Funny thing is Destiny gives Vaush the benefit of the doubt by saying Vaush is doing this for views. At least then you can assume he has a half functioning brain and knows what he's doing. I honestly think he's always had this side to him and it's just now coming out. He's losing any semblance of self awareness in his echo chamber.

Um...isn't a revolutionary that is honest about their revolutionary ideation kind of um well...setting themselves up to be caught or made a martyr? It just seems to be kind of obvious that if the continental army had been 'honest' at any point in its early phases, it would've been easily snuffed out for broadcasting it's intent. Same with the Russian revolution or the Cuban one. It's kind of funny; if you have kind of a slavish commitment to 'fairness', 'honesty', or have a disgust response toward 'hypocrisy' like that of an autistic child, you might just see all revolutionaries as unethical regardless of their cause. It's kind of funny how much progress you can stand in the way of by defending vague ideals

He has watered down his position so much. "people should arm themselves to defend themselves" isnt controversial. What is controversial was all the baggage vaush attached to that. Mainly that conservatives are just evil, and that a genocide is IMMINENT. Not only does he think it is imminent, he also has said that he wants to take shots at conservatives driving around with guns. Its extremely clear that what vaush wants is for leftists to take up arms, and should a conservative administration come to power, they are fully justified in taking pre-emptive action. Genocide is immanent, after all. He has painted a picture where there is 100% justification for murdering conservatives in the street. Whether or not its optically good is irrelevant, if we are talking about an immanent genocide. This is a weak ass veil. The world he painted is completely inaccurate. No genocide is immanent. A Fascist to vaush is every single conservative ideology. And i know its hard to believe, but conservatives arnt evil monsters who want nothing but misery to minorities. Its outrageous nonsense. But he has to paint an outrageous view of the world to justify his outrageous conclusion. If all of this was vaush simply coming up with hypothetical situations that might justify violence, it would be understandable. But he has said that this is ACTUALLY happening. and people RIGHT NOW should prepare. Conservatives ARE inherently evil for a genocide that WILL be coming. I mean the only laws he's ever referenced in either of these two debates is Rowe Vs Wade, he's yet to actually point at anything they've done to trans people. Which is a dangerous argument because I don't think anyone believes republicans are pro-trans but there's a huge divide between that and genocide. It shouldn't be hard to argue that the same will apply to laws that are being upheld, and that he as a voter would have the moral responsibility to actively do something about a current genocide taking place, and that violence against current lawmakers are justified. So, unless he names the trait, which he already demonstrated he can't, he will will have to accept that violence against almost all politician's is justified, aswell as against any person who would resist laws that abolish the current genocide going on.

I had watched quite a bit of his content & I always kind of had the feeling I didnt like how pompous he acted & picked up on the fact that he liked using more flowery language to sound smart rather than make arguments as simple as possible in order to get your point across to as many people as possible (the difference between Vaush & destiny basically) but I had no idea how out of his depth he truly was until I saw that debate But yeah at one point he was just scoffing at him every time he wanted to discuss something Vaush easnt familiar with. & I'll never forget that time he was like, "imagine being hedonistic when mark rekt him" or something with that sentiment & it was so childish Haha. But yeah his ego was definitely hurting there, he wanted to attack him to make him seem silly for taking philosophy seriously despite the front Vaush himself likes to put on.

Criticizing liberals for being uncomfortable with preemptive violence until it's too late. He can't have it both ways, if he is anti- preemptive violence he is on the same camp with liberals, if not he supports terrorism. I think he really believes that a Republican Dictatorship is likely in the future, but despite the posturing he is uncomfortable advocating for violence right now outside hypothetical scenarios. Hence he can't land to a consistent position.

By vaush’s logic political violence is acceptable at all times because you would be constantly operating off the unknown of what moment your political oppositions rhetoric will become actions. Without trust in the institutions and relegating the solutions to that system you have a complete erosion of society of differing opinions. you’re constantly operating under the assumption that any action towards in support of a view you disagree with could be one step removed from violence against you. Thus triggering the action of violence in defense of violence. It’s a political standoff in which everyone shoots because without institutions what trust would you have in your political opposition. Especially in todays political climate where the simple act of disagreeing with a viewpoint can be seen as aggression towards a group.

I mean that doesnt seem to be his logic. at some point between a healthy democracy, where volioence isn't acceptiable, and people being sent to the gas chambers, where most would say violence is acceptiable as the institutions have failed there is a transition period from unaccptiable to acceptiable. Where that line is isn't defined but most people accept it exists and people should be aware of it.

Whats this obsession with lefties claiming Liberalism is non-violent. Like do they think it just became the dominant political philosophy by sheer chance? The revolutions and wars that brought liberal democracy to prominence were pretty fucking violent. The Thirty Years war, which is arguably what created the conditions to allow for liberalism to emerge(the idea of nation states, soveriegnity/self determination, etc) killed as many as 8 million people ~10% of the continents population. Yeah the Thirty Years war didnt lead directly to liberalism but it was important in creating many of the concepts necessary for liberal democracy to arise, as you cant really create a democracy without the concept of a state.

If your goal is to win the argument instead of finding the truth, then I could see why you would care how good or bad the faith of the question is. This isn’t like when conservatives bring up “Little Timmy” to create the idea of a helpless victim to shift the conversation away from the original topic. This is a lefty, talking to another lefty, asking him to clarify why he’s supporting a non-lefty position on gun violence. Like what’s the bad faith here? What Vaush is actually doing is dodging having to commit to a position. I’m not against Vaush’s argument here. I’m a second amendment self defense supporter. I do believe that people, if they feel threatened, should defend themselves. And I know that Vaush is also-or I assume he is. The issue with the discussion was that Vaush knew that he actually had the more conservative position in this discussion-and he doesn’t want his audience to see him accept being “the conservative one” in ANY conversation. His position isn’t wrong. It isn’t crazy to say “conservatives have a point that self defense against a potentially tyrannical system is important.”, but he is afraid to say that out loud, and so has to start making claims about how things are in bad faith.

Well the problem is that Vaush is right but there is no one way to talk about it without being accused of advocating for violence or of dog whistling. Destiny is right, if you believe our institutions have failed, then violence is necessarily the answer but in order to stop that situation from coming about, you have to be able to talk about it but if you talk about it, you are dog whistling for violence. And destiny is dead wrong about politics and violence. The purpose of politics is to avoid violence but you have to use the threat of violence to enforce politics. And ALL state sanctioned violence IS politics. You can’t separate violence from politics but you can separate politics from violence. So saying that politics is violence is necessarily true.
