I'm fed up with not knowing what he did to be sent off. He was just doing his professional job as far as I can see. This camera angle doesn't show any body anything. Nothing to warrant any card at all. Geez what's going on in Valencia. The crowd is quite vicious towards him. I'm glad he left Spain. The Spanish government will miss all his millions in tax. What horrible people. This happened in front of the goal near the Ref. That defender MURILLO looked like he dived for no good reason. He was NOT hurt as he got up immediately. He was just indignant. Even the commentators couldn't fathom any card being given for NOTHING. Can't wait for him to beat Valencia AGAIN.

I think the issue here is "Off the ball" incident. In this case it always doesn't matter how hurt or hard you were on the person, it is why you did it? Many time you see players get sent because they shove opponent on the cheek, they rub head to head (headbutt), small push on the back... and so on. So the point on an off the ball incident please do not try to do anything, ref will interpret it as retaliation of some sort. I am not an expert just saying.

I'm a die hard Messi fan. But this red card is so upsetting. It's not fair at all. Maybe a yellow card or just a warning. But that didn't deserve a red card

I did. At 50 seconds into it, you can see his fingers clench around the defenders hair and he gave a sharp tug. It's even more obvious if you slow it down to .75 speed. And the defender didn't dive, he was tripped, and got off balanced and fell, it happens all the time. There's no foul in it at all, by Cristiano or the defender
