DICK EMERY "Happily Married" BBC 1973

Another helping from that comic genius of old, Dick Emery. Loved by millions Dick was a regular on BBC1 in the 1960's and 70's. In this sketch he is joined by June Whitfield, playing his' adoring' wife in a much loved extract from one of his shows. The Copyright in this video segment belongs to the BBC. © BBC 1973

This is my favourite Dick Emery sketch! I can’t believe I was only 13 when this was made but I remember it so well. June Whitfield was so lovely, I met her briefly in London in 1984 and she was so sweet. Both are sadly missed but left us so many great sketches and happy memories. 💜💜

There is actually another sketch of these two, in it, they take out a life insurance policy and "accidentally" try to knock each other off. I found it in one of the full episodes on youtube. It is amusing to watch these two at it again!

I remember David Jason saying in his auto-biography, he appeared with Dick Emery at the Pier Theatre, Bournemouth in the 1960s. Apparently, Dick quite openly fooled around with other women despite the fact he was married, which made the rest of the cast feel very uncomfortable when Dick's wife came to visit him.

It was a beautiful country England was in the 1970s I was living over there from 1977 untill 1979 and i went back there in 1982 it was still good then.and left there in Dec 1982 I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE COUNTRY SINCE LEAVING. England had its own brand of comedy its own brand of food and its own brand of beverages. How sad England has become now since Margret Thatcher left power that was when their downfall began When John Major took over the Muslim invasion began They got rid of shows like this they took over areas of London they call no go zones you cannot go there if you Are not Muslim you have to go to the police station and get a list of places you can go to and i believe the pubs are gone in the no-go zones (thanks to John Major) The English butcher shop is gone replaced with halal meat only the Muslims will eat. And gone are the theater They don't watch movies in Syria the go prey in a mosque there is no form of entertainment there Unless you consider going to church a form of entertainment white chapel is now a no go zone The last i heard Darby road in Southampton England Is all Muslim owned no whore houses there anymore England had lost its identity because of invasion Lost the pubs lost British beef lost alcohol In short England and become a European Iraq With no consideration for the Englishman! Back then the average Joe used to complain about Margret thatcher I wonder what they re saying since Now I'll bet they wish thatcher was still in power
