    you will always pay a 40-50% mark up due to import fees and having the actual chain made. Let me give you an example you buy a 22 inch 3mm franco that weighs 29g from Jacoje. Chain has around $1,100 gold in it so you're paying what a 40% mark up. Now you buy a rope chain for $800 that weighs 6 grams with $219 of gold in it. Both 14kt. The rope chain is a 400% mark up. The franco from jacoje is a 40% mark up. Having a 40-50% mark up is completely normal and should be expected. Now when you go buy something from Macys or some other scam company they be selling chains at 400% mark up. Which is not okay.

    Idk about larger sized chains but most things are marked up about 33% and with a 10% off sale most are ~27% markup. Not that unreasonable plus you’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal

  • @Bman.jewelry
    @Bman.jewelry Жыл бұрын

    I paid 45 dollars a gram for a 14k 2mm 20” Franco chain that weighs 13 grams. I got it from Harlem bling when they were doing a fire sale on gold so I got it for only a 10 dollar mark up which is pretty crazy. I also got a diamond angel pendant from there for 945 dollars and weighs 10.2 grams. The markup on that piece was pretty hefty but for vvs diamond jewelry you can’t really complain cause that’s cheap still. Just check out all your options before you buy and make sure you read the description for online jewelry. I personally would never buy from a big brand just because they always have a 500 percent markup and it’s crazy. So basically to buy jewelry you have to search for who offers better Jewelry for the lowest price then do research on that company to make sure they aren’t shady and if the reviews look shady move away from that immediately. Just some tips for new comers in the industry hope I could help the next person from getting scammed stay safe y’all.

    Did you realize that the standard size measurement for D/C rope chains is before it the final cutting? So the chain was likely 2.5mm before being cut to shape, and afterwards it may have ended up being 2mm in average diameter. They may well have machined off more gold than necessary, but that's the only gripe you might have with them.

    Nah man lol they're going off grams. You pay for grams. He explained it in this video. Gold is $36 a gram I have a 14k gold diamond cut rope about the exact same size but it's solid and its 27 grams, this chain was 6 grams lmaoooo my chain is 27.4 grams which comes out to roughly a bit over $900 ...if I ever need some quick cash I can scrap that bitch...this poor guy... I have a 4mm this looks to be a 3 or 4mm... hed get less than $200..ouch Honestly I'd rather wear some really nice plated or vermeil before I spend money on a hallow chain...I'll never in my life on hallow and it's not just cause they're a rip off lol they break or dent mad easy

    it's processed and manufactured jewelry not bullion. ofc no one is giving spot price. 3x markup on spot at gold karat weight is generally an alright price for finished jewelry. anything like 4x or 5x and is a ripoff for people that don't know any better.

    @seankiesling2054 you are not wrong about the grams but you're not 100% right. he's a victim of price gouging and unsure how they calculated his price but you got pure, 22k, 18k, 14k, 10k prices and that's a factor on top of the gram weight

  • @seankiesling2054

    @seankiesling2054

    Жыл бұрын

    @@reggielee2523 i never said he wasn't a victim... he probably had no idea how the jewelry industry works. Im just saying obviously no jeweler is gonna sell you a piece at its exact value there HAS to be a "upcharge" to make money...they're a business. They also don't base prices off 24k lol They base it off it's gram weight..yes purity plays a role but prices are basically set by gram weight...and then charge extra for labor and to turn a profit. Been selling jewelry for 12 years this what I do. And they don't charge more JUST BECAUSE something is 18k vs 14k. They charge more because of the gold pieces weight, yes purity plays a role, but it's grams grams grams 10k is 42% gold, the rest are alloys and junk metals to make a piece (stay away from 10) 14k is 58% gold the rest, again, alloys 18k is 75% gold and so on....and gold weighs more. Thus causing more gram weight. You'll never see someone selling a 18k piece with substantially less gram weight than a 14k with more gram weight strictly because it's 18k. If that's what you were trying to convey, I cant tell. If you have two exact pieces and both are the same size and ones 14k and ones 18k... the 18k is obvious going to be more gold content making it heavier, they're not going to charge more JUST BECAUSE the purity is higher... if that makes sense or if that's what you were trying to say

    This is the main reason Braden, Raquel and the Jacoje brand are thriving. They wouldn’t sell that garbage and if they did, the mark up wouldn’t be that high because they’re more fair and honest people than the typical scummy jeweler. I live right outside the diamond district in nyc so I’ve met many jewelers who are extremely shady in my life. I got a 22k 5mm 22 inch rope chain and matching 22k 6mm 7.5 inch rope bracelet from Jacoje during the 10% off sale and I paid $65 per gram which was extremely fair. That price is unheard of in the diamond district. I’ll always buy my jewelry from Braden, he’s earned my business for life.
