Did I Find a Nearly Century-Old SUNKEN SHIP Using Google Earth?
Hidden in plain sight by all the vegetation growing on it.
Was scoping out an area on Google Earth and came across this strange object. I set out and see what we can find.

Really cool, what an adventure. They don't make ships like that anymore. It had to have been there forever. Good stuff 👍

Awesome! I grew up about ten minutes from where you filmed this and had zero idea about the history of that spot. Keep ‘em coming!

Boat island!!! Might be cool to go back in the fall when there's less vegetation. Great video as always. Loved the music in this too

I might return 🙂I want to see more of it, lol. Thank you so much, Jay!!!
Congrats on this find! Very fascinating! I would imagine that all that rotting wood is a perfect feeding ground for vegetation. Thanks for this!

That's probably why those plants are thriving, I didn't think of that! Thank you for watching!
Cool find! It's like a floating garden ( but not really floating lol). You are very brave for paddling around out there- the wake from some of those boats can be pretty exciting to paddle thru! Wonder if you could see more if you went back out in March/April when there's no vegetation yet? Thanks for a thought provoking explore😊

To be honest, I was pretty worried about the wake from the Tugboats, there were 2 of them, but just got the 1 on film because I was rushing to be sure I had the kayak stabilized by the time the wakes reached me. Thank you so much for watching!
Hey Kathy that is very interesting looks like it was a big ship I would think there would be some type of history of reason why it is at its Final resting spot

It was pretty big. Still trying to research it. Plugged away some more last night and no results. The sandbar in this portion is pretty high in this area, I'm leaning towards it was apart of the shipyard and they just left it there.
GREAT VIDEO! Good content. It shows you that our past isn't limited to what we can see above water. P,S, I'm glad you decided to wear your life vest. it erks me to see people neglect "WHAT IF". Carry -on.

Life vest is a must in this river. Too many people have drowned in this river. 😥 Thank you so much! 🙂
This is very similar to what they call the ships' graveyard in the mangrove swamps at Port Adelaide. The thick vegetation and the mud make boat or kayak the only way to explore it properly. From memory the hulls above the waterline there are all iron but there may be the submerged remains of some wooden vessels too. 🚢⛵

I couldn't see past the vegetation, though it would be a good early spring return before vegetation regrows. Just took over an hour to kayak out to it, lol. Googled that area, Garden Island looks amazing and beautiful!!! Thank you!

Yes, that's it. Just east of the power station. It's a popular place with photographers. I once tried to explore it on foot at low tide but got stuck in ankle-deep mud. 😕

@@lakefromeshippingcompany ohhh, mud that you can sink in is no fun at all. 😞
