This was Cobra Commander at his best! It's too bad the Overlord was never introduced in the DiC TV series! Him vs. Cobra Commander would have been entertaining indeed!

Yes, but I still give kudos to TF:Animated, and especially TF:Prime, for trying. I hope they look them up for future Cobra Commander voicing.

Chris Latta Starscream and Cobra Commander, totally awesome characters, two of the best 1980s cartoon villains. I wish Chris was still alive...

I remember how overjoyed I was to see the evil cobra commander again.

Great to see a little love for the DIC toon, especially since the characters from this era were never animated anywhere else!

Crazy thing is….This cartoon was preparing us for what’s happing now. The BET machine which is Tesla’s Harp machine to use the weather as a weapon. I heard about Nanotechnology in this cartoon in the 80s as a child. Hella coincidence what’s happening here today in 2021 with Covid

You know what's funky our favorite cartoon shows such as GI Joe American International Heroes, Thundercats, He Man She Ra yea I said it Teenage Mutant Ninja/Hero Turtles all had messages revealing g what's going on now also even in the Comic Books such as the XMen Legacy Virus Storyline the Phalanx Covenant and Justice League the Amazo Virus Story let all this sink in

Yeah I bet that's one of the reasons Destro never tried to overthrow him ever again for the rest of the series and followed Cobra Commanders orders to the T since Cobra Commander was stronger than him and had complete loyalty of Cobra as well.

Look at the skin around his eyes. He turned completely human the instant he put on his helmet.

Honestly the creation of the new troopers for the toyline is really the only thing I remember from this special, that and the spy's realization that Cobra were the badguys. But that's pretty much it.

Copperhead just found a battle suit laying around in his hovercraft... Cobra Commander just gave a speech about how power his Python Patrol would be, Copperhead is honored to get the python treatment, but then CC tells the Crimson Guardsmen he's too valuable to waste on snakes...

They should have pythonized other Cobra vehicles and some captured GIJoe vehicles as well.

Cobra Commander wearing the Armor Fred VIII used to impersonate him in the comics is kind of ironic when you consider the fact that personaltywise Fred VIII was much more like the animated incarnation of Cobra Commander then the real comics version of Cobra Commander who was actually a strong, ruthless and competent leader unlike the animated version.

Well, don't forget, they had to dummy down some of those traits to make the character (and the franchise itself) more kid-friendly as a cartoon.

DIC GI Joe may have been on the stinky side but hey it was still something halfway decent to watch on USA Network cartoon Express after school so it fulfilled its role

The reason he had that is because Serpentor had Cobra Commander's uniforms turned into Halloween costumes

Green skin and blue eyes. Then when the helmet goes on, caucasian skin and brown eyes. And it was never again mentioned throughout the series that he's actually a snake-man. Bizarre.

Too bad they didn't keep Python Patrol in the series

Seeing those conquest fighters transform into cobra jets makes me wished the joes bring back those Skystriker jets to counter the new cobra fighters.

I don't know if it's a good or bad thing if Cobra Commander takes a keen interest in you.

I really hate the cobra commander's new battle armor, it's horrible. I remember the toy line of gijoe toys of the late 1980s and saw the figure and thought...wtf!! I rather prefer the classic cloth mask or the chrome silver mask and helmet with the modernized look. The late Chris Latta's legendary voice is always irreplaceable of the cartoon.

Cocaine laced with silly dust, after the introduction of Cobra BLAHHHH... crashed burned EXPLOSION!! Oh brother.

cobra commander put that costume on so fast lol, and then under the mask he looks human!!! wtf...lol

So from sampling the abilities of a snake, Cobra Commander used the Dragonfire fragment he has to create the Python Patrol by enhancing some jets and Cobra Soldiers.

Cobra Commander = Reptile from Mortal Kombat??????

Come to think about, Cobra Commander being a snake is the only reference to the 1987 movie whatsoever in this series. Cobra La is never brought up once in this series.

I like Python patrol idea. i like all python patrol figures what came out.

It was a follow up to GI JOE: THE MOVIE where Cobra Commander was revealed to have been a member of Cobra-La, where all the members of which were half-human half insect or something else creepy-crawley. For his many failures th Commander was turned into an "actual" snake. In the series this clip is from, Operation Dragonfire, he is returned to a humanoid form.

Wow CC sure gets dressed fast!

I thought the DiC version went off the comic and not the movie, so i also always wondered why they had CC as a snake. cause to the comic series the movie never happened. the CC for comic series is a crimson guardsmen (can't remember who), but The Baroness is the only one who knows this, everyone else thinks its CC whos currently in therapy from a coma. if my memory is right its been around 20yrs since I last saw or read the series.

The Marvel comics had a different continuity from the Sunbow/DIC Cartoon and the movie. Really, both served the purpose of promoting the toys. It's why they both differ cuz the creatives were allowed to whatever they wanted.

I vaguely recall several of his loyal Henchmen decided they wanted to return Cobra Commander to power and conspired to have him returned to Humanoid form. They were sick of Serpentor blaming them for everything.

Aren't those guards suppose all look like some guy named Fred? What they should have done is instead of having the commander turn back into human is have it appear as he is having delusions of being one? I would make more sense to give him some medications to reduce the delusion but not too much so he will still want to be a terrorist.

The Crimson Guardsmen took the nam Fred Rocca (i'm not 100% sure on the last name.) Plus they all had plastic surgery to look the same so they were easily replaced if they were killed. I wouldn't be surprised if they took the face and name of Cobra Commander. He was arrogant enough to do it.

This is SOOOOO dumb. I even thought that when I was a kid. It's just a way to remarket the same toys. What good can shooting a jet fighter with the essence of a python provide? If there was a giant snake flying through the sky it would probably show up on radar.

The storytelling is equally bad. DIC did a bad job, but Sunbow did a pretty good job screwing its OWN storyline up all by itself.

Cobra commander is interspecies rapist. What kind of things are you thinking cobra commander? This couldn explain why he doesn't have a girl friend on the show?

Zarana seemed to be his girlfriend in some of the episodes. She upgraded from Destro to Cobra Commander.

Kind of a stupid implausible way to make a stealth oriented strike force. A magic ray that can reshaed flesh AND repaint metal? That's silly even for GI Joe. Just coating the jets in radar absorbing paint didnt occur to them?
