Ask 8k and go down to 7500 dude. 2005-2011 Toyotas going for more than that with similar mileage. 6k would go too quickly there’s definitely more profit to be made.

6k is too low

With the air injection pump system, there's a valve body that can go bad. Follow the hose out of the pump. Will go right to the valve body. The valves get stuck open or closed. If open the truck will go into limp mode. This is caused by water getting into the pump. Closed the truck will run fine. That's most likely the problem. Good Luck. Truck looks great.

I think $6,000 is a steal for that truck. If I wasn’t completely across the country I would buy it. Start at $6500

ive seen the car wizzard research a 1999- 2000 tacoma /prerunner and it went for like $17k so i agree 6k is a steal indeed

Same thing happened to me. The pump was good but the wiring pigtail from truck harness was messed up. Check it I bet that's it.

The air injection pumps had crappy foam filters from the factory, that disintegrate and get sucked into the engine. See if there's any bits of the old filter anywhere in the line. It should be coming on during startup and shutdown for like 10 seconds. Also maybe try the metal gasket that goes into the engine? I had issues with mine and it took a few days for the CEL to go away after I fixed it.

You should count the value of the paint you used even if you already had it on hand, same with any/all consumables. Helps to more correctly show income for taxes... Good work as always, I might would also pop for some grey/black seat covers to hide those fugly beiges ones though :)

Did you check the fuse for the secondary air pump?

Wiring for the secondary air. Just like the knock sensor, the wiring was the problem not the sensor. It’s not ALWAYS a hard part that fails. Also check for any fuses that it uses.

these beige seats are definitely not original to that truck. do not match that interior at all. no biggy just an observation. if you make $1800 on that truck you are effectively paying yourself 60$ an hour for less than weeks work. Not bad. BUT if you had got him down to $2000 at purchase you would have made yourself ~$77 an hour. Its not too late though..you can add that $500 onto the purchase price and still realize that profit. This is a great proof of concept. this is a viable business for yourself and great content for your channel.

Air injection is a different system and a different code from the typical gas cap issue (which is the Evap system).

I see these trucks all the time fully restored even with brand new frames or maybe just repainted. So I think you’ll make your money back.

Maybe it's the purge valve in the charcoal canister? Spitballing, but I'd check that next.

I bought few rebuit cars in my years and most of them they did not pay close detail to the small stuffs, like exposted metal on weld parts, screws, dings etc..

5:12 To pour any fluid from a heavy jug or awkward container always orient the pour spout towards the topside of the jug ( I know it's counter intuitive) then slowly rotate the jug either way (clockwise or counterclockwise) while keeping the spout aimed on target. This lets you keep the outflow under complete control and there will not be any glugging of the fluid stream. It's easier to use your dominant hand to control the jug position while your less dominant hand keeps the spout aimed in the right place. This reverse pouring method works for any fluids (laundry soaps or dishwasher stuff) you buy in larger jugs to refill a smaller daily use bottle.

That system helps the cat get up to temp faster on cold startups. Could be damaged wiring, specially if that is the corner where the damage was.

That air diverter that's under that hose you replaced is most likely the culprit.

6k is a decent price but if you have to add in your labor hours...? Just say 150 an hour x 30 hours that's 4500 on top of the 2500 to purchase and then the parts. I hope you get more than 6k but in any event, a great project!!

In California, with similar mileage is $13-14k clean title. If it does have a salvage title, at least $7k. You could also get a rebuilt title.

The secondary vacuum pump goes to the secondary valves, if the pump fails for a long time, the valves stays stock closed, remove the vacuum hoses that attach to the valves and put your finger inside the valve, if you feel that is closed then you need to replace or rebuilt the secondary valves.

Former mechanic and salesman... Successful... Just wanted a new challenge.... I'd start at $7500... You already know everyone is going to try and take $500 off the top, at least. You'll probably end up between $6500 and $7k

Spending a day to fully compound and polish the entire truck would make the paint blend together...shine the old clear and level the new peel.

Wet sand that orange peel and it would look perfect. Also a newerish steering wheel might increase your sale value, if you can wash the seats they look like they could use some extractor love.

As a BMW guy I am always chasing vacuum issues. Get a pack of cigarettes and blow smoke into the system. You’ll find the leak easy.

*Nevermind* I just realized that that parts not got shit to do with the vacuum system. Smh....my Dad always said that you can't learn anything if you're in output mode instead of input mode. Although, my advice about trying to decipher those codes still applies. You need to do a vacuum leak check using ............ Uhhhhh............ Shit.......... It's been sooooooo long since I've done it that I can't remember what kind of spray to use. I'm sure someone here knows exactly what I'm trying to say and I'm sure there's a thousand different tricks for finding a vacuum leak. Oh! It may have been a Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner that I used, but with the truck running you'll spray your vacuum lines and if you have a leak it'll pull that chemical into the line and make your engine stutter. And you have to spray very locally. Can't just go in and fog your engine bay like you'd fog a bug infested trailer and get any kinda useful feedback. Lol! The tricky thing with scanners and decoding the codes it spits out is sometimes you gotta read between the lines. For example; it gave you a code for that specific part, but in reality it may be something that effects that parts performance, i.e. a vacuum leak would most definitely effect its performance. It makes it somewhat easier to track down because you can single out just the vacuum lines that are feeding into that component. May be easier and faster to just replace all those vacuum lines instead of trying to track an individual line down and it could be such a small leak that it could easily be missed 2 or 3 times of looking. The Taco is looking good though!!! Love those Toyota pickups. They're awesome little off-road trucks too. Lightweight and nimble. Paint turned out spectacular as well! Good job man!

