the award for Best anything is always going to be subjective. it is not a final match it is just an award based on opinions. I think people are either bored of just hate Messi.

In 2012 Lecce was leading AC Milan 3-0 at home at half-time and Milan won 4-3 after Kevin Prince Boateng show. So it did happen before.

It's an award where they vote for your friends,teammates or your favourite player.Also you need to be a big club to win it for example as soon as Ronaldo left Real Madrid ,they gave it to Modric(pretty sure Ronaldo would have won it if he was still in Madrid). Also in the past 15 years,if someone has same goals+trophies as Ronaldo and Messi,then they would still not even been anywhere close on the votes against them.

If you’re complaining about Messi winning then take away the ballon d ors of Cannavaro in 2006, Paolo Rossi in 1982, Ronaldo in 2002, Lothar Matthaus in 1990. They all won it purely on their World Cup performance and victory.

Napoli Milan was one of the best games across Europe this season. Milan ended the half playing some of their best football in a long long time with Musah everywhere and Calabria defending Kvara well as usual. They were pinging the ball around so well Milan’s HT subs killed their momentum and let Napoli back in. On top of his goal Thought Raspadori was excellent drifting in and playing passes out wide and Lobotka is amazing in possession.

The ballon dOr went to the best player on the best team in the biggest competion within football. Remember Fenomeno won the world cup in 02 scoring like 15 goals the entire season (because of injuries) and 8 of those came in the world cup. Best player on the biggest stage in world football. Simple. You dont deserve the ballon dOr simply on stats alone.

I'm on the side of giving Rudi some slack here. ADL kept pushing the 4-3-3 and Rudi has said that Napoli can do more than a 4-3-3. We even saw Napoli breaking down toward the end of last season and needing something fresh. I don't always agree with his subs, especially Zerbin for Kvara? But to his credit Spalletti was infuriating with never giving the boys some rest, even up 4/5 goals. Rudi is trying to get something new out of Napoli and I feel like he's getting a lot of pressure from the top to not change things up. I'd like to see them lean into the 4-2-3-1 Raspa has shown to be effective at getting some of the other players through the back line with creative passes, and I love his attempts on goal from outside of the box. Those attempts from long range are what we've been missing. Especially when this press into the box for tap ins aren't working. When Cris & Messi used to win based on Goals & Trophies, they had great plays too, threatening in every match especially Messi even without scoring. Away without 4-5 starters, major fatigue after playing Thursday before and our head coach on the sideline. A point away from Inter would have been a good result given how good Inter is. Nothing to do with mentality, everything to do with managing how much points you can afford to gain or lose given the situation. This "pride" argument means nothing; if they played how Mike felt they should, they would have gotten battered like Milan and it would have been embarrassing. If Roma held that last ten minutes, you'd be saying Inter lost two points and Roma did well. Calcio is chess, you have to know your opponent and understand when a result means a tie vs a win. Either way, whatever rule you make for offside there will always be a ‘minuscule ruling’ at times. It’s always going to be difficult. For me, I’d change the rules to eliminate diving. Maybe 3mins off pitch any time player goes down to make sure they’re “ok to continue” which will hopefully lessen faking/diving as to not disadvantage your team

Guys it's not rocket science what's going on in Napoli, it's the coach. They were succesful with Spaletti's man management and play style, they were pressing high, attacking, playing high tempo, direct football, Rudi Garcia is a safety first coach, he doesn't ask players to press, he wants to sit, wait and also he believes in rotation which you can't do in Napoli where there are certain players who need to play at all times like Osimhen and Kvara. You can't sub them when you need a goal against Genoa etc. The Mentality is completely different, Napoli needs to be in free flowing offense, Italiano would've suited them much better, it's ADL's fault that he picked Rudi Garcia. I saw it even in 1st game, after they get 2 goal lead, Garcia asks team to play with 3rd gear to guarantee the score instead of going for more. You can't say to players like Kvara and Osimhen not to press, not to attack... Also losing Lozano in the wing and not getting a real winger there in place of him didn't go them goods, neither those mediocre additions other than Nathan who look lackluster like Cayuse. Napoli always excelled in playing attacking football, with exciting players like Hamsik, Insigne, Cavani , Higuain and like last year Osimhen & Kvara.. If it is computer made, why VAR takes 3 minutes? And why we do not see picture immediately? Also, if we speak about goal of offside rule, we must point out that idea is that player in offside do not make an unfair advantage. How is an advantage if u run (even sprint) with a face looking towards your own goal? So we have a rule that is there totally wrongly defined. Doubt the difficulty argentina endured to gdt to final was a gift. Every game was tough even against australia where they ended up asking for the ref to end the game. FRANCE waltzed around their group and the toughest one they faced was England who shit the bed with that missed PK. Man to man, France had a superior team, just the team chemstry conquered and even so, Argentina ended against the ropes and had to win in PK. It seems you did not waTch the gamea at all
