Of course he wanted the ring back, so he could pay half of her rent.

For someone with a background in PR, Lindsay really hasn't figured out how to make herself likeable.

These two got together because they were both lonely. They were not compatible. She is controlling and he wanted someone hot to love him.

Even though Lindsay said Carl "demanded" it back, you know she had every intention of keeping the ring had it not been for a NY state law stating you must give it back if there's no wedding.

In this situation I would keep it too. Say what you want about Lindsey but he did her dirty. Karl knows her very well even before they dated. He still decided to propose to her and went along with wedding planning down to flying family out. I highly doubt she changed that much from proposal to breakup. You can’t drag someone along like that and pull the rug from under them last minute.

@rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr631 Duhh... No one said he couldn't break up with her. In fact, I'm glad he did. I knew this relationship wasn't going to last and was hoping they figured that out before getting married. Carl just seems like he's going through a midlife crisis and doesn't know what to do next in his life. He probably thought getting married would make him feel like his life was progressing as it should in some way. He knew Lindsay already loved him and would say yes. I dont actually think he ever thought she was the "one" for him. Regardless, Lindsay is not saying that he was wrong because he broke up with her. It's the way he did it that was dirty. Im not saying Lindsay is perfect. I think she's overbearing and probably very difficult to be with. I just think if you love someone, you would try to inflict the least amount of harm on them that you possibly can even if its a breakup. Planning your break-up conversation/scene with the producers first and then holding off on doing it because you're waiting for the camera crew to get there to get her blindsided reaction is gross.

@@athena4519 it's very apparent that this engagement was all for show or THE SHOW! I think people on these shows get swept up in the media spotlight and don't necessarily do things for love. So I don't even think Carl ever really loved Lindsay, especially by the humiliating way her broke up with her. Although she was insufferable accusing her sober fiance of being "on something" on numerous occasions. That's an awful to do to an ex-alcoholic/party boy which could lead them to relapse and shows Lindsay is self centered and lacks empathy. She wanted to keep the ring and I'm glad Carl and the state of New York made sure she didn't!

He does owe her his half of the rent. He signed the lease with her. Why should she have to leave? He could have stayed there too, but instead chose to leave.

She wants the law followed when it comes to him paying half the rent but not when it comes to her having to give him back the ring.

Carl paying 1/2 the rent is way less expensive than marrying and ultimately divorcing Lindsey.

Lol that her jeweler had it for “safe keeping”. I’m sure she was about to sell it or redesign it. And he pays half her rent while she is buying a house. She needs to turtle a little and stay off her interview press tour. She’s not doing any favors.

Stop with the lindsay hate! Carl IS a liar. Carl was telling us he was sober when he wasnt! Hes California sober. He would have kept the "sober" train going forever until he knew his secret would come out by lindsay and was forced to admit he smokes weed still. HES AS BAD AS HER. Sick of the hate towards lindsay. Id watch her over carl ANY DAY. And i didnt even like her until i saw how much hate she was getting even though hes a liar. Got fired constantly for showing up to work drunk/strung out. He has one good season and youre all like vultures towards her. Disgustingg people