those vacuumpumps are alway in a circuit with another enginemanagement item. Check the wiringdiagram what other items are on the same fuse. The build itself was really cheap!! Change the tatty steeringwheel but i like this truck A LOT! It is that i live inthe netherlands, but i would pay 6k for it

Zak, great content and well done, i know you don’t like sanding and polishing but you really need to flat and polish the paint the orange peel is really bad

Buff the doors to try and enhance the gloss to match fenders, replace steering wheel as at the 12 position is highly worn, clean and extract the cloth seats, fix CEL, lube door locks, door hinges, check straps etc... and go up to $8000,

I bypassed the air injection on my tundra. They sell a little module that plugs into the map sensor. It’s ‘off-road use only’. But has held up for seven years now. My injection pump is under the intake on my v8. So I did it out of laziness. And because it throws me onto limo mode when it goes bad.

You'd get over 10k for that truck in Texas.

You need to setup a proper ventilation system for painting.

Toyota trucks are bullet proof. I think you’re right on the money at $6,000.

When you consider the flips. Especially starting out, keep the final retail price below 10k. Anyone with more than 10k to spend is going to buy a new car (new/used). Once you understand the Market you can do ultimate “you tuber” flip of a super car. This guys also pay cash. The problem lies in trying to flip 10k - 100k cars, people can’t finance salvage title cars and don’t have cash on hand for a car that’s likely to continue to deprecate

The clockspring in one of my cars melted when it blew. The connections were melted and part of the wiring too.

Do a smoke test on the vacuum, it’s a leak somewhere

I think everybody’s overpaying for vehicles. But this has value as a classic truck. And I see people spending 20 $30,000 on these trucks. I would’ve put off-road theme on it and asked for 12,000.

Not sure if it is in the budget, but replacing the stock seat covers with some newer grey or black ones would improve the interior a ton. It looks really really good, nice job But those tan seats don't do it justice..

Your SAI code is a circuit code. Does the pump run? It sounds like a mini jet engine when it runs. It also runs on shutdown on my 4runner. If it is a circuit code, I'd get a bidirectional tool, maybe one from Topdon, where you can command the pump to run. That might help figure out what is going on.

You might be able to get $6500 for it, but used vehicle prices are starting to trend downward and KBB (at least for my zip code) has this thing at $6K for top of the range, low end is around $4K, so if you're going to flip it better do so quickly, good luck with your sale!

you can manel reset the air bag light turn the key on to the air bag light on and just as it go's out turn the key off x3 so on the 4 th time it will show up and the turn off

Hopefully you can get 5500. Unfortunately I don't think it was worth it for your time for the price paid, but it was awesome to watch. With your skills 1500 - 2k max car would be fun to watch

I'd grab an emblem if you can find it at a pick n pull for like $5. Maybe you should try smoke testing the intake system? That might be a good first step before finding someone with a more capable scan tool. Those emission evaps codes are a real pain to track down and fix. I sold an old 2002 Lexus rx-300 for $3500 with 240k on it I only put a few hundred dollars in parts into it. I imagine you can get a lot more for a truck

If it is a 6lug, easily 9-10k in Washington state and the PNW. I paid 10500 for a 2000 4x4 Tacoma clean title 142000 miles only.

If I had $5500 cash I would take it. But unfortunately the government stole my money. Lol Looks great!!!

Honestly its only worth what people are willing to pay for it, id say post it on the high side and let people will and deal. Let them make an offer then counter offer, it will give you an idea of what people are willing to pay for it. The truck turned out great, also might wanna check the wiring around that pump, even grounding points, something might have been tweaked or have a pinched wire somewhere.

Did good and I think you should start at 6500 for it since they will talk you down to 6k. 2k profit for 30 hours. Not to bad. 66.00 an hour.

safety restore you ship them the stuff you need to be fixed and they ship them back used them 10 time no issue

Consider giving that new paint a wet sand and buff, the orange peel looks pretty bad. I will definitely increase the value of the vehicles that you are flipping

Look around for a bad ground, sand it down and reattach it.

here in aus you would easily get $17,000 au for it and that would be cheap

check the wiring to that pump likely a wire or ground is not wqrking perfect

Were you under the car with no jack stands under the air jack? If so, yikes, please protect yourself and always install jack stands!

Do you wetsand the orange peel on your clear-coat to an evenly smooth surface? I don't think I've ever seen that in any of your videos. Also, if you had a collision repair shop what you charge per hour? Or if you worked for a shop as an employee, what would your hourly rate be?

Yes I have, with this truck I did not because it matched the rest of the trucks clear coat already.
