to face our inner demons and it almost destroyed us. He lost his job so I had to support us both and the financial stress that comes with marriage is wayyy worse than that without that “contract.” Just because people cheat, doesn’t mean they don’t love and cherish their partner. More than likely, there is shit they need to work through. It’s not an excuse, but that doesn’t mean it can’t explain the behavior. In Neds case, i don’t think this applies though. Mainly because of the report from other women of him trying to flirt and get with them. I think he may be unhappy, but I don’t think he necessarily wants commitment at all, even with Alex. If he did, now that he’s lost everything, him and his wife wouldn’t be trying to work through things. We will see with time though.

It makes me so sad that Ned would betray Ariel like this. I think Ariel was pregnant with their 2nd child during the 2nd interview, so that could've been the deception Ned revealed at the beginning of part 2 (many people don't disclose they're expecting a baby until 3 months into a pregnancy in case of they have a miscarriage). I think the biggest problem with Ned's behavior is his affair was with his employee. The power dynamic between he and Alexandria is too wide. Even if their relationship ended up being consensual (according to Ned at least) Alexandria didn't have a resource like an HR department to go to if Ned initially made her feel uncomfortable. That's the part of this situation I think is the worst. Infidelity can be overcome in some relationships, but Ned's behavior is different. Try Guys were right to sever ties with him. There's been a few articles talking about "wife guys" and the incredibly low bar society sets for straight men being good partners to their significant others. Everyone seemed to praise Ned for doing the bare minimum for a husband. It looks like some of that behavior may have been a little disingenuous in hindsight.

What’s interesting is that in both positions we’re not as put in a position where he literally cannot lie without it being them the only questions they offer up to him or about his wife. They had to know. Granted that was his brand but the other guys were not asked about their partners near as much.

I can't believe he thinks he's the most handsome. That's wild. Even after they had a video of them being told scientifically that Eugene is the most handsome. He's a total narcissist.

Ok so, I know you'll probably get to it soon, but I just watched the video thee Try Guys released about the situation, and YOU HAVE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THAT. I have no knowledge in the subject but having watched your videos for a while now, I feel like there's A LOT to unpack there.

So.. two things. 1) I think the questions were too complex to be answered with simple yes or no, some questions required explanations or clarification in order to answer them truthfully. 2) sometimes people actually believe in their own lies. How would it show in the polygraph in this situation?

love the video content but we should maybe not participate in appropriative hair styles… just my two cents. if piper has caucasian hair, this is not protective-it’s damaging; to both your hair and neck. it’s 2022 we know it’s racially insensitive to wear locs as a white person, and knowing it’s racially insensitive makes me feel yucky to watch the creator. full transparency.

Hello! I love this channel so much, but there was one part here where I wanted to see what you were talking about with Eugene's expression but you had placed the window for your camera up in the top left, which unfortunately was covering up a lot. Had the window been down in the bottom right it would have been over the desk. I am grateful that you showed a close up right after mentioning it! Another great analysis and I really hope you do more like this. I wish you could interview Ned!

I genuinely hate that he framed this as a "consensual workplace relationship" and the social discussions that have been spun from this framing. Now people keep talking about this as 'just cheating', 'cheating with a coworker', and 'they really fired him for cheating on his wife?!'. No - just stop with that BS, already. How have we come so far in history and social awareness on this topic... While evolving so little in social commentary department? It's not just cheating with another coworker/employee... It was *_HIS employee and subordinate. He was her boss._* I think that's an incredibly vital piece of information for people to stress when discussing this situation. There are massive differences between just having an affair with 'another employee' - and an affair with your subordinate who you have tremendous reign and control over on a daily basis, as their boss. That can't be understated enough. No matter what the situation or who the person is, it's *entirely* inappropriate, unacceptable, unprofessional, and dangerous for any company/job to not cut ties for situations like this. Even if the other party says the situation was 100% consensual on their end (that's still iffy, legally). We've set this standard for a reason - it's just way too easy for the nuances of coercion and a nonconsensual situation to be ignored, justified, excused, denied and twisted around on to the subordinate. If we allow special exceptions because we want to believe that everything was on the up and up on the superior's part... Then we end up screwing over actual victims in the long run.

No to mention he was HR! This relationship was going on for a year, and he was making multiple PUBLIC OUTINGS with her! Not to mention his family married guy branding, and general branding of the try guys. With their new network show he basically jeopardized all of them!
